  • Xiaomi 14 released with better Leica camera and HyperOS

After several speculations and rumours, Chinese brand, Xiaomi eventually released the Xiaomi 14 mobile phone today. This mobile phone is the latest flagship device from the company, and it comes with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. On the software end, this new mobile phone comes with Xiaomi’s new HyperOS. Let us take a look at the details of this device

    Xiaomi 14

    Screen

The Xiaomi 14 comes with a 6.36-inch 2670×1200 OLED direct screen developed by Xiaomi and TCL CSOT. This display uses a CSOT C8 luminescent material. This display has many upgrades with respect to its predecessor. The display is a 1.5K resolution screen and supports a PPI of 450PPI. The company claims that this screen has the same experience as the iPhone 15 Pro.

In addition to the C8 build material, the Xiaomi 14 display can hit a brightness of 3000 nits. It also supports a 1 – 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate which reduces the overall power consumption by 17%. The adaptive refresh rate means that the screen can automatically adjust its brightness with respect to the brightness in the environment.

The details of the screen are shown below

    • Size: 6.36 inches
    • Resolution: 2670 x 1200
    • PPI: 460PPI
    • Color depth: 12bit
    • Peak brightness: 3000 nits
    • Touch sampling rate: 2160Hz
    • Features: Support LTPO 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, DC dimming, P3 wide color gamut, Rheinland certification, support ambient color temperature sensing, ultra-dynamic display, AI automatic brightness

    TCL on Xiaomi 14 screen

TCL, which jointly developed this screen with Xiaomi, also had some good things to say about this display.  The company said that the Xiaomi 14/14 Pro “has achieved the improvement of small-size screen quality with its leading C8 luminescent material, LTPO technology, ultra-narrow bezel, ultra-high resolution, and other advantages, bringing users a small-screen experience full of surprises.” It added that the Xiaomi 14 small size “not only achieved a comprehensive qualitative leap in the quality of small-sized screens but also drove the Chinese screen industry to achieve a key leap forward.” In the future, TCL Huaxing says it will continue to explore displays with other brands.

    Xiaomi 14

The Xiaomi 14 comes with a single punch-hole screen, and with its small size, it can be easily held with one hand. This device also has ultra-narrow bezels and a straight screen design with equal width on three sides. No doubt, this design is eye-catching. The upper and both side bezels are only 0.9mm thick. However, the chin is 1.7mm.

    Xiaomi said

With the support of C8 luminescent material, the peak brightness of Xiaomi 14 series mobile phone screens can reach 3000nit, which is also Xiaomi’s highest brightness screen to date. With ultra-high luminous efficiency, the power consumption of the Xiaomi 14 series is reduced by more than 17% compared to the previous generation. It achieves a double leap in brightness and power consumption. This is also the optimal power consumption in the current 1.5K screen that can achieve the full brightness range.

In terms of eye protection, the Xiaomi 14 supports full DC dimming. This protects the eyes against potential harm, and the display has also passed the German TÜV Rheinland certification. It is a standard certificate that shows that the screen is safe to use and ensures eye protection for users.

    Gizchina News of the week

    Processor

    Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 comes with the new and latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm. This new chip adopts the new 1+5+2 architecture. It includes 1 × 3.3GHz Cortex-X4 + 3 × 3.15GHz Cortex-A720 + 2 × 2.96GHz Cortex-A720 + 2 × 2.27GHz Cortex-A520. This chip is supported with 8 GB, 12 GB, or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM as well as 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Xiaomi claims that the CPU performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has improved by 32%. The company also said that the power consumption of this chip has been reduced by 34%. The GPU performance is improved by 34% and the GPU power consumption is reduced by 38%. The average frame rate of the Xiaomi 14 “Genshin Impact” for 30 minutes is 59.53 FPS, and the maximum temperature is 53.2°C. This shows that the performance of this new flagship chip is pretty decent.

    Xiaomi 14

    Camera

In the camera department, the Xiaomi 14 comes with a 50MP main camera that has the same 1/1.31″ “Light Hunter” sensor with 1.2 μm pixels. This sensor is a new generation of Leica Summilux lens and Xiaomi is using it for the first time, with an aperture of f/1.6 and a 7P aspherical high-lens lens. This sensor supports OIS and is paired with a Leica Optical Summilux lens. The company claims this increases light sensitivity by 180%.

