  • Thierry Henry mocks Leny Yoro on Monday Night Football

Manchester United’s disastrous season hit another low at the weekend with a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United.

The result marked the club’s 14th Premier League defeat of the campaign — equalling their worst-ever top-flight tally with six matches still to play.

Despite Alejandro Garnacho briefly drawing United level in the first half, Ruben Amorim’s side capitulated again, conceding three more goals and showing little fight.

United’s defence remains a glaring issue, and it’s no surprise that INEOS are targeting reinforcements in the summer as part of a major rebuild.

Leny Yoro, who has recently come back from an injury, had his performance heavily scrutinised.

Leny Yoro, who played the full 90 minutes against Newcastle, was involved in a moment that drew the attention of pundits and fans alike — but not for his defending.

After Harvey Barnes slotted home Newcastle’s third goal, Yoro was seen glancing toward the assistant referee, seemingly appealing for something, despite no foul or offside being involved.

Thierry Henry, speaking on Monday Night Football, was left baffled by the gesture and didn’t hold back.

“Look at Yoro and what he is asking for,” Henry said.

    “I don’t know why… I don’t know what he is looking at.

    “I’ve never seen that before.”

The Arsenal legend’s over-the-top reaction — including exaggerated expressions — was met with laughter in the studio but anger outside of it.

United fans and wider football supporters were quick to call out the punditry, accusing Thierry Henry of going out of his way to mock a teenager in a freeze-frame moment.

Many pointed out that defenders routinely glance at the linesman after conceding goals and felt the criticism was more performative than analytical.

“This was for clicks,” one fan said.

“He knows defenders do this every week.”

Thierry Henry’s dramatic reaction could give Yoro extra motivation to prove him wrong when United face Lyon on Thursday in their biggest game of the season so far.

  • Manchester United target favours move to Aston Villa

Manchester United’s top priority heading into the summer window has been to secure future superstars before they explode onto the scene.

INEOS are pushing a youth-first approach, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s vision centred on identifying players with long-term potential.

While some of the club’s youth targets have already been secured – including Sekou Kone, James Overy, Chido Obi, Samuel Lusale and Arsenal’s Ayden Heaven – several others remain on the radar.

Scouts have been active across Europe, keeping tabs on the likes of Ajax’s Zakaria Ouazane, Mali’s Seydou Dembele and Sheffield United’s Ryan One.

One name long linked with a dream move to Old Trafford, however, is now slipping away for good.

It seems as if Manchester United have missed out on Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Nypan, who has chosen to join Premier League rivals Aston Villa, as reported by Nettavisen.

The 18-year-old Rosenborg midfielder has been on United’s radar for over two years, even publicly admitting that a move to Old Trafford would be a “dream”.

Despite those comments, it now appears that Villa have stolen a march on the Red Devils, with Nettavisen claiming that the deal is almost complete and was decided weeks ago.

This development will sting for United, particularly as the club also lost out on Swedish prodigy Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham earlier this year.

Sverre Nypan has impressed massively in Norway’s top flight and is expected to play a significant role in Unai Emery’s plans once the move is finalised.

Manchester United’s interest had cooled earlier this year, but many fans were still hopeful the club would make a last-minute push.

Instead, Nypan will now likely face United as a rival, with many expecting him to break into the Villa first team within a season or two.

While United will continue their hunt for the next generation of stars, missing out on yet another elite talent has raised questions about execution behind the scenes.

With a clear strategy in place but increasing competition from Premier League clubs, the margin for error in youth recruitment is rapidly shrinking.

Manchester United have had yet another senior member of staff step away from the club.

Since INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe took up his minority ownership just over a year ago, several key members of staff have left United.

Last month it was reported that a trio of senior executives were leaving the club, with Annie Hale, the Peoples and Transformation Director, James Holroyd the Chief Commercial Development Officer, and Florence Lafaye, a Commercial Director, all stepping down.

Now, Board Member Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped away as a director of MUFC as per UK companies house.

