  • Former Premier League star wants to join Manchester United

Manchester United have already started their search for key players to strengthen their squad this summer.

With the club having had their worst ever season in the Premier League and prepping for their first full run with Ruben Amorim, several charges are expected to be made.

United have already identified Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford as a replacement for problematic Andre Onana, whilst Liam Delap is at the top of their shortlist of attacking targets.

However, The Red Devils are also in need of some midfield reinforcements too with Christian Eriksen coming to the end of his contract and the club wanting to cash in on Casemiro.

Well, they may have found a curveball option, with a proven Premier League midfielder wanting to return to England at Old Trafford.

Douglas Luiz wants a move to Manchester United

Italian outlet, Corriere dello Sport, has reported that Juventus midfielder, Douglas Luiz is looking to return to the Premier League after a failed stint in Serie A.

The 26-year-old proved himself with Aston Villa, grabbing 22 goals and 24 assists in 204 games, becoming a vital member of Unai Emery’s squad.

However last summer, he moved to Juventus for £45 million, and is now looking for a return only a year later.

With only 22 appearances all season, the Brazilian isn’t happy with his game-time, wanting a move back to England with either Manchester United or rivals Manchester City due to their pedigree.

Luiz still has four years on his contract though which is set to expire in 2029, with Juve wanting £34 million for him if they are to part ways.

With United’s financial pressures however, and with Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes and rising star Toby Collyer in the ranks, it’s hard to imaging they’d be happy to met Juve’s valuation for Luiz.

  • Manchester United identify Andre Onana replacement

Manchester United are weighing up a move for a new starting goalkeeper this summer following recent costly errors from Andre Onana.

The Cameroon international came under fire again after two poor moments in Thursday night’s 2-2 Europa League draw away to Lyon.

Onana should have done better with both of Lyon’s goals.

His position is now being openly questioned by figures within the club.

That Europa League clash followed an ugly public spat with former United midfielder Nemanja Matic, who labelled Onana as “the worst goalkeeper in the club’s history.”

The two-time Premier League champion labelled Onana as “the worst goalkeeper in the club’s history.”

It’s understood Onana has begun to lose the confidence of members within the squad, after a string of disappointing displays this season.

Mike Phelan, former assistant manager, even suggested Ruben Amorim must consider dropping the 29-year-old for the remainder of the campaign.

While United have more pressing priorities in the transfer market, sources insist that the goalkeeping position is now a growing problem.

The original expectation was for United to simply recruit a new backup option this summer.

Especially with Altay Bayindir’s future still unclear.

However, Onana’s inconsistency and high-profile errors have shifted internal discussions toward potentially signing a new first-choice keeper.

United have already carried out a detailed assessment of potential targets.

A list including a highly-rated Championship shot-stopper who’s been linked with multiple Premier League clubs.

Manchester United keen on James Trafford to replace Andre Onana

The goalkeeper in question is Burnley’s James Trafford.

United are keen on the Englishman, according to GiveMeSport’s exclusive.

Trafford has broken clean sheet records this season and is considered one of the top young English prospects in the game.

    The 6’6 shot-stopper is viewed by many scouts as a long-term Premier League-level No.1.

United are said to admire his temperament and progression and have kept close tabs on him for several months.

Although Ruben Amorim is not believed to have made a final decision yet, the need for change in goal is becoming harder to ignore.

Onana was signed in 2023 for £47.2m and handed a £200,000-a-week contract running until 2028.

    Thus, making any exit complicated.

Any deal involving Onana would still need to make financial sense for United.

Moreso, given FFP concerns and the high wages involved.

As Amorim prepares to shape the squad in his own image this summer, one of his first big calls could be between the posts.

United fans will be watching closely to see whether patience runs out.

Or if a new No.1 will arrive to steady the ship.

  • Andre Onana set to be dropped ahead of Newcastle clash

Andre Onana has endured a miserable campaign this season in all competitions.

The goalkeeper made another two mistakes in Europa League clash against Lyon on Thursday night.

Onana’s costly display against Lyon on Thursday has only increased the scrutiny around his position.