This device also comes with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera (Samsung S5KJN1) and a 50MP telephoto camera (Samsung S5KJN1, OIS). The 75-mm floating telephoto is identical. However, the 50 MP 14 mm ultrawide seemingly lacks AF and, in turn, macro capabilities. The 75mm Leica telephoto has a floating lens which means that it can take pretty decent close-ups and long shots. On the front, this device has a 32MP (OmniVision OV32B) lens for selfies.

    Battery & Connectivity

To keep its lights on, this device comes with a 4610 mAh silicon carbon negative battery. This battery supports 90W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. It supports the Surge P2 fast charging chip and Surge G1 battery management chip. In terms of connectivity, this device upgrades to a USB 3.2 Gen1 interface with a maximum speed of 5 Gbps.

The Xiaomi 14 also supports IP68, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, infrared remote control, stereo dual speakers, a 4-microphone array, and an X-axis linear motor.

    Price and Availability

This device is available in four colours, including black, white, rock green, and snow mountain pink. The glass version is 8.29mm thick and weighs 193g. The nano-leather version is 8.28mm thick and weighs 188g. Below are the prices of the different models of this mobile phone

    • 8GB + 256GB – 3,999 yuan ($547)
    • 12GB + 256GB – 4,299 yuan ($588)
    • 16GB + 512GB – 4,599 yuan ($629)
    • 16GB + 1TB – 4999 yuan ($683)

  • From nostalgic Easter eggs to hidden aliens here are 45 secrets you missed in the Tekken 8 beta

Much fun was had this past weekend by the lucky few who were selected to participate in the Tekken 8 beta, and while many were simply checking out how their favorite fighters felt in the midst of the latest Tekken mechanics, content creator Hi, Buff Gigas Please? had other plans.

With a keen eye out, HBGP was able to spot some 45 interesting details that you likely missed while playing. Many of these are Easter egg call backs to older Tekken titles, most of which are hidden in the backgrounds of stages and lobbies. Others are much closer to the actual battles as certain characters will have different animations or sound effects play out depending on whom they’re facing off with.

You probably noticed the prominent alien spaceships floating around in the sky of the new Ortiz Farm Peruvian stage, but did you spot the little gray alien who pops up in the Machu Picchu-esque ruins in the background?

Also when it comes to this stage, we obviously know that Azucena Ortiz’s family is in the coffee growing business, but did you know that their business is apparently sponsored by Leroy? A super close look at the cup Azucena holds in one of her cinematic animations features the outline of Leroy’s face next to the text “Smith Coffee.”

Nina players may have noticed some varying sound effects when it comes to her ff3 kick. Landing this move on female opponents sounds fairly straightforward, but landing it on male opponents causes an odd clanking sound effect to occur.

Kazuya players might know there’s a slight variation in the animation of his Rage Art when it’s used to K.O. a foe. The victorious Kazuya will proceed to kick his defeated foe after winning in this manner, unless his opponent happens to be his baby mama, Jun.

The cool thing about this video is that HBGP goes the extra mile to show the actual references and call backs in their original appearances. This makes things even easier to recall, compare, and contrast.

Check out HBGP’s full video below for plenty more intriguing details and let us know if any of these were particularly surprising to you in the comments.

  • Apex Legends Season 19: Conduit, Storm Point Update, Ranked Changes & More

apex legends season 19 - conduit abilities

Apex Legends is back with another new season, and this one is a major one as it not only brings a new legend “Conduit” but also makes significant changes to the Storm Point map. Apex Legends Season 19 is coming on October 31, and we have shared all the new features, legends and weapon buffs/nerfs, cross-progression udpate, and much more. So, without wasting any time, let’s dive in!

Editor’s Note: Thanks to EA and Respawn Entertainment for inviting Beebom to preview and playtest Apex Legends Ignite (Season 19).

    Storm Point Energized: Map Updates

    Storm Point Pylon
    Wattson Pylon replaces Antenna

After more than a year, the tropical Storm Point map has received some much-needed love, thanks to a storm that ravaged some of the most popular locations, including Fish Farms, Shipfall, and more. But thanks to the rescue efforts from ECHO and Wattson, we have an Energized Storm Point with a number of new POIs that look gorgeous and interesting.

Moreover, the size of the map has been reduced drastically, while bringing upgrades to about 40% of the map areas. So, here is a quick rundown of the map changes on Storm Point:

    • Wattson Town Takeover, Pylon, replaces Antenna in the center of the map
    • Devastated Coast replaces Fish Farms
    • ECHO headquarters replaces Gale Station
    • Coastal Camp replaces Shipfall
    • CETO Station replaces Prowler Next on the way to Mills from Cascade Falls
    • Zeus Station replaces High Point in the north of the map

There are several other smaller changes to other POIs too. If you want to read about the Season 19 Storm Point map changes in detail, we suggest you read our companion article linked here.

