  • NYT Connections Hints and Answers for November 3, 2023

I don’t know why, but Connections has a habit of building me up with simple answers and then stumping me until I almost give up. Am I supposed to think about my family or go to Vegas and play poker? If you’re battling the same problems when solving today’s Connections puzzle, then welcome aboard. We discuss what exactly the answer to November 3rd’s NYT Connections is, along with subtle hints to guide you along the way. So, without further ado, let’s jump in.

    Hint for Today’s Connections Themes

If you want to learn more about what today’s categories are based on but do not actually want the exact answer, then check out these subtle hints first.

    • Yellow Category – Despite that
    • Green Category – You usually say these twice
    • Blue Category – These words can be cut down further
    • Purple Category – A higher status

Additional Hint: You need to think like a king to get the purple answer this time

We wish we could go into more detail in this section, but these hints are the best we can do. However, they are closely related to the actual categories, so think long and hard before you scroll below.

Spoiler Warning #1: While this section included hints for the categories, the next section names them. It will spoil the four categories for today’s Connections puzzle, so proceed with caution.

    Today’s Connections Category Names

If you are tired of us beating around the bush, here are the themes for today’s categories for the NYT Connections game.

    • Yellow – NEVERTHELESS
    • Green – REPEATED WORDS IN EXPRESSIONS
    • Blue – WORDS ABBREVIATED WITH LETTERS
    • Purple – ROYAL ___

At this point, you might have already clicked on some of the answers. The yellow and green categories remain an easy guess if you can just take your time and solve it patiently, which we highlight as one of the best tricks to solve NYT Connections. You might need to be a bit of a chronic texter for the blue answer, though. As for purple, well that’s another story altogether. If you’re still unable to figure out the answer, scroll down and check out the groupings.

Spoiler Warning #2: The next section includes the answer for today’s puzzle, and you will find all 16 words in their exact categories. So, proceed with caution if you don’t wish to be spoiled.

    Connections Answer for November 3

Have you finally given up and are ready for the answer? The answer to today’s Connections puzzle is as under:

    • NEVERTHELESS – However, Still, Though, Yet
    • REPEATED WORDS IN EXPRESSIONS – Hear, Knock, There, Tut
    • WORDS ABBREVIATED WITH LETTERS – Are, See, Why, You
    • ROYAL ___ – Family, Flush, Jelly, We
NYT Connections Hints and Answers for November 3, 2023

I had a good start around this time. As someone who chronically says ‘there, there,’ I recognized the words in green quite easily. The same case occurred with the yellow category, which I could guess within a few minutes. However, my troubles started with the blue one as I am not exactly the type of person who uses abbreviations or slang on Snapchat.

But after consulting a few Gen Z friends at work, I managed to get the answers to the blue category. The purple category, on the other hand, was annoyingly ambiguous and required me to think royally (pun very much intended) to get it. And like that, I had my connections answer for November 3.

So yeah, these are the answers for NYT Connections for today. How was your experience solving this word puzzle today? Where did you get stuck, if you did? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Google Expands Car Crash Detection to Five New Countries

Google’s commitment to safety features on its Pixel devices has quietly expanded over the years. One standout feature, Car Crash Detection, goes unnoticed until other brands imitate it. This lifesaving tool uses device sensors to detect potential car accidents and, when activated, can contact emergency services if you’re unable to do so.

Pixel Car Crash Detection Now Available in Austria, Belgium, India, Portugal, and Switzerland

    Gizchina News of the week

However, Car Crash Detection has its limitations. It varies by language and region, but Google is now enhancing its availability in several countries. Recently, Google updated a support page, revealing support for Car Crash Detection in five additional countries, increasing the total to 20. These new countries include Austria, Belgium, India, Portugal, and Switzerland.

Nevertheless, language support remains a hurdle. While India is now part of the supported countries, Hindi, the most widely spoken language in the nation, is not included. It’s a significant shortcoming for users who primarily use Hindi.

In an interesting twist, Google has revised the support page to exclude some devices. Initially, it stated that Car Crash Detection was available on “Pixel 3 and later” devices. Now, the feature is limited to “Pixel 4a and later” and “includes Fold.” This change suggests that regional support will not be extended to older Pixel devices.

Google’s Car Crash Detection is a valuable safety feature that can be a true lifesaver. While it’s not universally available yet, Google’s efforts to expand it to new countries show their commitment to enhancing user safety. However, the need for broader language support and the exclusion of older devices from the feature’s availability indicate that there is still room for improvement. Users in newly supported countries can now take advantage of this potentially life-saving feature on their Pixel phones. But the desire for more inclusivity and accessibility remains.

