  • ‘Definitive Kameo tier list’ for Mortal Kombat 1 released by True Under Dawg Gaming

The Kameo Fighter system is basically the lifeblood of what makes Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay unique and feeling pretty fresh for the franchise, but not all assists are created equal.

Content creator and big NetherRealm player True Under Dawg Gaming recently released what he’s calling the “definitive Kameo tier list” for MK1 after comparing his opinions to the pro competitors and digging through tournament matches.

As should come as little surprise to anyone following the game, Cyrax takes the top spot for his ability to make pretty much anything safe on block as well as big damage in combos with his helicopter spin assist.

After that, however, TUDG breaks away from some other rankings like Rooflemonger’s Kameo tiers by putting Jax at number two for his unblockable and forced jump setups that players are figuring out how to abuse well now.

Overall, he only has three different tier levels ranging from crazy good to very good, so it seems he feels that everyone at least has a purpose even if Shujinko and Motaro don’t have as much to do.

Some of you may also be surprised by his placements for Goro, Sareena and Sub-Zero though we’ll let him explain why.

If you missed it before, TUDG also put together a full tier list for MK1’s main fighters recently too.

You can check out TUDG’s full Kameo tier list below as well as his video breaking down his rankings as well as what makes the assists good and useful.

  • Tekken 8 originally had the exact same release date as Street Fighter 6 according to Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada

It was delayed half a year as a result

Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada has been running his “Harada’s Bar” online show for some time now. In it, the game developer sits down with prominent people — often from the fighting game community — to discuss the latest happenings and share insider knowledge.

In the latest episode of the show, Harada sits down with Gamers8 champion Kakeru and fighting game legend Tokido to discuss a variety of things. During the interview, Harada lets a giant secret out of the bag in saying that Tekken 8 originally had the same release date as another fighting title that is very, very likely Street Fighter 6.

During the latter portion of the show, Tokido is given the opportunity to ask Harada a question. With this taking place shortly after Evo 2023 and Gamers8 in August, Tekken 8’s official release date had just been unveiled for the first time.

Tokido asks Harada what he is currently working on, and before he answers the question Harada takes the chance to reveal something very interesting about the game’s release date.

“Before I tell you about that… the release date is on January 26th, right?” Harada begins. “I’m not gonna say what title it is, but we found out about it 2 years ago… That title’s release date happened to be the same as Tekken 8.”

After finding out that the release date for “that title” was the same as Tekken 8’s, the team at Bandai Namco had to try and figure out what they can and should do in this situation. Ultimately, they decided to delay the release of Tekken 8 by “half a year.”

Based on what Harada said, Tokido quickly starts to connect the dots and asks if the other title was indeed a fighting game to confirm. Harada clarifies that it was a game from the same genre as Tekken 8, and if you’ve been following fighting games lately, then you know there was only one major fighting game released during that window of time — Capcom’s own Street Fighter 6.

Harada explains that neither company really benefits from having their games from the same genre released at the same time. He goes on to say that though companies who make games within the same genre don’t get along much, that sometimes an intuition kicks in that caused them to communicate and share their respective release dates with one another.

“And we decided to inform each other about the release date,” Harada explained. “Then we found out the release date was on the same day.”

Harada continues by saying that he informed their director and CEO about the issue within 2 weeks of learning about it. While the company could have spent a ton of money on marketing to try and maintain the release date, they eventually decided it wouldn’t be worth it and it would be better to delay Tekken 8’s launch instead.

The Tekken team still had a lot to do on the development front for Tekken 8 at that time, and Harada says that it felt like they needed to delay the release date anyway. The unintended overlap actually proved to be beneficial for Bandai Namco as it bought the development team more time to spend on creating the game.

  • Furina Genshin Impact: Builds, Weapons & More!

“I Focalors hereby welcome you to the nation of Hydro” were some famous last words of the “Hydro archon” after we proceeded to defeat her in the trail and save our two new friends that later turned out to be… sigh* Well, there’s lots of speculation about Focalors or Furina in Genshin Impact and how she’s very suspicious in the lore. But more importantly, she’s coming out in Genshin Impact 4.2, and what we CAN say about her is her kit looks pretty good and might make you want to pull for her. In this guide, let’s look at some of the builds and weapons for Furina and also briefly look at her talents and passives.