    New Legend Conduit Abilities

apex legends season 19 ignite - conduit

Making her debut as the 25th legend in the Apex Games, Conduit is a support legend, who has Filipino origins and a sunny personality. She stole a radioactive Titan battery from a modified Monarch Titan, and that is what powers her kit in the game. Check out a quick rundown of Conduit’s abilities in the Apex Legends Season 19 update.

    • Passive (Savior’s Speed): The Conduit gets a speed boost to catch up with overzealous teammates.
    • Tactical (Radiant Transfer): She sends out a surge of energy to her teammates, replenishing any missing shields.
    • Ultimate (Energy Barricade): The Conduit deploys shield jammers in a line that damage and stun enemies.

To read about Conduit’s abilities and how they work in Apex Legends, follow our guide linked here. What do you think about her kit? Let us know in the comments below.

Legend Buffs & Nerfs in Season 19

Alongside a new legend, Respawn is also making minor tweaks to some of the existing roster of legends in Apex Legends Season 19. Here is a quick recap of the same:

Bangalore (nerfed): Pop smoke, make ’em broke is still gonna be this legend’s motto, but Respawn is making slight adjustments to her kit to not make her seem overpowered in the current meta.

    • The duration of the speed boost for Bangalore’s passive, Double Time, has been reduced a little.
    • The time before the smoke from her tactical evaporates has been reduced.
    • The stun duration from Bangalore’s ultimate, Rolling Thunder, has been reduced as well.

Catalyst (nerfed): One of the most-picked legends in ALGS is getting a couple of nerfs, so players are more mindful while using Catalyst’s abilities. Here are the changes –

    • Her tactical, Piercing Spikes, will no longer block projectiles. So, you won’t find yourself screaming that a Catalyst Q just ate your entire mag and you died.
    • The tactical count has been reduced from 3 to 2 for Catalyst. Also, the throw range has also been reduced by a decent amount.
    • The lifetime of the Catalyst ultimate, Dark Veil, has been reduced by 5 seconds (30 seconds -> 25 seconds).
    • Also, the cooldown for the ultimate will now start when the wall comes up instead of when it’s being cast.

Revenant (nerfed): The “Forged Shadows” ultimate time extension you get when you knock a player has been reduced from 30 seconds to 3 seconds.

Pathfinder (buffed): Your friendly MRVN will now be able to scan care packages even after another Skirmisher legend on your team has scanned it. So, you can still get your zip line and reduced cooldown.

Wraith (buffed): Her tactical or ultimate hasn’t received any changes. Instead, Wraith’s passive “Voices from the Void” should generally feel more reliable. You should now hear quips actually before dying.

Newcastle (buffed): Respawn has shown some love to Newcastle, reducing the time to pull out your gun after placing a wall. Moreover, his leap height has also been increased in Season 19.

Vantage (buffed): She is getting an additional bullet in her ultimate Sniper, bringing it up from 5 to 6 bullets.

Weapon Buffs & Nerfs in Season 19

    wingman in care package

It was back in Season 13 when we first rumors that the Wingman pistol might be moving to the Care Package. Well, that dream of some players has come true. Check out the weapon changes in Season 19 here:

    Care Package Change

    • First up, Wingman is moving to the Care Package, and it has some amazing buffs. Read all about the upgrades in the linked post.
    • Wingman replaces the L-Star, which comes to the floor with some changes, as expected.

    Weapon Balances

    • 30-30 Repeater: increasing hip fire spread, thus, reducing accuracy on consecutive shots
    • Hemlok Burst AR: Reducing damage per bullet from 22 to 21
    • Bocek Compound Bow has received a string of buffs
      • Faster initial draw speed
      • Tightened Shatter Cap pattern
      • Toggle off Shatter Cap, if you desire
    • Boosted Loader hop-up removed from floor loot
    • Turbocharger damage nerf has been reverted

Moreover, the projectile growth of the snipers, i.e. Charge Rifle, Longbow, and Sentinel, has been increased. It only works with charged Sentinel shots. The Charge Rifle rework has seen players shying away from picking up this sniper, so it is receiving a small buff in the form of improved bullet drop ballistics.