  • Akemikun’s Street Fighter 6 A.K.I. cosplay is legitimately perfect

Akemikun is a fantastic cosplayer that many got to learn about for the first time recently thanks to her incredible recreation of Street Fighter 6 A.K.I.’s Sinister Slide at TwitchCon Las Vegas 2023. With the help of a friend, Akemikun was dragged along the ground with a sheet while she imitated A.K.I.’s slide animation amazingly well at the event, and if you haven’t seen that yet, be sure to check it out.

Even more impressive, though, is that the cosplay of the character itself is also outstanding. Akemikun recently shared some new photos of her amazing A.K.I. cosplay and honestly, it’s flat out perfect.

The eerie newcomer to Street Fighter has a striking design that, though unorthodox, fans appear to really enjoy. A.K.I. has weird umbrella hair, slithers around on the floor like a snake, and contorts herself into strange and painful looking poses. She’s a weirdo, but she’s our weirdo.

I can’t imagine it’s easy to accurately capture the essence of such a strange character when it comes to cosplay, but Akemikun really does a fantastic job of becoming A.K.I. with this cosplay. From the outfit to the crazy hairdo, there isn’t a wacky hair out of place here.

The heavy detail put into the costume and specifically the claws is also tremendous here. This cosplayer really is the spitting image of A.K.I. and looks fantastic top to bottom.

A.K.I. is Street Fighter 6’s second DLC character. She is the apprentice of Street Fighter 5’s F.A.N.G, and similar to her master she utilizes poison in battle that deals damage to the opponent over time.

Akemikun has a slew of other fantastic cosplay in her repertoire. Check out her X (Twitter) page for other great depictions including Tekken’s Lili, Tifa Lockhart from the Final Fantasy 7 remake, gender swapped Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen, and many more.

  • ‘No Plans to Integrate Source 2’ in Apex Legends, Confirms Dev

    Apex Legends characters

Apex Legends is one of the best and most skillful battle royale games out there. Period. The game has been out for more than 4 years and now includes 20+ legends and a ton of additional content. However, that doesn’t mean Apex Legends is a perfect game and has seen a fair share of bugs, audio issues, and other complaints from the community. So, when Counter-Strike 2 was released earlier this year based on the new Source 2 engine, the community began to question if Apex Legends would ever get such an upgrade.

Well, I recently got a chance to playtest Apex Legends Season 19 and decided to pose this very question to the developers. Well, the short answer is NO. Apex Legends won’t get a Source 2 engine upgrade.

Now, it’s but natural for you to ask, why? It’s quite simple actually. Apex Legends is based on the Source engine, yes, but Respawn forked the Source engine a LONG time ago to suit their development needs. It was even before the original Titanfall game was released.

They have “modified the engine heavily since,” Evan Nikolich, Design Director at Respawn (Apex Legends), told Beebom over e-mail. He added that “the version of Source that was used for Portal 2 was not built with the intention to support a Battle Royale with large open spaces!”

In response to Beebom’s query about future plans and whether a Source 2 engine upgrade for Apex Legends is on the cards, Nikolich said, “We have changed the engine technology in so many ways and will continue to grow the engine to serve the needs of Apex. No plans to integrate Source 2 at this time.”

This is not the first time we have heard about Respawn’s decision to stick with their heavily modified Source engine for their beloved BR game. Previously, in a tweet, Respawn’s tech director, Michael Kalas said that their engine will “never be replaced in the Apex/ Titanfall universe.”

So, unfortunately, for fans who were expecting the launch of Apex Legends 2 sometime in the future, that will likely not be the case. The statement, however, tells us one thing. The developer team at Respawn is constantly evolving the engine to enable new features, like the recently launched Cross Progression. So, we can expect the team to continue making advancements to their engine to fix issues with the audio, latency, and more.

For now, don’t forget to hop into the newest Season 19 update of Apex Legends. Try out the cool new shield healer Conduit and the map changes on Storm Point. There’s a cute surprise waiting for you in Wattson’s Town Takeover.

  • A gingerbread cookie kit seemingly depicts Evo Moment 37 on its cover and there’s no way they didn’t do this on purpose

Somebody please check on Justin Wong…

You know, every once in a while you run into something on the internet that at first glance makes you think, “there’s no way this can be real!” Well, apparently this is very real, and I can’t imagine they didn’t do this on purpose.

