  • Maximize Your Samsung Galaxy Battery Life: Tips and Tricks

If you’ve noticed that your Samsung Galaxy smartphone is draining its battery rapidly, especially during days of heavy usage involving activities like gaming, social media, and countless WhatsApp groups, you can employ techniques to reduce your phone’s battery consumption without the need for additional applications. You can achieve this by making the most of the features offered by One UI, the interface found on Samsung phones and tablets.

One UI is rich in features and configuration options, enabling you to take control of your device’s actions and restrictions. While these options might sometimes be a bit challenging to locate, there’s no need to worry. If you’re aiming for longer battery life on your Samsung Galaxy device, below, you’ll discover a compilation of tips and configuration adjustments to maximize your Galaxy’s battery performance.

Here are the adjustments we suggest for optimizing your device’s display settings to conserve battery life:

    1. Start with the basics: Access the settings menu, navigate to the “Display” section, and enable Dark Mode on your mobile device. This mode significantly reduces battery consumption, especially on AMOLED panels, compared to the bright mode.
    2. Within the “Display” section, disable the feature called “Extra brightness.” In most scenarios, this additional brightness is unnecessary and consumes extra battery, unless you find yourself directly under the intense sunlight at the beach.
    3. You can also activate Adaptive Brightness within the same “Display” section. This allows your smartphone to automatically adjust screen brightness based on the ambient lighting conditions. However, if you prefer to retain control over brightness settings, you might choose not to enable this feature.
    4. Staying within the “Screen” section, some Samsung Galaxy devices allow you to alter the screen resolution. FullHD+ (2316x1080p) resolution generally provides a similar viewing experience to WQHD+ (3088x1440p) while consuming less battery power in most circumstances.
    5. In the same “Screen” settings section, you can also adjust the refresh rate, referred to as “Fluidity of Motion.” Switch from Adaptive (capable of reaching 120 Hz) to Standard (limited to 60 Hz). The Standard option, naturally, is more energy-efficient.
    6. Return to the main settings menu and proceed to the “Lock Screen” section. Here, select “Always On Display.” You have the option to either turn this feature off entirely to maximize battery savings or choose the “Tap to Show” option, which activates the Always On Display for a brief moment when you tap the screen. This way, you can check the time and notifications without fully illuminating the screen. My personal recommendation is to use the “Tap to Show” setting.
    7. In the same section, consider enabling auto-brightness for the Always On Display or setting it to the minimum level, further conserving battery life.

Here are the recommended changes you can make to your Galaxy’s system and apps to help conserve battery life:

    1. Begin by reviewing and uninstalling any apps or games that you no longer use or have never used. Some apps may not be uninstallable, but you can deactivate them to prevent them from running in the background.
    2. In your mobile’s Settings menu, navigate to the “Battery and Device Care” section, then access “Automatic Optimization” and enable it. This feature will keep your phone optimized and automatically restart it when necessary, typically when it’s not in use.
    3. Within the “Battery & Device Care” menu, select “Battery,” and then choose “Background Usage Limit.” Turn on “Suspend unused apps.” This will ensure that even apps you haven’t uninstalled will be put to sleep and won’t drain the battery in the background if they aren’t used for an extended period.
    4. In the same “Battery” section, go to “More Battery Settings” and activate the “Adaptive Battery” option.
    5. In the same “Battery” section, select “Performance Profile” and opt for “Lightweight.” This will reduce your phone’s processing speed to extend battery life without significantly impacting performance, especially during gaming.
    6. If you notice an app in the “Battery” section consuming excessive battery, you can tap on its name and choose “Limit in the background.” Keep in mind that by doing this, you might not receive all the notifications and updates from that app until you actively use it.
    7. In the main Settings menu, navigate to the “Connections” section, then “Wi-Fi.” Tap the three-dot button in the top right corner, and select “Smart Wi-Fi.” Enable “Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode.”
    8. Return to the “Connections” section and access “More Connection Settings.” You can disable the “Nearby Device Search” option. This feature allows your device to search for other devices to connect to, such as headphones or a smartwatch, or other Galaxy mobiles for file transfers. If you don’t use these features regularly, turning off this option can help save battery life.