Onana was directly at fault for both goals in the 2-2 Europa League draw in France.

Firstly, he got caught out by Thiago Almada’s free-kick before parrying a late shot straight into the path of Rayan Cherki for Lyon’s equaliser.

Andre Onana set to be dropped ahead of Newcastle trip

It has now been reported by Chris Wheeler for Daily Mail that Onana is set to be dropped ahead of the weekend clash against Newcastle.

Altay Bayindir is now set to make his Premier League debut, at the expense of Onana’s poor form.

The United boss is said to be ready to make several changes for the trip to St James’ Park.

Onana has been culpable in a number of high-profile moments across all competitions.

Pressure on Onana has intensified in recent weeks, particularly following public criticism from former United midfielder Nemanja Matic.

He labelled him the “worst goalkeeper in the club’s history” after the Lyon match.

Mike Phelan, who served as assistant manager under Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also weighed in.

He warned Amorim that he can’t keep “covering up those mistakes” and may have to make a big call.

Onana has continued to start despite his inconsistent form.

However, Amorim’s now set to turn to Bayindir, who has been waiting patiently in the wings this season.

United fans and coaches alike have questioned whether Onana can be trusted in key moments.

A change in goal might be the reset needed as Amorim looks to salvage momentum in the run-in.

With Bayindir potentially stepping up and Onana’s place under threat, all eyes will be on Amorim’s team sheet come Newcastle trip.

  • Exclusive: INEOS to fire more than 150 more Manchester United staff

Since INEOS brought a minority share in Manchester United, they’ve been keen to cut back costs.

One of the higher profile ways that the club has looked to save money is by making staff redundant.

Not just staff, but pots of money to support older Manchester United legends have been cut.

That’s something that Gary Neville was even critical about to Sir Jim Ratcliffe directly.

The former Manchester United captain has even recently arranged a fundraiser himself to raise money to help those ex-players.

Despite backlash from fans over the cutbacks, it is believed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have been intent on cutting back costs further.

And now it seems that the next phase of their plans are in motion.

CentreDevils can exclusively reveal that Manchester United owners INEOS are set to make over 150 further members of staff redundant.

  • The Athletic confirms Liam Delap on Manchester United shortlist

Attacking reinforcements are of the essence this summer, if Ruben Amorim is to succeed at Manchester United.

Despite a change in manager earlier this season, the fans have still witnessed the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho struggle.

Goals have been scarce this season, with just 37 netted in the league this season.

While some have put it down to the 3-4-3 system, the lack of quality across the frontline is evident.

It is clear that the hierarchy are looking at attacking reinforcements, with movements expected in the summer.

Red Devils concretely interested in Liam Delap

The Athletic reports that Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Liam Delap as part of their plans to reinforce the forward line this summer.

Delap is viewed as a realistic target thanks to a £30m relegation clause at Ipswich Town.

He has scored 12 goals in a struggling relegation side under Kieran McKenna.

United technical director Jason Wilcox knows the player well from his Manchester City academy days and is leading interest in the 21-year-old.

The club hope to pair Delap with a more experienced forward.

An example being Matheus Cunha, with the Red Devils planning a double swoop for the pair.

Delap’s age, price, and Premier League potential make him a key target.

However, Chelsea and other clubs are ready to rival United for his signature.

The lack of Champions League football next season may be the downfall for United in their chase for Delap.

  • The Athletic confirms Manchester United Matheus Cunha approach

Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Matheus Cunha as they aim to add goals and experience to Ruben Amorim’s side.

United are targeting multiple attacking reinforcements to boost their threat in the final third.

They have only netted 37 league goals this season, a record low for the club.

Cunha is seen as a strong fit for one of the No 10 roles in Amorim’s system, as confirmed by The Athletic’s report.

Especially due to his ability to carry the ball, break lines and score.

The Brazilian has netted over 25 Premier League goals in two seasons for Wolves and has frequently impressed against United, including scoring direct from a corner earlier this season.