Just yesterday, an X user discovered that there exists a gingerbread cookie kit that is themed around them being ninjas. This Christmas-themed treat has these gingerbread men (or “ninjabread” as they’re called) posed in fighting stances, and smack-dab on the cover are two ninja cookies fighting it out in the exact iconic pose from Evo Moment 37.

X (formerly known as Twitter) user SaturnBravo shared a photo of the kit on the social media platform yesterday and was as surprised to see it as we were. “HE’S DOING THE F***ING DAIGO PARRY,” they wrote in the post, and honestly… they’re not wrong.

The cover shows one ninjabread cookie throwing a high kick while the other ninja stands with their legs planted firmly on the ground as they hold up a hand to deflect the kick. Granted, these could very well be seen as standard cliche ninja fighting poses, but come on… There’s no way this wasn’t done on purpose. I refuse to believe it!

We have seen Evo Moment 37 recreated in so many different things at this point, and hilariously, it feels like the legendary parry has been popping up in Justin Wong’s life a lot over the last year or so. It has become a bit of a running gag that JWong is haunted by this moment (which he has fully embraced), and we’ve even seen Justin playing Street Fighter 3 Third Strike and trying to test opponents to see if they can pull off the sequence themselves in a real match.

Naturally, the ninjabread Evo Moment 37 found its way to Justin’s timeline, and he quote retweeted it with his reaction.

“NAH NO WAY THIS IS REAL… YALL TROLLING ME,” wrote Justin Wong on X. From what we can tell, it is real, and it’s spectacular.

The Evo Moment 37 gingerbread cookie kit is made by a company called Brand Castle and more information about it can be viewed on their website. If you want to buy it for yourself, you can find it on online retailer websites like Amazon and Walmart for between $15 – $20 USD.

We have covered the specifics of Evo Moment 37 about a thousand times here on EventHubs by now, but if you don’t know what it is, here’s the gist. Fighting game legends Justin Wong and BST|Daigo Umehara faced off in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike at a major tournament (Evo 2004), and during one round Justin attempted to use one of Chun-Li’s supers against Daigo’s Ken to inflict chip damage and take the last bit of health Daigo had left for the win.

In an unexpected turn of events, though, Daigo used the game’s parry mechanic to deflect every single hit of the super (which saved him from taking any damage), then proceeded to land a devastating jump in combo to turn the tides and win the round for himself.

The image of Ken parrying Chun-Li’s kick is burned into the brains of fighting game community members everywhere. Now, apparently that same image is on the cover of a gingerbread cookie kit.

  • How to Use iOS 17 Journal App on iPhone (Guide)

The much-awaited Journal app for iPhone is finally here with the iOS 17.2 update. The Journal app helps users remember and write about their experiences complete with details from their day, including people, places, activities, and even music & workouts, in addition to their photos. While the new Journal app in iOS 17 has a straightforward UI, many users may get confused or overwhelmed since it is brand new. This post details how you can use the Journal app in iOS 17 on your iPhone.

Create New Entries in the Journal App on iPhone

Primarily, the Journal app allows you to write entries with audio, photo, and video inputs on your iPhone. You can write about your fond memories and include pictures, videos, and voice messages, as well as location tags. Here’s how you can make a new journal entry in the Journal app on iOS 17:

Before you begin with a new journal, there are two options – Recommended and Recent. Recommended section is to give you a few topics you can start writing about. Under this section, you will see suggestions like “Write about something in your life that feels very meaningful to you,” or “What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever overcome? How did you do that?”

In the Recent section, there are Journaling suggestions, which Apple curates from your recent photos, trips, geo-location data, and the music you were listening to. For privacy enthusiasts, it is worth mentioning that Apple states that all the data shown in the Journaling suggestions is stored on the device and is not shared with any third-party app.

If you simply want to start writing from scratch without any suggestions and recommended inputs, tap on the “New Entry” button on the top. Here are the steps you need to follow:

    • Open the Journal app, tap the + button at the bottom center to create a new journal entry, and then tap on “New Entry” at the top.
    • Type in the text that you want to input in your journal. You can also add photos, videos, and music to the journal entry (discussed in detail below).
    • Once you are done with the writing process, tap the “Done” button at the top right and your new journal entry will get saved and appear on the app’s home screen.

    • Open the Apple Music app and play your preferred song.