Information on the Government website, which can be seen below, lists Blanc as having resigned from the club on 31st March 2025.

The 62-year-old joined Manchester United in February 2024 as the Chief Executive Officer before Omar Berrada stepped into the role with Blanc becoming a board member in July.

Blanc came to United after being the Chief Executive Officer at Juventus and PSG, being in the French capital for 11 years.

Now, just 12 months on since he joined the club, the INEOS employee has stepped down.

Whilst his reasons for stepping away from the company are yet unknown, with him having limited day-to-day involvement with the club.

  • Ruben Amorim makes huge U-turn in support of struggling Manchester United man

Manchester United have had a dismal season with a range of issues including Andre Onana’s problematic goalkeeping, numerous injuries and lack of goals.

Whilst Onana has been repeatedly questionable between the sticks, letting in some howlers, Ruben Amorim’s strikers haven’t been able to compensate for it by finding the net.

Joshua Zirkzee’s debut season at Old Trafford has been disappointing, whilst Rasmus Hojlund suffered a 21-game streak without scoring.

With neither of Amorim’s strikers proving to be reliable in front of goal, it appeared that the pair would be offloaded in the coming transfer window to generate funds for new signings.

Whilst United are looking at a range of strikers to replace the pair, with Patrik Schick of Bayer Leverkusen now joining the list, it looks like one of the dismal duo is set to stay.

Manchester United to retain Joshua Zirkzee

GiveMeSport has now reported that Ruben Amorim has decided he wants to retain Joshua Zirkzee with the belief that the 23-year-old is set to improve.

It’s expected that Hojlund is still headed for the door, still having high stock in Italy after his spell with Atalanta.

That said, United will have to accept taking a hit on the Denmark international, unlikely to recoup his £72 million transfer fee from his move back in 2023.

Zirkzee however has gained Amorim’s support, considered as being able to grow to fit the Portuguese manager’s playstyle.

Unfortunately however, Zirkzee was forced off against Newcastle through a hamstring injury with Amorim commenting: “I think he will be out for some games.”

  • Manchester United start monitoring Bayer Leverkusen superstar

Manchester United are looking at bolstering their attack this summer as their recruitment team continues to draw up a shortlist of reliable strikers.

The shortlist is currently headed up by Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap who’ll have a £30 million release clause should The Tractor Boys be relegated in the coming weeks.

However, alongside Delap sits Mattheus Cunha of Wolves, as the two Premier League strikers replace the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen as more affordable targets.

Now, The Red Devils are looking slightly further afield once more, with their sights on one of Bayer Leverkusen’s stars.

Previously United have monitored Victor Boniface, however this time it’s the turn of Patrik Schick.

Manchester United interested in Patrik Schick

Sky Sports Germany reporter Patrick Berger has reported that the 29-year-old is considered as an “interesting” option for United, with 23 goals and an assist in 40 games this season.

The striker has helped Xabi Alonso’s side to hold onto second place in the Bundesliga sitting only behind Bayern Munich, who also knocked them out of the Champions League.

It’s understood that Leverkusen would demand between £21 million to £26 million for their striker, making him a very affordable option for The Red Devils.

On their side is also the fact that Schick reportedly wants a move to the Premier League despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The interest from the Middle East is understood to be ignored at this time, with Schick not entertaining the idea of joining the Saudi Pro League.

Berger reports that whilst United have made contact, nothing is concrete just yet, with Schick joining the many names on their attacking shortlist.

  • Manchester United legend rips into squad following Newcastle defeat

Manchester United travelled to St. James’ Park desperate to bounce back to winning ways.

However, their afternoon ended in another damaging defeat.

Despite going into the half-time break level at 1-1 thanks to Alejandro Garnacho’s well-taken goal, the second half quickly spiralled out of control.

Newcastle punished United’s lack of organisation and desire.

Harvey Barnes scored twice, with Bruno Guimaraes adding a fourth.

United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was handed a rare start after Andre Onana was dropped, but he struggled to impress on his audition at St James’ Park.