Matheus Cunha £62.5m release clause details

A £62.5m release clause in his contract makes the terms of a potential transfer clear.

Although, Wolves are open to a structured deal involving instalments as per The Athletic’s report.

United view Cunha, who turns 26 in May, as a player at his peak with the profile to make an instant impact at Old Trafford.

Talks have reportedly begun between the player’s camp and United, as reported on CentreDevils recently.

He admitted to the Guardian that he stayed loyal to Wolves in January despite several offers.

However, the Brazilian now wants to “fight for titles” and “take the next step.”

United must first raise funds through outgoings, with Rashford, Sancho, Antony and Malacia all possible sales.

Wages could also be a factor, with Cunha reportedly earning £150,000 a week.

With several veteran contracts expiring, space is expected to open up on the salary bill.

Cunha’s versatility, end product and familiarity with the league makes him a solid option for United: proven, attainable and ready.

  • Exclusive: Chido Obi returns to the first team squad for Newcastle United

CentreDevils can exclusively confirm that Chido Obi is set to return to Manchester United’s first team squad against Newcastle United this Sunday.

After a somewhat disappointing result last night against Lyon in the UEFA Europa League, United hope to bounce back against a tough Newcastle United side this Sunday.

With a lack of goal threat in the final third once again for so long, United were crying out for a clinical finisher in Lyon.

Joshua Zirkzee did come off the bench to score a goal, but it’s clear that Manchester United could do with another option as a striker.

Chido Obi has broken through to the first team this season like a man on fire.

Despite just being 17, his ascent earned him his initial call-up to the Denmark Under-21 team for the last international window.

Last summer, Obi moved from Arsenal to United, which was viewed as a major coup due to his outstanding potential.

After joining the Gunners from Danish side KB in 2022, he continued to improve at the Emirates.

In the most famous showcase of his talent, the young Dane bagged ten goals against Liverpool at youth level raising interest across Europe.

Chido Obi returns to United’s first team squad against Newcastle

CentreDevils can exclusively confirm that Chido Obi going to be named in the squad to face Newcastle United.

It was initially thought he would remain with the U21 squad tonight.

This thought came after the fact Chido played for the U21s earlier this week in which he netted twice in United’s 3-3 draw against Nottignham Forest’s U21s.

The U21s are in action again tonight against Reading U21s in which they will hope for a win.

Despite Chido Obi being a huge miss to the U21s, another hot prospect in Victor Musa is expected to step up after scoring 6 goals for the U18s last game.

Chido Obi has proven to be a key asset for Ruben Amorim’s squad at only 17 not only showing huge potential in the long term, but as a player that can help the Portuguese head coach in the short term as well.

Manchester United will hope to get the 3 points against Newcastle United this Sunday in what will be a difficult game away at St James’ Park.

MUFC fans will be looking to see if Chido will get a chance to get on the pitch and score his first goal for the senior side.

  • Manchester United summer earnings revealed

Manchester United have confirmed two major summer tours set to bring in a financial windfall amid the club’s growing PSR concerns.

The Red Devils are battling hard on multiple fronts, with their Europa League hopes hanging in the balance after a 2-2 draw in Lyon and Ruben Amorim’s side preparing for a crucial return leg at Old Trafford.

Off the pitch, the club’s finances are under strict scrutiny following their January admission that they risk breaching profit and sustainability rules.

INEOS have already implemented sweeping cost-cutting measures across the club, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe looking to streamline operations while maintaining competitiveness.

Several long-serving staff members have been let go, while funding for former player benefits and charitable efforts have reportedly been reduced or suspended.

With pressure mounting, Manchester United are set to cash in this summer through two lucrative pre-season tours — and the money couldn’t come at a better time.

United will embark on their first-ever post-season tour to Asia immediately after the Premier League concludes, with matches scheduled against ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur on May 28 and against Hong Kong’s select team two days later.

The post-season tour alone will earn the club around £8 million.

After a brief break, Amorim’s men will regroup in July and return to the United States for the Premier League’s Summer Series, marking their third consecutive summer in America.