    Crafter and Gold Weapon Rotation

With Season 19, a BIG and important change coming to the crafter is that the digital threat will never be in the crafting rotation. It has been pulled from the crafter, thus, shattering the dreams of Bang mains in the comp scene. Other changes include:

    • RE-45 and 30-30 Repeater coming out of the crafter
    • Volt SMG and R-301 AR are moving to the crafter
    • Gold Weapons in Apex Legends Season 19
      • CAR SMG
      • L-Star
      • Havoc
      • Longbow
      • RE-45 with Hammerpoint

    Cross Progression in Apex Legends

After making us wait for more than two years, the Respawn developer team is finally delivering on its promise. Apex Legends Season 19 has also brought along cross-progression support. You will now be able to merge your accounts and use a single EA ID to log in and play on any platform. Your progress, skins, badges, and achievements will be synced across all the platforms. So, learn how cross-progression works in Apex Legends in our dedicated guide.

Ranked System Change in Season 19

Respawn recently took to Reddit to give us an update on the existing ranked system. In the post, they confirmed some of the new changes, including the removal of rank restrictions on stacked squads. This means, if you are a Master rank player, it is now possible for your silver-rank friend to play with you. Though they will have to hold their own in your master rank lobbies.

That’s not the only change, though. In an attempt to discourage ratting and healing in the zone to gain LP and rank up, Respawn is adding a unique “promotional trials” system. This ensures that players can’t climb the ranks by just being passive spectators in rank lobbies. They will need to complete some challenges to cross the barrier over to the next rank.

These include time-limited skill challenges like winning a match, or getting 3 kills and finishing in the Top 10. You will have five chances to level up once promotional trials are activated, post which you will be levied an LP penalty. It extends up to 10 matches further on.

So that’s pretty much everything you need to know about what’s coming in Apex Legends Season 19. We cannot be more excited to jump in and explore the new Storm Point map. What are your thoughts on the changes? Let us know in the comments section.

In this article, we’ll explore some interesting hidden features in the One UI 6.0 beta version, giving you insights on how to get the most out of them on your Samsung Galaxy device.

The latest One UI 6.0 update introduces various new features and improvements to existing functionalities. Let’s delve into these hidden capabilities.

These Are the Hidden Features of One UI 6

Here are some cool features in the latest One UI 6.0 beta version. Follow these quick and easy steps to get started.

More Customizations for Your Lock Screen One UI 6

In the Samsung One UI 6.0 beta, the first feature is improved lock screen customization. You can choose from various watch styles.  Customizing the clock style will adjust the position of notification icons based on your chosen clock format. If you move the clock to the right, the icons move to the right. The same goes for the center and left. You can even change the clock’s font on your lock screen.

Steps to Change the Clock Fonts on One UI 6

    1. Press and hold from your Samsung lock screen to show the different clock options.
    2. Choose any clock style you want from the options.
    3. Next, select the alignment you prefer. You have the option to select left alignment, right alignment or proper alignment.
    4. Adjust the size of the clock to suite your style.
    5. From the multiple font styles, you can choose any of the fonts to change the fonts of the clock.

Changes to the Quick Settings Panel One UI 6

A single swipe in the quick settings panel reveals the regular notification panel. When you expand it, you’ll see a bigger version of the notification panel. Here, you can easily turn notifications on or off by tapping on the notification tile.

For the Brightness tile, you have two options, adaptive brightness and extra brightness, which you can access by tapping the three dots next to the brightness bar. The last notification tile includes two tiles: Smart view for screen mirroring and device find. You can also edit and customize your notification tiles to suit your needs.

    Notifications Panel One UI 6

Samsung has added Quick Settings instant access. To see quick settings tiles, swipe down from the right side. If you want to check your notifications, also swipe down from the right side. Multiple notifications from one app are grouped together. To view individual notifications, tap on the downward arrow. You can now organize notifications by priority or time.

    Addition of Android 14 Features

    Android 14
    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In the latest Samsung One UI 6.0 beta with Android 14, there are some useful features. One of them is the ability to drag and drop images to a different app. Surprisingly, this isn’t just for photos – you can do the same with text. Simply select the text from where it is, hold it, and then drag and drop it into another app. This can be really handy, especially when using the split-screen mode.

    Gizchina News of the week

To drag and drop anything on your Samsung smartphone running on One UI 6.0, just press and hold on the item and drag it to the preferred location.

