Despite Street Fighter 6’s strong roster of characters almost across the board, we typically see a pretty high percentage of JP and Ken players at big events, but that wasn’t so much the case this past weekend.
East Coast Throwdown 2023 brought in almost 500 competitors for SF6, and now that the action has wrapped, we can see that the usual top tiers didn’t quite dominate the way they usually do as of late.
That’s right, it was actually Kimberly that was the most popular pick of the top 64 with 10 players maining her in the upper brackets, which is extra fitting since Shine won with her (and his pocket Chun-Li for grand finals).
Juri and Dee Jay made up the rest of the top three in the popularity to edge out Ken and Cammy from reaching those top spots.
JP did not have as good of a weekend in Connecticut considering even E. Honda and Manon beat him out in picks with his highest placing mains only cracking the top 32.
That’s a pretty massive change up from the Capcom Pro Tour Singapore Premier that was going down at the same time where Ken, JP and Luke dominated the overall numbers.
Like that event, however, we did get another Rashid in the top 8, and there was even an A.K.I. secondary getting second in ONi|Naji with her highest placing main being Prophet at 13th.
The top 8 itself almost couldn’t get more diverse with Kimberly, Juri, Rashid, Luke, Cammy, Manon and Marisa making up the primaries and only the winning pick repeated, which was great to see.
We saw 18 mains overall in the top 64, so the only ones who didn’t get picked first were once again Ryu and Jamie though the dancer did show up as a back-up.
You can check out the full breakdown for the top 64 for Street Fighter 6 at ECT 2023 below, and if you missed it, we also did character stats for Mortal Kombat 1 at the event too for the first Pro Kompetition event.

Performance
The Geekbench 6 results show a device that’s capable of a single-core score of 2011 and a multi-core score of 6086. These scores are a healthy increase on the Samsung Galaxy S23, which currently sits at an average of 1,881 and 4,985 for single and multi-core, respectively. However, it falls notably short of the iPhone 15, which scored 2559 single-core and 6375 multi-core.
Final Words
The Samsung Galaxy S24 global version appears to be a powerful smartphone. It comes with the new Exynos 2400 chipset and 8GB of RAM. In terms of performance, the Galaxy S24 score is better than its predecessor, the Galaxy S23. However, it falls short of the iPhone 15 in terms of raw SoC performance. The device should launch in January or February 2024. Samsung is also planning on holding the Galaxy Unpacked event around that time in San Francisco, US.
No matter what you do, your iPhone battery will degrade over time and lose its ability to hold a charge. As a result, your iPhone won’t deliver the same peak battery performance as it used to offer when it was brand-new. Generally, an iPhone battery stays good for around 2 years or even longer depending on your usage and charging habits. That said, we cannot escape the fact that sometimes you might experience more battery degradation than expected and you would require iPhone battery replacement. We completely understand how annoying it gets. While it may seem to be a daunting task, it’s pretty simple if your basics are sorted.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you should know about iPhone battery replacement. Right from when to do it, how much it would cost you, and how to replace an iPhone battery. we’ve covered all the essentials. Without taking much time, let’s get going right away.
About iPhone Batteries
An iPhone uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that charge faster and last longer as compared to other batteries with older technology. In addition, lithium-ion batteries have advanced features and are less prone to battery issues. That said, all rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective and hold a lesser charge as they chemically age. This would leave an iPhone with a lower charge-holding capacity, offering fewer hours between charges. Also, you may experience several issues like iPhone shutting down unexpectedly, sluggish app performance, lower speaker volume, frame rate reduction in some apps, and more. Since an iPhone battery degrades over time, it becomes important to replace the battery.
When to replace your old iPhone battery?
Before you know the iPhone battery replacement process, you should know when to replace an iPhone battery. An iPhone has a Battery Health feature that shows the information on maximum battery capacity and peak performance capability. When your iPhone (or any device) becomes years old, it won’t have the same charge-holding capacity as it had when it was brand-new. You need to check your iPhone’s battery health to figure out if the battery needs a change or not. Here’s how to do it:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down to the Battery section.
Then, tap on Battery Health & Charging.
Here you’ll see the Maximum Capacity of your battery and that’s your iPhone’s battery health. The higher the number, the better the battery health.
Apple recommends that if the Maximum Capacity is more than 80%, your iPhone has a healthy battery.
If your iPhone is ready for a battery replacement, you’ll see a small notice at the very top. Also, the Maximum Capacity might say Service.