    Furina Builds in Genshin Impact

    Furina Best Builds

The best build for Furina in Genshin Impact is the 4-piece Golden Troupe artifacts set combined with her signature weapon Splendor of Tranquil Waters. Furina will be an off-field DPS or support and Golden Troupe is the perfect artifact set as it increases the damage of a character off-field. The 2-piece Golden Troupe artifact set grants 20% elemental skill damage and the 4-piece increases it by an additional 25% when on the field and an extra 25% when the character is not on the field.

    • 4-piece Golden Troupe (Great for off-field DPS and support Furina)
    • 4-piece Nobless Oblige (Great alternative to Golden Troupe)
    • 2-piece Golden Troupe + 2-piece Emblem of Severed Fate (Good for upping the Elemental Burst recharge time)
    Artifact Main / Sub-Stat
    Flower Flat HP / Crit Damage  Crit Rate > HP% > ER%
Feather ATK / Crit Damage  Crit Rate >HP% > ER%
    Sands HP% / Crit Damage  Crit Rate > ER%
    Goblet HP% / Crit Damage  Crit Rate > ER%
    Circlet Crit Damage  Crit Rate / HP% > ER%

Since most of Furina’s damage and healing will come from her HP scaling and Elemental Burst, it is important to stack up as much HP on her as possible, and even stack up a decent amount of Energy Recharge to make sure her Burst recharges quickly. Prioritize Crit Rate, Crit Damage, HP%, and ER% on Flower and Feather, and build Sands and Goblets with HP% as the main stat. The Circlet should have a Crit Rate or Crit Damage for her off-field Crit needs.

    Golden Troupe Set

4-piece Golden Troupe is an excellent choice for Furina since it grants lots of Elemental Skill damage both while on the field and off the field. And since her elemental burst is one of the centerpieces of her kit and scales off of HP, it’s important to have as much HP on her as possible.

    Furina Talents

    Focalors

Furina is a unique character as she can switch Arkhe’s from Ousia to Pneuma, which changes her play style from offensive to healer. Here’s everything you need to know about her Talents and Passives.

    • Normal Attack – Soloist’s Solicitation: Furina performs four consecutive strikes dealing physical damage. Her charged attack changes her Arkhe Alignment from Ousia to Pneuma. Her default Arkhe alignment is Ousia. Besides, her normal attack, based on her Arkhe alignment, will cause a Surging Blade or Spirit breath Thorn to descend, which deals Hydro damage.
    • Elemental Skill – Salon Solitaire: Summons “Salon members” or “Singers of the Streams” based on Furina’s Arkhe alignment. Ousia summons Salon Members — Ball Octopus-shaped Gentilhomme Usher, Bubbly Seahorse-shaped Surintendante Chevalmarin, and Armored Crab-shaped Mademoiselle Crabaletta. They attack opponents consistently, dealing Hydro damage. When they attack, if the character’s HP is more than 50%, they consume it and increase their damage. HP consumed by the members from 1/2/3/4 characters deals 110/120/130/140% increased damage.
Pneuma-aligned: Furina unleashes Singers of the Stream, healing HP to other characters based on Furina’s max HP. Both the Pnewma and Ousia-aligned members share one duration, even if Furina uses her charged attack to change the Arkhe’s alignment. So if you summon the singers while already having Salon members, their time limit will be shared.
    • Elemental Burst – Let the People Rejoice: Furina deals AoE Hydro damage by creating a foam based on her max HP and all party members gain the “Universal Revelry State.” In this state, when a character’s HP increases or decreases, based on the HP lost or gained, Furina gains one “Fanfare Point.” By doing this, she increases the overall damage and healing to the party member, until the Fanfare points are over.

    Furina Passives

    • Passive 1 – The Sea is My Stage: The CD of Xenochromatic Fontemer Creatures decreases by 30%
    • Passive 2 – Endless Waltz: If your party is healed and the healing overflows, Furina starts healing an active character for 2% of their max HP for 4 seconds.
    • Passive 3 – Unheard Confession: For every 1000 HP of Furina, the Ousia-aligned elemental skill damage of Salon Solitaire by increasing the damage dealt by each member by 0.7%, up to a max of 28%. Similarly, for the Pneuma-aligned creature, it will increase the active character healing interval of the Singer of Many Waters by 0.4%, up to a maximum of 16%.