Each journal entry has its importance in our life. However, there will always be certain journal entries that are more important than others or some that you no longer want to revisit later. To help you with this, the Journal app in iOS 17 lets you edit, delete, and bookmark entries so you don’t face difficulty finding them. Here’s how:

    • Open the Journal app on your iPhone and tap & hold a journal entry until a pop-up menu appears. Alternatively, you can tap the three-dot button available below the Journal entry.

Lock iOS 17 Journal App on iPhone

Journal entries are personal, and we all know how much Apple emphasizes user privacy; the same is true with the iOS 17 Journal app. To protect your journal entries from unauthorized access, you can lock them with the Face ID so only you can access them.

While the Journal app will prompt you to lock your Journal entries in the setup process, there is a possibility that you ignored it or simply crossed it off. In that case, here’s how you can lock the Journal app on your iPhone:

    • Open the Settings app on your iPhone, then scroll down and tap the Journal app here.
    • Now, locate and tap the Lock Journal option. Then, enter your iPhone’s passcode.

Change Entry Date in iOS 17 Journal App

    • Open the Journal app and select the entry for which you want to change the entry date.
    • On the entry editing screen, tap the three-dot button next to the entry date at the top.
    • Here, choose and tap the Custom Date option, then choose the preferred date and tap Done.

Set up Journaling Schedule in the Journal App

Journaling needs consistency, but it is easy to forget about penning down certain entries in our busy lives. To help you with the consistency issue, the Journaling app in iOS 17 allows you to set a schedule for the start or end of your day to help make journaling a consistent habit on your iPhone. Here’s how:

    • Open Settings on your iPhone, then scroll down and tap the Journal app to access the app’s settings.
    • Here, locate and tap the Journaling Schedule menu, then tap the toggle next to Schedule to turn on the Journaling Schedule for the iOS 17 Journal app.
    • Now, choose the days of the week and the time at which you want to write new entries in the Journal app.
Set a Journaling Schedule in the iOS 17 Journal App

And that’s it. We have shared everything you need to know about using the iOS 17 Journal app on your iPhone. If you find Apple’s latest Journal app lacking some useful features, there are some best Journal App alternatives you can use instead.

  • YouTube Premium Subscription Gets Pricier

If you’ve been reading our recent coverages, you may already know that YouTube has gotten pretty serious about blocking ad blocks. At the current stage, you can’t even view content if you’re using an ad blocker. With this, the company urged the users to opt for YouTube Premium to enjoy an ad-free experience.

    YouTube Ad blocking

Now, customers from all around the world with subscriptions have started to receive mail. According to it, the monthly fee of YouTube Premium is about to increase. As of November 1, the subscription is getting a price hike in Austria, Chile, Australia, Argentina, Germany, Turkey, and Poland.

This price hike applies to YouTube Premium and Music Premium. In other words, it has just become a little more expensive to enjoy the content on YouTube without ads.

    Gizchina News of the week

What About New YouTube Premium Users?

While the platform has sent out mail to the existing YouTube Premium users, the new users will immediately see the hiked price. Existing customers will get “at least three extra months” before seeing the increased price in their bills. According to the mail, this decision wasn’t made lightly.

But why does YouTube need to increase the subscription of its Premium tier? As per the email, the price increase will “continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists” of the platform.

    YouTube Premium Features

For those wondering, YouTube Premium is not all about having an ad-free content-viewing experience. In addition, it offers audio-only playback mode, background playback, and an offline download option. It also offers a 1080p option that delivers improved bitrate. This enhanced bitrate option has less compression, which results in better visuals. So, you do get a lot for the money. You can learn more about these features from the official website.

That said, it’s true that YouTube is always improving its Premium tier. And this price increase could bring more convenient features to the subscription plan. Hopefully, we will see them rolling out soon.

  • Brand new character Victor Chevalier revealed for Tekken 8

Bandai Namco has unveiled a second brand new character set to join the Tekken 8 roster. Newcomer Victor Chevalier has been revealed with an all new gameplay trailer.

This fighter hails from France and sees his own stage in the new Paris backdrop shown off during this showcase.

Victor Chevalier appears to be an older gentleman dressed in a slick gray suit. From his demeanor and behavior, it seems as though he is some kind of secret agent who is very skilled at combat.

Chevalier fights utilizing various weapons including a pistol, a laser sword, and a small dagger. The trailer shows off several of his attacks, with each weapon serving a different purpose: his pistol gives him access to a ranged projectile, the sword longer-ranged slash attacks, and swift and rapid strikes with the dagger.