Under normal conditions, a lithium-ion battery is designed to retain up to 80 percent of its original capacity at 500 complete cycle charges. On the iPhone 15 series, Apple has added the feature to check battery cycle count. When the maximum capacity goes beyond 80%, Apple recommends an iPhone battery replacement. So, if your iPhone’s battery health is less than 80%, you should replace your old iPhone battery.
How to replace your iPhone battery?
1. Go for Apple Authorised Repair
The most reliable way to get your iPhone battery replaced is to reach out to Apple and let them do it. You don’t have to worry about anything. Exploring third-party repairs might void the warranty and might even damage the iPhone’s water-resistant capability.
Apple offers iPhone battery service under several conditions.
First, if you haveAppleCare+ coverage, your iPhone has a maximum capacity of less than 80%, and there are no additional damages, Apple will replace your iPhone battery for free.
Second, if you do not have AppleCare+, Apple will charge you a fee. It’s worth knowing that your iPhone’s warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down over time with normal use.
Once you’ve decided to go for Apple’s iPhone repair service, you have three options (depending on your country/region) to do it.
You can ship your iPhone for repair. If you decide to ship your iPhone, bear in mind that it might take up to 5 to 9 days as you’ll have to wait for Apple to go by their standard procedure.
You can contact Apple support and ask them to send a service provider to your address.
Lastly, you can schedule an appointment at the nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider. On the flip side, if you choose to visit the nearest Apple service center, the repair might be completed in one day. In case there’s additional damage, the repair might take up to 5 days.
How much does it cost to replace an iPhone battery?
The exact iPhone battery replacement cost depends upon the model you own, any additional damages, and more. You can use Apple’s Get Estimate tool to have an idea about how much you’ll have to pay if you get service directly from Apple.
For instance, the iPhone 11 battery replacement cost is $89. This price remains the same for iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max replacement. If you want an Apple-authorized service provider to come to your home or office, you’ll have to pay an additional $30 as a visit fee. Here’s a list of Apple’s iPhone battery replacement costs depending on the model:

2. Apple Self Repair Program
Apple understands that at least some users have the knowledge and experience to repair their devices themselves. For such users, Apple offers a Self Service Repair program that offers access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and manuals to perform out-of-warranty repairs.
So, if you’re a DIY person or a professional who can open up his devices and repair them, you can replace your iPhone battery yourself. Before you proceed, keep these important points in mind.
Make sure to use Apple batteries and proper smartphone repair tools.
If you don’t use an Apple battery, it’s likely that iOS will show up a warning notice and the Battery Health feature won’t work on your device.
If you aren’t a trained professional, opening up your iPhone might cause further damage.
Only proceed if you’ve understood everything and are ready to take responsibility for any adverse results. Under Apple’s Self Service Repair program, you have a repair manual to prep yourself, then order necessary tools & parts, repair your device, then return the replaced/damaged part for recycling.
You can also choose to buy smartphone repair tools or battery replacement kits from a third-party manufacturer. That said, if you choose to replace your iPhone’s battery on your own and you’ve got a water-resistant phone, it might lose its water-resistance after you’ve opened it up.
3. Third-party repair services
If you aren’t a DIY person or Apple’s iPhone battery replacement cost doesn’t suit well with you, there are third-party vendors that offer repair services. That said, be very careful while looking for third-party iPhone repair options. The iPhone battery price, repair quality, and whether the service process maintains water resistance varies from vendor to vendor. So, make sure to gather all the feedback and customer reviews before trusting a vendor. We do not recommend going for third-party repair services to replace iPhone batteries. However, if you’re confident enough, you can proceed at your own risk.

A.K.I. is the latest combatant to join Street Fighter 6’s roster. Though many high level players believe that A.K.I. is quite weak compared to the rest of the cast, it’s undeniable that Capcom did a good job of designing an interesting and unique character within the Street Fighter lore.
Though A.K.I. learned her techniques from F.A.N.G, she’s thematically a creepier character compared to her goofball master. Needless to say, it takes some degree of skill to truly pull off A.K.I.’s mannerisms in real life.
Some time ago, it was revealed that A.K.I. was essentially designed to be a “white snake that carries poison” during her development process. White snakes are typically supposed to be nonvenomous in real life, but A.K.I.’s pale complexion is meant to be a deception in this way.
However, A.K.I. also sports a black, open-backed cheongsam (Chinese dress) with black, skintight pants. The black portions of A.K.I.’s clothing are intended to represent a black mamba, and even the design of the front of her outfit resembles the serpentine patterns of a snake.