    Best Weapons for Furina

    Splendor of Tranquil Waters

There’s no shortage of good swords in Genshin Impact, and since there are lots of good ones, chances are, you may already have one that’s well-suited for Furina. Here are the best weapons for Furina in Genshin Impact:

    • Splendor of Tranquil Waters (Best Weapon for Furina)
    • Jade Cutter
    • Festering Desire (Best F2P option)
    • Wolf Fang

    Genshin Impact Furina Release Date

The Hydro Archon Furina will be officially out on November 8 and will be available till November 29. The same goes for her signature weapon Splendor of Tranquil Waters. Will you be pulling for Furina or saving for other characters that are yet to come in Genshin Impact 4.2 banners or later? Let us know in the comments section below.

In April of this year, Microsoft announced the discontinuation of its affordable PC accessories. That includes the Microsoft ergonomic keyboards. And if you are unaware, these keyboards were standard for those who wanted the greatest typing comfort in workspaces. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have any premium options left. Take the Logitech Wave Keys, for example.

It’s a recently launched keyboard from Logitech. The keyboard prioritizes ergonomics more than its other keyboards. Logitech says the Wave Keys keyboard will deliver unparalleled comfort at your desk. And to deliver that claim, Logitech has implemented an ergonomic-focused design.

A Closer Look at the Logitech Wave Keys

And by doing so, the design promotes comfort. Also, as the keyboard has a standard layout, you don’t even need to relearn typing techniques.

Besides, the Wave Keys come with an integrated cushioned palm rest. This palm rest provides day-long palm support. And the great part is that you can get it in three different color options. So, it’s not like you have to ruin the aesthetics of your setup for integrating this keyboard.

  • How to Use Double Tap on Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2

At the 2023 Wonderlust event in September, Apple released the new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. To be honest, the past few iterations of the Apple Watch have been uninspiring, and this time, the new Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 only come with one under-the-hood upgrade, which is the S9 chipset. However, there’s a software feature that caught everybody’s attention, and it’s the new Double Tap gesture. While the feature did not arrive with the initial release of the watchOS 10, Apple has now enabled this feature with the watchOS 10.1 firmware. So, here’s how you can get the Double Tap feature working on your Apple Watch today and everything you can do with it.

Note: The Double Tap gesture is only available on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 right now.

What is the Apple Watch Double Tap Feature?

Double Tap is a new gesture-based feature that lets you control various functions of your Apple Watch by pinching your thumb and index finger. As mentioned above, it is exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2. This feature uses the accelerometer, gyroscope, and heart rate sensor to measure the changes in blood flow through your wrist to detect the double tap.

While Apple already had AssistiveTouch on the Apple Watch, this new feature takes it to a level further by taking advantage of the new S9 SiP found in the latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Basically, Apple aims to make it easier for you to navigate through your Apple Watch and perform functions when your other hand is occupied, and only the one on which you wear the Apple Watch is free. The Double Tap feature on the Apple Watch can be useful in situations like when you’re walking your dog, carrying groceries, or holding cups of coffee.

How to Turn On Double Tap on Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2

Unlike other settings, the Double Tap gesture is not enabled by default, so you must turn it on manually to use the feature on your Apple Watch. You can enable the Double Tap gesture directly from your watch or use the Watch app on your iPhone. Here’s how:

    On Apple Watch

    • Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, then tap the Gestures option.
    • Here, select the Double Tap option at the top, then tap the toggle next to Double Tap to turn it on.

    • If prompted, tap the Turn off Accessibility Features button at the bottom of the on-screen alert.
    • Now, scroll down and choose your preferred settings for “Playback” (Play/ Pause or Skip) and “Smart Stack” (Advance or Select) for the double tap gesture.
Customize double tap on Apple Watch

    On iPhone

    • Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap on “Gestures” under the My Watch tab.
    • Here, tap the Double Tap option and toggle on the Double Tap feature.
    • If prompted, tap the Turn off Accessibility Features button in the pop-up message.
    • Now, choose your preferred “Playback” (Play/Pause or Skip) and “Smart Stack” (Advance or Select) settings.