These changes should help you optimize your Galaxy’s system and apps for improved battery performance. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Here are some basic tips to remember for optimizing your Samsung Galaxy’s battery life and overall performance:

    1. Quick Settings Panel: Access the quick settings panel by swiping down twice from the top of the screen. Utilize these options:
      • Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use to conserve battery.
      • Activate Battery Saver mode when you need to extend your battery life.
      • Enable the dimmed Extra mode to reduce screen brightness further, which is especially helpful at night.
    2. Regular App and System Updates: It’s crucial to keep all your apps up to date by regularly checking for and installing their latest versions. Additionally, ensure your Samsung Galaxy device is running the latest software update, especially as new versions like One UI 6.0 become available. These updates often include improvements in performance, security, and power efficiency.

Following these fundamental tips should help you maintain the best performance and battery life for your Samsung Galaxy device. If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask.

  • AMD Driver Update Causing Vac Bans in Counter Strike 2: Here’s What You Need to Know

Some Counter Strike 2 players are getting VAC banned after installing the latest AMD driver update. And before you ask, no, AMD isn’t offering cheats with the driver update to make you get more headshots in the game. Instead, it’s the AMD Anti-Lag feature that’s making the players receive a VAC ban.

The driver update in question is 23.10.1, which AMD released earlier this week. Its aim was to fix the stuttering and crash issues with Counter Strike 2. The driver also adds CS2 support for the Anti-Lag+ feature.

Following a Reddit thread that raised the alarm regarding the issue, the CS2 Twitter account has confirmed the issue. The Counter Strike 2 Twitter account has asked AMD customers not to use the feature while playing the game.

What’s Wrong with the AMD Anti-Lag Feature and Why Is It Issuing CS2 Vac Bans?

At the core, the AMD Anti-Lag+ feature minimizes the input lag. It does that by “applying frame alignment with the game code itself.” By doing so, it allows the players to get “better frame syncing, which leads to even lower latency and great gaming experience.”

    AMD Anti-Lag feature

    Gizchina News of the week

In other words, the AMD Anti-Lag feature injects itself into the code of the game. As Valve says, the feature is implemented by “detouring engine dll functions.” Counter Strike 2 interprets it as unauthorized tampering and triggers the VAC ban. The statement from Valve suggests that it doesn’t plan to adjust the VAC on its end to allow players to enjoy the feature.

    Anti Lag and Anti Lag+

Instead, the statement from Valve hints that it will wait for AMD to issue a patch. Till then, you should keep the AMD Anti-Lag feature turned off while playing Counter Strike 2. And if you’ve already been banned for playing with the feature, Valve will reverse the ban once the driver issue is solved. We will get you updated when AMD releases a driver hotfix.

  • Pitch made for Mortal Kombat vs. DC animated film gets a no go from Warner Bros.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is 15 years old at this point, and the meshing of the two popular properties has almost become commonplace thanks NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice games, so that’s probably why the idea of an animated crossover film sounds like it could easily work.

In fact, Jeremy Adams, writer of all three Mortal Kombat Legends films as well as animated Batman and a Justice League films, pitched it to Warner a few years back. He recently sat down with ComicBook and spilled the beans.

“I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed,” Adams told ComicBook. “Trust me, I would love to see a DC Mortal Kombat. That would be super, super cool.”

From the sounds of it, Warner doesn’t suspect such a collaboration over the film medium would make them much money. The Injustice titles saw reasonably success with the first doing well enough to inspire the second, and the second selling some 1.5 million copies in its first three months, and though that isn’t exactly Mortal Kombat meets DC, those games were essentially DC made by the MK crew, and both featured playable MK guest characters.

One does have to wonder the nature of such a film, but especially in recent years we’ve seen tons of examples of superheroes escaping the PG-13 realm. It wouldn’t be the overall rating that might scare off DC, but perhaps the fact that it’s hard to have fights with Mortal Kombat characters without giving up at least some of your own to deadly blood and gore.

It’s hard to imagine a setting where we see Superman getting dismembered, (for a handful of reasons) but writers could surely find some kind of atmosphere that would allocate for all relevant boxes to be checked.