The defeat allowed Newcastle to complete a league double over Manchester United for the first time since the 1930/31 season.

That result also marked United’s 14th Premier League defeat of the campaign, underlining the serious problems facing Ruben Amorim’s struggling side.

One former Manchester United legend did not hold back as he analysed the performance on pundit duty.

Nicky Butt questions mentality of Manchester United’s team

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Nicky Butt slammed the team for a lack of desire, aggression and basic football intelligence during the defeat.

“It is easy to sit there and apologise but for me if you go on a football pitch you have to do something about it,” Butt said.

“I did not expect Man United to come here and win. Newcastle are a better team, better individuals, better athletically, more power, more pace.”

Butt was left baffled by the lack of fight shown by the players across the 90 minutes.

“I don’t know how Man United go on the football pitch and allow it to happen,” he added.

“I came here [as a player] and lost 5-0, so it can happen. But allowing it to happen is something different, I didn’t see one tackle or one bit of aggression. I didn’t see anybody go head to head with anybody.”

Butt also highlighted how the players’ passive attitude made it far too easy for Newcastle.

“You have to at least go and show that we are not going to accept this lying down. They just lay down and let themselves get beat too easily.”

“They have no power and no pace, it is sad to see. I see Christian Eriksen who was a top player and now can’t move, can’t run.”

Butt singled out Newcastle’s midfield dominance and how easily United allowed Barnes to cut through for his second goal.

“It was too easy. Harvey Barnes ran right through the middle of the pitch, that can’t happen. He should have been thinking he should have passed to Isak for the goal but it was that easy for him.”

Butt then criticised United’s refusal to adjust their approach, even with their backs against the wall.

“They played most of the second half playing passes on the edge of their own box playing three yard passes. It’s just boring to watch.”

“As top class players, when do they realise with their own brains that we can’t pass the ball next to our own box because we will concede goals?”

“Clip some balls up the pitch, at least try to get the balls in the right areas. Somebody has to have the nous to clip some balls up the channels, they don’t even do that.”

Butt insisted the blame couldn’t lie solely with Amorim and urged the players to take responsibility.

“You can’t blame the manager for that, with 52,000 you can’t hear the manager, so somebody has to take control of the game.”

“They are not good enough to play on the edge of their own box and they keep doing it. It was ridiculous.”

Manchester United will now hope to respond when they face Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday night.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Matthijs de Ligt latest injury update provided

Manchester United have experienced a spate of injuries yet again this season, affecting a significant number of their stars.

However, some of their key players are now returning to the pitch or are on the brink of return.

Kobbie Mainoo stepped foot onto the pitch once more making a cameo in Manchester United’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle United this weekend.

Meanwhile, long-term injuries, Mason mounts and Luke Shaw are also backing rotation once again.

Early today it was also revealed that Amad Diallo is back onto the training pitches at Carrington  after damaging a ligament in his ankle earlier in the year.

Now, Centre Devils can reveal that Ruben Amorim has had yet another boost with his squad as another key player is a step closer to recovery.

We understand that Matthijs de Ligt is back doing strength and rehabilitation work after missing the last few games due to injury.

With Leandro Martinez still out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL the loss of de Ligt is certainly being felt by Amorim.

  • Manchester United find shocking Andre Onana replacement

Andre Onana arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2023 with high expectations following his standout season at Inter Milan.

The Cameroonian was signed to help transform United’s build-up play and offer composure from the back.

However, his performances have consistently fallen short of expectations, with costly errors littering his two seasons at the club.

His mistakes have seen United lose all confidence, leading to a sad divide within the club.

It forced Amorim to finally drop him for the recent clash against Newcastle United.

Onana’s omission has only intensified talk that the goalkeeper could be heading for a summer exit.

The club’s long-term search for a new number one is now gathering pace, with a surprise name emerging as a key target.

Manchester United identify Aaron Ramsdale as potential replacement

According to The Sun, Aaron Ramsdale has been identified as a shock option for United as they begin planning their summer rebuild.