    Upgraded Permission Access

Another valuable feature from stock Android is limited access functionality. When you open an app and grant it permission to access your data, you’ll now have the option to allow access to only specific photos and videos, rather than giving it access to all the images in your Gallery app. This gives you more control over your privacy.

How the New Permission Access Works

With the latest One UI 6.0, you’ll see an improved permission access feature. For example, when you choose an app that requests access to your media, you now have a new option: “Select photos and videos.” By selecting this option, the app will only be able to access the specific photos and videos you choose, providing you with more control over your data.

Text Call for Bixby Bixby Text Call

Another notable improvement is in Bixby’s text calls. Now, you can easily switch between voice and text calls during a call. When making a call, you’ll notice the option for a Bixby text call. By tapping it, you can change from a voice call to a text call or vice versa. This handy feature was not available in the previous One UI 5.1 version. Additionally, the new Bixby version supports a wider range of languages compared to the previous one.

Customize your Own Camera Widget Camera widget

One of the most exciting additions to the latest One UI 6.0 is the Custom Camera Widget. Now, you can place this widget right on your device’s home screen. It enables quick access to specific cameras and camera modes. To set it up, simply long-press the Custom Camera Widget, go to settings, and give it a name. You can even choose the background for your widget, either from your recent camera album images or by selecting an image of your preference. It’s all about making it your own and having easy access to the camera you need.

    New Weather App Design

In the latest One UI 6.0 update, Samsung has introduced a new weather widget that offers all the essential weather information you need. Furthermore, the weather application itself has undergone a redesign, providing even more information than before. This means you can stay better informed about the weather conditions right from your device.

    Changes to the Camera Settings

The Camera app’s user interface has seen some improvements in One UI 6.0, making it more user-friendly and practical. A new icon, the “super steady mode,” has been introduced. In the Settings section, there’s a new “Advanced intelligent” option that allows you to adjust quality optimization to maximum, minimum, or medium.

Additionally, a new feature called “Auto fps” has been added, which automatically optimizes the frame rate in video mode, enabling you to capture brighter videos in low-light conditions. These tweaks enhance the functionality and flexibility of the Camera app.

New Gallery App Features Gallery App

In the Gallery app, you’ll find some notable additions in One UI 6.0. They’ve included a new info icon with editing options like “remaster,” “portrait effect,” and “object eraser.” You can also access custom stickers, including the ones you’ve created. What’s interesting is that you can download custom texts and add them to your pictures. Furthermore, you now have the ability to copy edits you’ve made to one picture and paste those same edits onto another. These features expand your options for editing and customizing your photos in the Gallery app.

    Relocated Battery Section

A notable change in One UI 6.0 is the reorganization of the battery section. Previously located under the device care option, it’s now a separate tab. An interesting addition is the ability to tap on the Battery tab to view battery usage patterns. It might take a bit of time to understand and get used to these patterns, but they provide valuable insights into your device’s battery usage.

How to Locate the New Battery Section

    • Tap on the Settings App.
    • Scroll down to the point where you will see Battery and tap on it to locate the Battery section.
    • In the last version of the One UI, this section could be found under the Device Care tab. It has now moved to a location where it is easily accessible.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, Samsung’s One UI 6.0 update brings a host of exciting and practical features to a wide range of devices. With improved lock screen customization, changes to the quick settings panel, and enhanced notification management, users can personalize their experience. Notable additions include drag-and-drop functionality for images and text, as well as refined permission access, offering more control over privacy. The inclusion of Bixby text calls and a customizable camera widget adds convenience. The new weather app design offers comprehensive weather information, and the Camera app receives updates for better functionality. Furthermore, the Gallery app introduces editing options and the ability to copy edits between photos. The battery section is now a separate tab, offering insights into usage patterns. Overall, One UI 6.0 enhances the user experience and functionality on a wide range of Samsung devices.

  • You’ll need to fan off after seeing Silverr Fox’ glistening big booty Kitana cosplay

We’ve got some more beautiful cosplay from Silverr Fox today as she adds to all the Mortal Kombat 1 hype with her killer Kitana.

No, this isn’t the Mortal Kombat 1 version of Kitana, which is much more covered up with the additions of blue leggings and a bit more fabric across the board. This is the (ever popular) Mortal Kombat 9 version of Kitana, from back when NetherRealm Studios wasn’t afraid to show some skin.

We assume these were taken after a flawless victory win over Rain, as it seems Kitana is a tad wet in these photos. Shout outs to photographer Jeff Zoet, who sets these shots up with all the right lighting and angles to give Silver a regal aura about her.