United will take on West Ham in New Jersey, Bournemouth in Chicago, and Everton in Atlanta between July 26 and August 3.

That leg of the tour is expected to generate £15 million, bringing their total summer earnings to approximately £23 million, as per Football Insider.

This cash injection will ease the club’s PSR burden and potentially provide more room to manoeuvre in the upcoming transfer window.

Although it won’t solve every financial issue, the tours represent a savvy commercial move during a sensitive financial period for the Red Devils.

Amorim will also have the chance to get a closer look at youth and fringe players, while reinforcing his identity and tactical approach ahead of the new season.

  • Rayan Cherki fires shots at Manchester United

Manchester United’s Europa League campaign is still hanging in the balance after a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Lyon on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim’s men looked set to take a huge step towards the semi-finals after scoring late, only for a stoppage-time equaliser to keep the tie wide open ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.

The match saw another high-profile mistake from goalkeeper Andre Onana, whose position is already under scrutiny following recent criticism.

With speculation building over potential changes this summer, Amorim’s tactical decisions in big games are being closely analysed.

Despite fielding a strong side, United found themselves under pressure for large spells of the first leg and may now need to adopt a more aggressive approach in front of their own fans next week.

The fallout from Thursday’s clash has seen Lyon’s Rayan Cherki launch a pointed attack at United’s tactics, suggesting Amorim’s side came to France with the sole intention of defending.

Rayan Cherki, who scored the late equaliser following an Onana fumble, didn’t hold back post-match, saying United were “afraid” and showed Lyon too much respect.

    “We played a full game.

“We were much better than that team,” he told reporters.

“We know Manchester are a good team.

“We were never afraid of them.

“We will never be afraid of them.”

Cherki also took aim at United’s formation: “When you come with two defensive midfielders, there’s no need to say more.”

His words echo the criticism of Onana earlier in the week, after the keeper claimed United were a better team than Lyon – a comment that prompted a fiery response from Nemanja Matic, who called him one of the worst in United’s history.

Speaking to Canal+, Cherki doubled down on his view: “When you see that they come with two defensive midfielders, it’s because they’re particularly afraid of us.”

Lyon now believe they can go to Old Trafford and take the game to United, with Cherki vowing they will attack from the first whistle.

United, meanwhile, must bounce back from another defensive wobble if they hope to salvage their European season next Thursday.

  • Manchester City trial brother of ex-Manchester United wonderkid

Isak Hansen-Aaroen, once heralded as one of Manchester United’s brightest academy prospects while at the club, continues to make waves in European football.

After leaving Tromso at just 16 to join United, Isak developed his craft at Old Trafford before moving to Werder Bremen in early 2024.

Currently on loan at Danish side Aalborg BK, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder is gaining valuable first-team experience, aiming to solidify his place in top-tier European football.

While Isak’s journey has been closely followed by football enthusiasts, attention is now shifting to his younger brother, Sigve Hansen-Aaroen.

The 14-year-old talent, currently playing for Tromso’s youth setup, is already attracting interest from major European clubs.

Last year, Sigve Hansen-Aaroen spent time on trial with Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, showcasing his skills and potential.

Sigve Hansen-Aaroen on trial at Manchester United

In a significant development, Sigve has recently been on trial with Manchester City, one of the Premier League’s top clubs, as per the Academy Arena on X.

This opportunity indicates the high regard in which he’s held and the potential trajectory of his burgeoning career.

While specific details about the trial remain under wraps, the very fact that City is evaluating him speaks volumes about his talent and promise.

It’s important to note that, due to FIFA regulations, Sigve cannot make an international move until he turns 16 in February 2026. This means that any potential transfer would be a long-term investment for interested clubs, focusing on his development and integration into their youth systems.

The Hansen-Aaroen family’s footballing pedigree is becoming increasingly evident.

With Isak carving out a professional career across Europe and Sigve drawing attention from elite clubs at such a young age, it’s clear that talent runs deep in the family.

As Sigve continues to develop, the football world will be watching closely to see if he can follow in—or even surpass—his brother’s footsteps.