Maybe we’re in a standalone universe where Batman does indeed get his soul sucked out by Shang Tsung, or maybe all the fighting takes place on some magical or virtual island where death isn’t quite so permanent. The point with this kind of a film wouldn’t be to write the best story ever, it’d be to show badass three way battles between Wonder Woman, Kitana, and Mileena.

In any case, we’re not going to hold our breath for this to come to fruition anytime soon, but the idea is one Warner should at least keep in its back pocket, because if handled correctly, it could be pretty cool. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts on such an animated endeavor (and perhaps how you’d write it) in the comments below.

  • Brad Wolfe: Loki Season 2’s New Character Explained

Loki Season 2 Episode 2 is here, and guys, this episode was rather funny compared to the first episode. This one primarily revolved around Mobius and Loki looking for and finding Sylvie. The duo also find Hunter X-5 in the sacred timeline, where he has become a movie star and named himself Brad Wolfe. Seems pretty normal, right? What if I tell you there’s a huge easter egg in this name? Not only Brad Wolfe, but I believe you might have also noticed the name of the movie, Zaniac, he is working on. Sounds interesting, right? Well, to learn more about it, dive right into this article!

Who is Brad Wolfe aka Hunter-X5?

In Episode 2, Hunter X-5 goes rogue and takes the identity of Brad Wolfe. He becomes a movie star on the scared timeline and has a life for himself. In the Marvel Comics, something very similar happens. A rogue TVA agent becomes an actor named Brad Wolfe and while working on the movie Zaniac, here comes the interesting part, Brad Wolfe becomes possessed by an evil entity that turns him into a serial killer.

Wolfe turns into a monster and starts bringing the story of his movie to life, killing a number of women. He renames himself to Zaniac, and eventually, becomes an enemy of Thor. Zaniac was killed off by Thor in the comic run of Thor#319.

However, in Loki Season 2, it seems like he isn’t possessed yet. Who knows, in the future, we get to see him fight Loki and Mobius as a possessed being, calling himself Zaniac, in the future. The interesting thing is that Brad Wolfe gets possessed while filming the sequel to his movie, Zaniac.

In Episode 2, Brad mentions that he is going to start working on a sequel so there’s a possibility that we might get to see Zaniac in action too. As of now, this is just an assumption and only the future will tell what we get to see in the upcoming episodes of Loki Season 2.

  • Street Fighter 6 devs don’t understand which characters are strong

During a recent question and answer streaming session the most celebrated fighting game professional on the planet, BST|Daigo Umehara, offered some of his thoughts on the politics of balancing fighting games, a practice that’s really only been around in its current form for the last 13 years or so.

Trying to tease out aspects of a Street Fighter entry that’re actually over or under-powered versus what players simply need to spend more time with is no easy task, and trying to get a game so well balanced that it’s universally praised seems nigh impossible. Daigo feels that influential figures in the community need to actively help developers in this arena, and simultaneously not be overly political about trying to influence selfish changes.

“As far as Street Fighter 6 is concerned,” he starts, “it’s such a well made game, and the developers have evolved so much, so I figured they probably don’t need us to speak up that much… But now I’m sure that’s not the case.

“I think they probably don’t have a grasp on what characters are strong; the devs can’t grasp that on their own. That’s why it’s important for people of influence to voice their opinions,” says Daigo.

Indeed Street Fighter 6 does seem to be the franchise entry with the most foresight and thoughtfulness placed on individual and general character balance yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

Daigo mentions how surprised the community was during the span of Street Fighters 4 and 5 when certain overpowered abilities were surprisingly not attended to for long swaths of time (we’re looking at you, Seasons 2-4 Cammy and Rashid).

Indeed, Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama recently shared how the Street Fighter 5 dev team supposed that Alex was the strongest character in the game.

“I love watching the tier lists that players put out,” Nakayama told Inside-Games. “Those are totally different from our thoughts internally. Even with Street Fighter 5, our views never aligned with the players even at the end.

“Most people seemed to consider Luke the strongest, but on our development team what if I told you that we actually thought that Alex was at the top? We don’t talk about this stuff because then it comes off as an ‘official statement’, but it’s interesting,” he said.