Silverr Fox comes out swinging with back to back poses showing off the… back of her Kitana cosplay. These cheeky shots will have you groveling at the feet of the rightful Kahnum.

This third photo reminds us of Kitana’s victory poses from over the years. Fox holds her steel fans high as we get a good look at the front of her cosplay.

We have a little bit of an action pose here in photo four as Silver goes for a crouching light kick. We hadn’t noticed the silvery designs on her stalkings, but they come into full view in this shot.

We round things out with a ready stance as Silver prepares for battle. While we appreciate the view, we certainly wouldn’t want to be the ones she’s staring down like this. We know exactly what happens when Kitana delivers that kiss of death…

  • Respawn System Gets an Unexpected Buff in Apex Legends Season 19

apex legends season 19 respawn buff

We have all been in a situation where our surroundings seem clear of enemy activity, but a swarm of players rushes in the moment you respawn a teammate. Now, you make a run for your life and your teammate in the respawn ship is feeling helpless, ready to turn into a death box again. Respawn is looking to combat this and give players a chance to hold their ground after being respawned. The respawn system has received a surprising and MAJOR buff in Apex Legends Season 19, so let’s find out all about it.

Respawn with Loot in Apex Legends

Currently, when you respawn a teammate, they return to the game with the standard kit – a white helmet, white armor, two cells, and two syringes. They then need to replenish their inventory with weapons and loot.

This mechanic is getting buffed in Season 19. Now, when you respawn a teammate in a battle royale match, they will rejoin the match with loot and the armor they had on before their death in-game. Here are the exact rules for the new and improved respawn system in Apex Legends Season 19:

    • respawn with the armor you died with, along with the EVO points progress intact
    • respawn with weapons you had, but without attachments. However, you will not get back care package weapons on respawn if that’s what you were using.
    • You will get two stacks of ammo for each weapon you died with and have on respawn
    • Two cells and two syringes, the same as before

For example – I died with a purple armor with 680 evo points until the next upgrade. Also, I had an Alternator and Mozambique on me. I came back with the same shield and weapons on respawn. It was amazing! I will update this post with a video soon, so stay tuned.

What do you think about this change? Isn’t it just the most surprising and insane buff? You now have an incentive to respawn teammates since they no longer need to scour for loot and can join fights right away. Alas, due to this change, we will no longer get to witness magical moments like TSM Snip3down throwing hands in the final ring during an ALGS match!

This device is the top model in the Xiaomi 14 series, and it comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Xiaomi also added a new Dragon Crystal Glass to give the display an extra level of protection.

    Display

The Xiaomi 14 Pro features a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for an immersive viewing experience. This display is protected by Xiaomi Longjing Glass, which is a type of Dragon Crystal glass. According to the company, this glass is more durable and scratch-resistant than regular glass.

At the launch event, Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi 14 Pro screen supports its new “equal-depth micro-curved screen”. With this feature, when the screen is active, it looks like a straight screen, but it is in fact curved on all four sides. Lei Jun claims that the Xiaomi screen engineering team spent 2 years in pre-research. The company said it invested 18 times in R&D expenses and applied for 130+ patents to develop this screen.

The screen is curved on all four sides and also uses four-curved glass on the back. It has a 2K resolution (522 PPI), and Xiaomi claims it is “more outstanding than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.”

Lei Jun said that under normal circumstances, the screen is prone to cracks after arc bending. However, Xiaomi uses a 16.4 μm packaging layer and claims to use simulation modelling and stress analysis to build 1 million precision finite element meshes. This increases the elasticity by 1.5 times, making it more bendable and less breakable. In addition, this screen uses FIAA’s “in-pixel routing technology”. This adds a new metal layer and the signal lines are bundled within the screen. Below are the screen details of the Xiaomi 14 Pro

    • Size: 6.73 inches
    • Resolution: 3200 x 1440
    • PPI: 522 PPI
    • Color depth: 12bit
    • Peak brightness: 3000 nits
    • Instantaneous touch sampling rate: 2160Hz
    • Features: Support LTPO 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, DC dimming, P3 wide color gamut, Rheinland certification, support ambient color temperature sensing, ultra-dynamic display, AI automatic brightness

TCL on Xiaomi 14 Pro screen

    Gizchina News of the week

With the support of C8 luminescent material, the peak brightness of Xiaomi 14 series mobile phone screens can reach 3000nit, which is also Xiaomi’s highest brightness screen to date. With ultra-high luminous efficiency, the power consumption of the Xiaomi 14 series is reduced by more than 17% compared to the previous generation. It achieves a double leap in brightness and power consumption. This is also the optimal power consumption in the current 1.5K screen that can achieve the full brightness range.