Uses of Apple Watch Double Tap Feature

Simply put, the Double Tap gesture eliminates the need to touch or tap the primary button on-screen to interact with the Apple Watch and can work literally anywhere in the watchOS interface, including but not limited to notifications and in an app. For instance:

    • You can use the double tap gesture to play and pause the music when listening to Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube Music.
    • When receiving a call, you can double-tap to pick it up and double tap again to hang up when you are done.
    • If you have a timer running on your Apple Watch, you can pause the timer using the double tap gesture and resume the countdown by doing the same.
    • As watchOS 10 adds widgets support to your Apple Watch, the double tap gesture can invoke the smart stack from the watch face and navigate through it.
    • And here’s my personal favorite, you can reply with a voice message to a received text with a double tap. Check out the Double Tap feature in action on Beebom’s YouTube channel:

This is how you enable the Double Tap gesture on your Apple Watch Series 9 or Ultra 2. While the feature is exclusive to all Apple Watch models with the S9 chip, you can always use the similar but limited accessibility feature, AssistiveTouch, if you own an Apple Watch Series 4 and newer model. If you’re an Android user and think you are missing out on this feature, here’s how to get Apple Watch 9’s Double-Tap gesture on Galaxy Watches.

  • Benchmark Results Revealed: How Google Pixel 8’s GPU Compares

Last week, Google unrolled the curtains on the Google Pixel 8 series. And for the chipset of the devices, Google has once again partnered with Samsung. That is, the Tensor G3 found in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are from Samsung’s 4nm fabrication process.

Under the hood, the Tensor G3 features a 9-core CPU configuration. There’s 1 Cortex X3, four A715, and four A510 cores. In terms of the GPU, the Google Pixel 8 series comes with the Mali G710. But the real question is, how good is the GPU?

Well, the benchmark test results of the Tensor G3 are out. And from the numbers, it’s pretty clear that the Google Pixel 8 devices aren’t the best gaming phones that your money can currently buy.

Tensor G3 of Google Pixel 8 Delivers Weak GPU Performance

Overall, the Tensor G3 inside the Google Pixel 8 devices doesn’t hold up well against the competition. The performance across different benchmarking tools is about 1.5 to 2 generations behind. Here’s a closer look:

    3DMark Wildlife Extreme

In 3DMark Wildlife Extreme, the Tensor G3 doesn’t do so well. It’s about as fast as the Apple A14, which is a chipset from 2020. What’s more interesting is that the GPU of G3 is slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was launched two years back.

    Google Tensor G3 Wildlife Extreme

As you can see from the comparison table picture attached above, the Tensor G3 of Pixel 8 and Dimensity 9200 share the same GPU. That MediaTek chipset comes with Mali-G715, and it features 11 compute units. However, the Dimensity chipset outperforms the new Tensor SoC by a wide margin.

But they are not identical, as the Dimensity 9200 was fabbed on TSMC’s 4nm node. Also, the Google Pixel 8 SoC features 7 compute units.

    GFXBench

On GFXBench Aztec, the Dimensity 9200 once again reigns over the Tensor G3 of Pixel 8. As you can see from the picture attached below, the G3 offers about half the frame rate in the test. In addition, the Tensor draws nearly double the power of the Dimensity 9200.

But on GFXBench test V3.1, the gap between the Tensor G3 and Dimensity 9200 narrows down by a bit. Still, the power draw of the chipsets is the same in this test.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is the current Android flagship chipset, offers about double the FPS in Aztec. It even gets better efficiency scores across the board.

What Does This Mean for Pixel 8 and the Upcoming Android Flagship Chipsets

As the test results from different benchmarking tools show, the Google Pixel 8 isn’t competitive against the current flagship in terms of performance. It only offers a slight improvement over the Tensor G2 found in the Pixel 7 series.

    Google Tensor

This is bad news for the current Google Pixel flagships, as the Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are just around the corner. Both these upcoming flagship chipsets will be unveiled before the end of this year. And seeing how poor the GPU performance of the Tensor G3 is, it’ll be way behind the two future flagship chipsets.

    Samsung Exynos x AMD Radeon

On that note, the node disadvantage is a piece of bad news for the Samsung Exynos 2400. But it’s worth noting that Samsung integrated RDNA 3-equipped GPU into that chipset. So, the architectural advantage could keep the Exynos 2400 in the game.

    Pixel 8 Series

For Google Pixels, it seems that the significant performance gap between the current flagships will continue unless Google ditches Samsung’s foundry. And judging by the current state of Google, that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.