Unlike white snakes, the black mamba is thought of as one of the deadliest snakes in the world. Without treatment, a bite from a black mamba is said to be 100% fatal against humans.
Of course, A.K.I.’s snakelike qualities aren’t just limited to her appearance. During gameplay, she’ll also exhibit creepy snake mannerisms such as slithering along the ground.
From her Sinister Slide stance, A.K.I. can choose to cancel the stance to stand up, use Venomous Fang, Heel Strike, or Entrapment. In particular, her Entrapment command grab has her constricting the opponent similar to how a snake wraps itself around its prey.
As one could probably imagine, it would be rather difficult for a human to actually slide along a flat surface like this in real life. However, Akemikun has approached the problem with a unique solution with her A.K.I. cosplay.
First off, it should be mentioned that she replicated A.K.I.’s appearance quite well. In addition to the aforementioned pale complexion and black cheongsam, Akemikun has also recreated A.K.I.’s nails in which she uses to inject poison against opponents or assassination targets.
To pull off the slide, she actually has a little help from a friend. While lying on the floor, she has someone else pulling the towel that she’s lying on while pulling off the movements that A.K.I. is known for.
Apple’s iOS 17 brings a raft of massive additions and hidden features to enhance the user experience. That said, like any software update, iOS 17 also has some bugs and new settings that might confuse the users. Recently, several users have reported an issue where the wallpapers are being blurred at the top in iOS 17. This happens when a wallpaper image doesn’t fit a screen and a blur effect is added to compensate. While it may not be an issue for all the users, this might ruin the overall look of the wallpaper where the blur is prominent. Unfortunately, there’s no way to turn off this option right now. Fret not, as there are some potential workarounds to get rid of such annoyances. In this article, we’ll tell you three ways to fix the iOS 17 wallpaper blurry on top problems. No more waiting, let’s get started and set neat, good-looking wallpapers on your iPhone.
Why is iOS 17 burring my wallpaper?
The latest iOS 17 tweaks the way you can set an image as a wallpaper. When you set an image as your wallpaper that isn’t the perfect aspect ratio as your phone, the iOS 17 adds a blurring effect at the top to match the surrounding color of the chosen image and fit it as the wallpaper. Apple says that iOS 17 does this to offer a cleaner look and ensure that time, battery, and other indicators are clearly visible at a glance. In previous iOS versions, you would either have to zoom in or deal with thick black bars at the top & bottom.
Fixes for iOS 17 Wallpaper Blur at Top
Now that you have an idea why iOS 17 blurs the wallpaper on top, let’s understand how to fix it.
1. Choose a wallpaper of proper size
At the moment, there’s no known fix for iOS 17 blurring wallpaper other than choosing a wallpaper that perfectly fits the format and resolution of the iPhone you’re using. When you choose a wallpaper that’s tailored to suit your iPhone’s screen resultuion, there’s no need to zoom in or zoom out the wallpaper to accommodate it.
We’ve mentioned the screen resolutions of different iPhone models, so you can find a wallpaper that’s designed to easily fit the screen without having to make any adjustments. Let’s have a look.
iPhone models
Screen Resolution
iPhone 15 and 15 Pro
2556 x 1179 pixels
iPhone 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max
2796 x 1290 pixels
iPhone 14
2532 x 1170 pixels
iPhone 14 Plus
2778 x 1284 pixels
iPhone 14 Pro
2556 x 1179 pixels
iPhone 14 Pro Max
2796 x 1290 pixels
iPhone 13
2640 x 1200 pixels
iPhone 13 Pro & 13 Pro Max
2880 x 1320 pixels
iPhone 12 mini
2340 x 1080 pixels
iPhone 12, 12 Pro
2532 x 1170 pixels
iPhone 12 Pro Max
2778 x 1284 pixels
iPhone 11, iPhone XR
1792 x 828 pixels
iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone XS
2436 x 1125 pixels
iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS Max
2688 x 1242 pixels
So now that you know the screen resolution, go ahead and pick the best wallpaper for your iPhone that fits the display.
2. Don’t zoom in or zoom out the wallpaper
Until Apple provides an option to toggle the wallpaper blur on iOS 17, here’s a workaround that gets the job done in most cases. We know that iOS automatically blurs the wallpaper when you zoom in or zoom out an image to fit your iPhone’s display. So, while setting a wallpaper, do not zoom in or zoom out the image. Just set it as it is and this will help you fix the iOS 17 blurred wallpaper issue. You can see below the blur effect is applied at the top of the wallpaper only when you zoom in/out on the image.