In terms of eye protection, the Xiaomi 14 Pro supports full DC dimming. This protects the eyes against potential harm, and the display has also passed the German TÜV Rheinland certification. It is a standard certificate that shows that the screen is safe to use and ensures eye protection for users.

    Processor

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is the first mobile phone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor, which is built on a 4nm manufacturing process. The processor is an octa-core CPU with one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.3GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 3.2GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.3GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 750, which provides excellent graphics performance. This device also comes with 12 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM as well as 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

    Camera

On the Xiaomi 14 Pro, the company uses a new sensor called the “Light Hunter 900″ with a proprietary Leica Summilux lens. The camera is a 50 MP 1/1.31” sensor with 1.2 m pixels and a dynamic range of 13.5 EV. The aperture on the bespoke 23 mm lens is variable, ranging from f/1.42 at its widest to f/4.0 when closed. The sensor is approximately 44% smaller than the 1-inch imager found in last year’s 13 Pro. However, this new lens is around 80% brighter.

In addition, this device comes with a 75 mm f/2.0 floating telephoto camera. This sensor looks similar to the one on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. It can capture 10 cm of close-up images. It can take ordinary shots at 40 MP and portrait photos at 50 MP. This device comes with another 50 MP f/2.2 14 mm ultrawide camera that supports 5 cm macro shooting. On the front, there is a 32MP shooter for selfies.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro also debuts a 1024-level variable aperture. This can better adjust the blur and exposure.

    • F / 1.42 ~ F / 4.0 Infinitely variable, bringing a brand new imaging experience:
    • f/1.42: Excellent background blur, creating dreamy light spots,
    • f/4.0: Clearly magnify every detail and capture dazzling starbursts.

In addition, the Xiaomi 14 Pro is equipped with a professional street photography mode that supports a 4-stop variable aperture.

    Xiaomi 14 Pro

    Battery

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is equipped with a 4880mAh non-removable battery that supports 120W wired fast charging, PD3.0, QC4, and 50W wireless fast charging. The battery can be charged to 100% in just 18 minutes with the wired charger and 40 minutes with the wireless charger. The phone also supports 10W reverse wireless charging.

    Other Features

The Xiaomi 14 Pro runs on Android 14 with the HyperOS user interface. The phone is IP68 dust- and water-resistant and has a fingerprint sensor under the display. It also has several other sensors, including an accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyro, compass, barometer, and colour spectrum.

    Conclusion

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is an impressive mobile phone that boasts several high-end features. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor, Dragon Crystal glass, and 120W fast charging make it stand out from other phones on the market. The triple-camera setup and 32MP front-facing camera also make it an excellent choice for photography enthusiasts. Overall, the Xiaomi 14 Pro is a great option for anyone looking for a high-end mobile phone.

  • Mortal Kombat 1’s Tremor Kameo Fighter appears to have variations like Mortal Kombat X according to new teaser from Ed Boon

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games recently showed off Mortal Kombat 1’s first set of DLC characters slated to join the fight. Invincible’s Omni-Man and Kameo Fighter Tremor saw their big gameplay reveal at New York Comic Con 2023 earlier this month, and though the developers noted that this wasn’t a full gameplay reveal trailer, the showcase did provide some glimpses at what these two characters will be able to do in-game.

The first DLC Kameo Fighter, Tremor, saw a couple of his tools shown off during that trailer, and one attack saw him equip two large rocks on his hands to hit the opponent, while the other saw him firing a stream of lava diagonally up forward. Just a few moments ago, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon shared a GIF on X featuring another small teaser for Tremor, and from the looks of it he may have variations like he did back in Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat X was released back on April 14, 2015, and each fighter in that game had three different variations that players could choose from. These variations provided the character with varied tools that ultimately changed up their gameplay and strategies allowing players to choose the best one suited for them and the match up.

Tremor joined Mortal Kombat X as DLC in the game’s first Kombat Pack, and when he did he came equipped with the three following variations: Aftershock, Metallic, and Crystalline. Boon’s Mortal Kombat 1 teaser shows a close up of the point character and assist’s in-game portraits and meters, and we see that Tremor has something unique next to his name.

Two of his three Mortal Kombat X variation names can be seen in front of his name under the life bar in Mortal Kombat 1. The GIF toggles between the two of them, and we see “(Aftershock) Tremor” and “(Metallic) Tremor” shown here.