For those unaware, Alex was long regarded as being so low tier that he was near joke status for the majority of SF5’s life. He was buffed consistently, likely due to near constant fan outcry, but said buffs never seemed to amount to enough to give him an honest chance in the competitive realm.

Tune in to the full video below to hear all of what Daigo has to say about the role of notable FGC members influencing modern game balancing practices. He takes particular issue with those who remain silent in the hopes their character will benefit despite seeing something they honestly feel is overly weak or strong.

Do you agree with Daigo’s thoughts and assessments here? Chime into the comments after you watch and share your opinions as we continue to hold and broadcast important conversations in the direction of developers.

  • Threads App Now Supports an Edit Option Without Any Cost |

how to enable two factor authentication on instagram threads

A few months ago, Instagram introduced the Threads app, which is a direct rival to X, previously known as Twitter. In a short span of time, the app has garnered a lot of new features and to continue the streak, we have two new features for all. Have a look at the details.

    Threads Gets an Edit Button

Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, via a post on Threads, revealed that the app is getting an edit button, that too, for free. This is pretty interesting as the app introduced a pretty handy feature (which should be the case by the way!) in a short period, as opposed to X, which took years to get the feature. Plus, it remains behind a paywall and only the Premium subscribers can use it.

So, in case you mistakenly made a wrong post or had a lot of typos, you can simply edit the post instead of deleting it and posting a new one. Having said that, the feature comes with limits. You will get 5 minutes to edit the post, following which, the option won’t be available.

    Threads app Edit button

To edit a Threads post, you can simply tap the three-dotted menu next to it and select the edit option. There will be a timer next to it so that you can make the changes as soon as possible. This is a downside as X has a longer time limit.

In addition to this, there’s also the new Voice Threads feature, which will let you attach an audio file or a voice note to the post, making things more conversational. When you attempt to publish something, you will now see a microphone icon to record the audio and post it.

    Voice Threads feature

Both these new Threads features have now started rolling out and should be available for all. If they aren’t, just ensure your app is up-to-date. In case every pre-requisite is followed, just wait as you will soon get them. And, don’t forget to share your thoughts about the Threads app getting an edit option in the comments below.

  • Honor X9b Design Has Been Teased by Honor Malaysia

Honor keeps up its campaign that aims to improve its presence in the smartphone segment. Since its independence from Huawei, Honor has been aiming high in the smartphone market with important releases. The company launched a couple of foldable smartphones in a bid to compete with the big ones in the segment like Samsung. However, the mid-range segment still is one of the most important ranges for brands that want to be successful. Therefore, Honor is gearing up to introduce a new device dubbed Honor X9b.

Honor X9b’s Design Revealed in All Glory

The Honor X9b will be a direct sequel for the Honor X9a that was announced in January this year. The new variant appeared on Honor’s Malaysian website, showing the design of its back. Once again, we have the disc camera, which is one of my favorite’s designs ever.

In fact, the design is very reminiscent of the Honor X9a. The predecessor has the same circular camera island, although with the X9b the phone seems thicker and it’s protruding a bit more. The obvious change is the color itself. The Honor X9b will come with vegan leather in at least one of its variants.

    Gizchina News of the week

The company also posted an official teaser image on its X account. It shows part of the front panel, and it reveals a curved display with a centered punch-hole image for the selfie shooter.

The Honor X9b could be a rebadged Honor X50 which is available in China since July. The reason behind it is that the X9b was spotted with the same chipset, RAM, and Android version as the X50 in Geekbench benchmark.

    Honor X9b Specifications

The Honor X9b might come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 2,652 x 1,220 pixels of resolution. The panel offers a 19:5:9 aspect ratio, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The device will run Magic OS 7.1 based on Android 13. Under the hood, it will have the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Storage. It packs a 5,800 mAh battery with 35W charging. The camera setup includes an 8 MP selfie snapper, ands a 108 MP rear camera paired with a 2 MP macro lens.

    Conclusion

The phone is touted as coming soon, so we can expect more teasers to appear in the due time. Considering the teaser, the Honor will likely hit Malaysia first, but other markets in the region should receive it as well. Details like the processor in the phone are still unclear, but Honor will likely share more details in the next few days.