The 25-year-old is set to leave relegated Southampton.

The Englishman has drawn interest from both United and West Ham.

Despite a difficult season for the Saints, Ramsdale’s stock remains high thanks to his Premier League experience and previous England caps.

United scouts have been tracking his recent displays and view him as a strong candidate to bring reliability to the back line.

However, West Ham and clubs abroad are also pushing hard to secure his signature ahead of the summer window.

Ramsdale’s preference is to stay in the Premier League to strengthen his hopes of an England recall.

United’s defeat to Newcastle has only piled more pressure on Amorim ahead of their crucial Europa League tie against Lyon.

The Portuguese coach now faces a huge decision over whether to recall Andre Onana or stick with Altay Bayindir for Thursday’s second leg.

With the season approaching a decisive point, the need for change in goal has never been clearer at Old Trafford.

  • Hugo Ekitike asking price revealed

Manchester United’s lack of firepower has been one of the most glaring issues during their troubled season.

Rasmus Hojlund has failed to consistently deliver the cutting edge expected of a first-choice striker.

The Dane is slowly losing the faith of coaching staff at Carrington.

United’s need for a reliable goalscorer has now pushed them back into the transfer market as they seek to address one of the biggest weaknesses in Ruben Amorim’s squad.

One name that continues to gather momentum behind the scenes at Old Trafford is Hugo Ekitike.

The Eintracht Frankfurt forward is enjoying a standout season in the Bundesliga.

His goalscoring form has been attracting interest from several European heavyweights.

Ekitike has established himself as one of the most efficient attackers in Germany this season.

21 goals to his name and a goal involvement every 103 minutes.

His impressive campaign has prompted Frankfurt to prepare for major summer interest.

Eintracht Frankfurt set new asking price for Hugo Ekitike

According to SPORT BILD, the Bundesliga side has placed a £86.5m fee on their star striker.

Manchester United are not alone in their admiration for Ekitike.

Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United have all sent scouts to monitor the 22-year-old in recent weeks.

Ekitike’s reputation was only enhanced during Frankfurt’s Europa League quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur, where he found the net in a 1-1 draw.

The transfer battle for Ekitike could come down to which clubs secure Champions League football.

Something United are currently in real danger of missing out on.

That failure could hand the initiative to Arsenal, Liverpool, or Chelsea, all of whom are expected to spend big on new attackers this summer.

Frankfurt are bracing for a tough summer window, having already sold Omar Marmoush in January.

United face a crucial few months.

Their search for a new striker only becoming more urgent as Ekitike’s profile continues to rise.

  • Ruben Amorim lashes out at players in furious team meeting

Manchester United’s season has lurched from bad to worse, having recently suffered a 4-1 battering at Newcastle.

Ruben Amorim is struggling to steady the ship since his arrival at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach has found it difficult to inject cohesion and quality into his side.

Performances on the pitch are continuing to fall below expectations.

Nicky Butt earlier ripped into the squad, highlighting a lack of fight and common sense from the players.

Along with Gary Neville who voiced his frustrations yet again.

United’s campaign has been defined by inconsistency, poor quality, and a growing sense that the squad simply isn’t responding to Amorim’s methods.

Amorim’s frustration finally boiled over following the club’s latest setback, as he delivered a brutal reality check to his underperforming squad.

Ruben Amorim holds damning team meeting

According to SullyTalkz on X, Amorim was left fuming on Monday morning and wasted no time in cancelling a scheduled meet-and-greet with young fans.

Instead, an emergency first-team meeting was arranged behind closed doors where Amorim reportedly “gave the players a huge bollocking.”

Sully states that the Manchester United dressing room was left in complete silence, with “no one daring to speak” as Amorim laid down the law.

The message was simple and direct: the players have until the end of the season to fix their performances or face being shown the door.

United’s situation is rapidly spiraling into crisis, with time running out for Amorim and his players to salvage something from another disappointing campaign.