Unfortunately, Boon’s teaser doesn’t include much information on how Tremor’s variations work in Mortal Kombat 1. The only text he wrote with this post reads, “The [many] faces of Tremor ,” which seems to imply variations, but doesn’t tell us much about how they will work.

Will you be able to switch in between them mid-fight and get access to all new Kameo attacks depending on which is equipped? We aren’t sure just yet, but we should hopefully know soon as a recent leak suggests that Omni-Man and Tremor are set to release for early access on November 6.

Back in Mortal Kombat X, Aftershock’s unique traits included a ground pound special move that he could delay and see the effect of it take place a few seconds later. He could also send a shock wave down to the ground while he’s in the air that works as a quick check or punish.

In the Metallic variation, Tremor had a standard lava form and a gold skin form. His move properties changed depending on what form you were in, and gold gave him a unique projectile while lava granted him fire-based moves similar to the Kameo attack we’ve seen in Mortal Kombat 1.

His last variation was Crystalline, which gave him access to a move that covers him in crystal skin and absorbs a single hit. He also gained a move that lets him summon an interactable that he could either throw at the opponent as a projectile or jump off of as an escape option.

If I had to guess, Tremor in Mortal Kombat 1 might have his standard Kameo Fighter attacks, but he could also be able to switch between each variation mid-match and have those moves gain unique properties like they did in Mortal Kombat X. Unfortunately, the teaser from Boon below is all we have to go off of at this moment in time.

  • Noise Cancellation Comes to AirPods in 2024

A fresh report by renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg offers insights into Apple’s future headphone plans. The standout revelation in this report is the introduction of noise cancellation technology to the standard AirPods. It’s a feature previously exclusive to the Pro and Max models, making them pricier. This move is anticipated to reshape the market in 2024 if Gurman’s predictions hold true.

Apple to Introduce Noise Cancellation to AirPods

    AirPods Pro 2

Apple is gearing up to refresh its entire AirPods lineup, spanning from 2024 to 2025. This means that within the next couple of years, Apple will launch updated versions of all its wireless earbuds.

The most exciting updates will take place in the upcoming year with the release of the fourth generation of AirPods. These base models will sport a fresh design, improved battery life, wireless charging capabilities, and enhanced sound quality.

The design of the AirPods 4 will be a blend of the current models with the iconic look of the AirPods Pro, featuring smaller stems, though they will retain their non-replaceable tips.

The fourth-generation AirPods will be available in two variants. The pricier option will include the much-coveted noise cancellation technology found in the costlier models, and the case will boast speakers, enabling users to locate their headphones via the Find My network. Both versions will have cases with USB-C inputs.

Later in 2024, the second generation of AirPods Max will make its debut, though details on this model are scant. Gurman has only mentioned the addition of a USB-C charging interface and the introduction of new color options.

AirPods Set to Get Noise Cancellation Feature

The next iteration of AirPods Pro will launch in 2025. For these earbuds, Apple is reportedly developing new health-related features, likely tied to users’ hearing.

Apple, popular for its innovative strides in the tech world, is set to transform the wireless earbud market in the coming years. Gurman’s report suggests that the company is committed to delivering a range of exciting updates and new features to its AirPods lineup.

The year 2024 is a pivotal one for Apple’s wireless headphones. The fourth generation of AirPods will hit the market, showcasing a host of enhancements. This generation will inherit design elements from the AirPods Pro, featuring more compact stems while retaining the iconic non-replaceable tips.

Moreover, the AirPods 4 will come in two versions. The higher-priced variant will incorporate noise cancellation technology, a feature that has been a major selling point for the Pro and Max models. In addition to this, the new AirPods will have cases equipped with USB-C inputs. Notably, the case of the noise-canceling version will also feature speakers, enabling users to locate their lost earbuds using the Find My network.

The introduction of noise cancellation to the standard AirPods is a significant development. Until now, this technology has been a distinguishing feature of the more expensive Pro and Max models, enticing users to opt for these pricier options. However, with this update, Apple aims to level the playing field and make noise cancellation more accessible to a broader audience.

In addition to the AirPods 4, 2024 will also witness the arrival of the second generation of AirPods Max, Apple’s over-ear headphones. While specific details about this release remain limited, it is known that the headphones will feature a USB-C charging interface and come in new color variations. This move is sure to excite fans of the high-end audio experience offered by the AirPods Max.