Victor also appears to have some form of teleportation as well, which looks similar to Raven’s. Raven also makes an appearance in this trailer, which may mean these two characters have some ties to each other.

Bandai Namco has revealed that Victor is voiced by actor Vincent Cassel. Cassel is known for his roles in movies such as Black Swan, Ocean’s Twelve, and a live action rendition of Beauty and the Beast.

“Victor is actually the first French fighter for the TEKKEN franchise,” Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada wrote on X. “I have had the idea of a French character in my mind for a long time and it finally came to fruition.

“Thanks to Vincent Cassel for inspiring me and for voicing him. And the stage is Paris itself, where I took my first Seine River cruise over 20 years ago,” Harada concluded.

  • Apex Legends x Post Malone Event Brings New LTM, Iconic Skin Tier

    apex legends post malone event

It’s been two days since Apex Legends Season 19 was released, and I know you’re busy trying out Conduit and her shield healing abilities. But it’s time to gear up for the first-ever and biggest collaboration in Apex Legends history. Yes, as teased in October, the Rockstar singer Post Malone has partnered with Apex Legends to not only bring us new cosmetics but a cool limited time mode. Here are all the details of the in-game event.

Apex Legends x Post Malone Event Details

For those unaware, Austin Richard Post, aka Post Malone, is a massive fan of Apex Legends. During the lockdown days, he even streamed the game on Twitch and played with popular streamers like iiTzTimmy. Now, iiTzAusty brings an in-game partnership for “two weeks of beautiful mayhem,” as they like to call it.

The Apex Legends x Post Malone event will start on November 7th and continue until November 21st. Similar to Fortnite, this collab has given birth to a new “Iconic” skin tier, represented by teal color in-game. Available for Octane, Wraith, Horizon, and Lifeline, all these skins have been created in collaboration with and inspired by Post Malone. I mean, you can see Wraith donning face tattoos and Octane’s swag in this event’s skin is unmatched.

Moreover, the event will also include additional cosmetics for weapons and event-themed stickers. Respawn pointed out to us that players will be able to get three Legendary stickers if they unlock all the 20 event-themed stickers that become available on November 7th.

In addition to the Iconic skins, bundles, and stickers, the event will also give you a chance to unlock free cosmetics from a rewards shop. It will be similar to the compute nodes that we had to collect back in Season 17. You will need to earn “Camo Credits” by completing daily challenges, which you can then spend in the rewards shop to get skins, banners, battle pass levels, and much more.

Three Strikes LTM in Apex Legends: How It Works?

In addition to the usual cosmetic store that we expect from events in-game, the Apex Legends x Post Malone event also marks the debut of an exhilarating new LTM called Three Strikes. Yes, it is a baseball reference, as the game mode will give you three chances to prove your mettle.

Do you like to hot drop? Well, some of my friends too but playing “Back to the lobby simulator” is not my cup of tea. But this mode makes hot-dropping enjoyable, as you don’t have to go back to the lobby instantly when your team is eliminated. Instead, you will get resurrected with all your loot with attachments, armor (with Evo progression), and inventory intact, ready to take on the opponents once again!

three strikes LTM in Apex Legends

You can respawn twice and keep fighting, but the third time that you and your teammates die, well, it’s game over for you. To make the fights super sweaty and interesting, Respawn has some additional rules in place.

Firstly, you cannot finish downed enemies. They are TRULY INVINCIBLE as they don’t even have a timer for when things go dark. This means, that if you get downed and your team is far, you can just crawl across the map to them. No biggie, right? Also, no shield swaps for sweaty Wraiths! But you do have the option to cop out, just like you do in the Firing Range.

Secondly, there’s super fast revives enabled in the Three Strikes game mode. It takes about two seconds, and you are back in the game with around 70HP, ready to support your team and become the Champion. I mean, you can just spam Lifeline’s passive revive in front of enemies, leaving them helpless ().

I know you must be thinking about how the final zones are going to play out. Will we see squads flying in as the Round 6 ring closes in? I am sorry to break the bubble, but no as the strikes functionality will be disabled as we approach the late game. I don’t wish to spill all the beans and leave something for you all to discover when you play this game mode next week.

So, are you excited for some action-packed, sweaty games in the new Three Strikes LTM? What Posty song are gonna be bumping as you take down squads? Whatever song it may be, don’t forget to add “Too Cool to Die” to your playlists.