If you still want to adjust the image to make it look the way you want it to be, you can crop the photo and make adjustments beforehand. Here’s how:
Open the Photos app on your iPhone and go to the photo you wish to set as wallpaper.
Then, tap on three dots in the top-right corner and choose Duplicate. This will ensure that you don’t lose the original image.
Select any image from these two options. If you wish to fill the entire iPhone screen with this image, zoom out the image and tap on Crop.
Otherwise, tap on Edit from the top-right, crop the image, and make necessary adjustments. After editing, tap on Done.
Once done, set the cropped image as your wallpaper.
3. Choose a darker wallpaper
If you’re worried about iOS 17 blurring wallpaper on the top, you can consider switching to a darker wallpaper. Why? This is because darker wallpapers or images with darker backgrounds can better conceal blurriness as they reduce the contrast between the background and the blurred elements. As a result, the blur is less noticeable. So, if you’re genuinely concerned about your wallpapers being blurred out at the top with iOS 17, make sure to choose a darker wallpaper for a better visual experience.
So you see that’s how you can fix iOS 17 wallpaper blurred on your iPhone. We hope these fixes help you prevent those annoying problems and set your favorite photo as your iPhone wallpaper. Which trick worked for you? Don’t forget to share your experiences in the comments below.

If you own an older Android phone, the clock is ticking for your WhatsApp. Starting tomorrow, the popular messaging app won’t be at your service if your device runs on a version of Android earlier than 5.0 Lollipop, as they’ve been warning for some time.
WhatsApp Abandons Outdated Android Versions: Are You Affected?
WhatsApp is bidding farewell to the older Android versions like Jelly Bean and KitKat, leaving them in the digital dust. If you’re still clinging to these aging operating systems, you should have seen the writing on the wall. The app has been sending out notifications about its impending retirement for a while.
Gizchina News of the week
Until today, WhatsApp was compatible with Android 4.1 and up, but that changes tomorrow. From now on, you’ll need at least Android 5.0 to keep chatting with your friends on WhatsApp. This means Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and KitKat 4.4 are no longer supported.
To put things into perspective, Android Jelly Bean 4.1 surfaced over a decade ago in 2012. While KitKat’s latest version, 4.4.4, was last seen on July 7, 2014. These versions are archaic, with less than 1% of active Android phones still using them today.
If you’re one of the few still clinging to WhatsApp on Android 4.1 or 4.4, you’ve likely been getting those warning messages. Starting tomorrow, the app won’t open, showing only a message with a button for more info. You can try changing your phone’s date settings. But that’s a temporary fix and only works if you activate airplane mode, rendering you unable to chat.
In short, you have a 24-hour deadline to move your WhatsApp data to a more modern Android device, running Android 5.0 or later. Given that even Google dropped support for Google Play services on KitKat, your best bet is to transfer your chats directly, without relying on Google Drive. Don’t procrastinate; the time to act is now. WhatsApp waits for no one.

During this time last year, Android 13 made it to the headlines for having support for dynamic theming for icons. It’s the next logical step towards personalizing the home screen according to the user’s preferences. After that, several mainstream apps became early adopters. That even includes Google’s own apps. However, certain social apps like Instagram did not prioritize theming support.
At the core, themed icons utilize the same Material You design guidelines. The Monet theming engine of Android picks out the core colors of your active wallpaper for this process. After that, it pairs hues together to offer a cohesive yet contrasty color scheme applied to all the elements. These elements include Quick Settings toggle, notification shade, and in-app elements. But for a while, many apps didn’t adopt the themed icon, which included Instagram.
Did the Forced Icon Theming Feature Work for Instagram?
During the beta phase, one version of Android 13 offered the option to force the icon theming on apps. This forced feature aimed to offer better aesthetics even if the app you want to change didn’t embrace it. The feature worked well, but it had a couple of flaws. But it didn’t mess up the Instagram app icon.
Gizchina News of the week
Unfortunately, Meta (the parent company behind Instagram) did not provide comprehensive support for the feature. But in a recent Telegram post, Mishaal Rahman, an Apex Android expert, shared that the v307.0.0.0.30 finally incorporates dynamic theming. This means anyone who will update the app to this version should see the app icon automatically borrowing the colors of the active wallpaper. (Google Play Store link)
Now, while Meta has updated Instagram for dynamic theming, Facebook still has the bright blue icon. Other social media apps, such as Reddit, Twitter, X, and LinkedIn, have already switched to themed icons. But hopefully, Meta will soon release an update for Facebook. We will keep you posted regarding the matter.
