  • Mauga Is the Newest Tank Hero in Overwatch 2: All Details!

    Mauga New Overwatch 2 Hero

Overwatch 2 has had its ups & downs. But now, the developers are finally gearing up to launch an exciting update. At Blizzcon 2023, Blizzard Entertainment surprised us with a brand new hero addition to Overwatch 2. Keep reading to know everything there is about Mauga, the newest tank hero entry in Overwatch 2. We will discuss his origin story and abilities as well!

Mauga Is the New Overwatch 2 Tank Hero: Who Is He?

Who exactly is Mauga? He is a member of the Talon Elite, the opposition of Overwatch. In the modern-day story where you play Overwatch 2, both Talon & Overwatch operatives can be used, and the present story is quite separated from the older days. So, Mauga is on the same team as characters like Reaper and Widowmaker. Talon is the main antagonistic faction in the Overwatch universe.

Mauga hails from Samoa and is closely related to Baptiste, who is a current Support hero in Overwatch 2. Mauga & Baptise have pulled off missions in the past together, and Mauga has even said that Baptiste is “the best medic in Talon.” In the Samoan language, Mauga’s name means mountains. He is also notably Overwatch 2’s first Samoan hero.

Mauga Overwatch 2: Guns & Abilities

Now that we have discussed his origins, let us talk about the abilities of Mauga. Firstly, he has two chainguns as his weapons, called Gunny (Incendiary) and Cha-Cha (Volatile). With Gunny, Mauga can light up enemies on fire with repeated hits. And with Cha-Cha, the hero can deal critical damage to enemies that are burning. These weapons can be used separately or at the same time. Mauga also has a plethora of abilities, which are:

    • Ultimate: Cage Fight is Mauga’s ultimate, and upon activating it, any enemies nearby get trapped inside a cage battle against him. Plus, Mauga gets unlimited ammo while being in his ultimate.
    • Passive: Berserker is Mauga’s passive ability, and with it, he gains temporary health after dealing critical damage to his enemies.
    • Overrun & Cardiac Override: These are his normal abilities. In Overrun, he will launch himself forward to stomp away enemies, and he is unstoppable while charging. After activating Cardiac Override, Mauga’s allies will heal upon dealing damage and also take reduced damage from opponents.

Mauga is already available in-game in the form of a limited-time trial that is active on all platforms. But he is only there for a weekend. When will Mauga officially come out in Overwatch 2? As per Blizzard, the developers will officially release the new tank hero in Overwatch Season 8, scheduled for December 5, 2023.

What are your thoughts on Mauga? Is he an exciting addition to the Overwatch heroes we have currently? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Crystalline confirmed to be Kameo Tremor’s third Variation in Mortal Kombat 1

Among the DLC Kameo characters that have been announced thus far for Mortal Kombat 1, Tremor is slated to be the first to release. Though Kombat Pack owners will gain early access to DLC guest character Omni-Man on November 9, it would appear that everyone will have to wait until November 20 to gain access to Tremor as a Kameo, Kombat Pack or otherwise.

To tide us over until November 20, it would seem that NetherRealm Studios has been teasing details about Tremor indicating how he stands out from the rest of the Kameos. Ed Boon himself teased how Tremor can access the Aftershock and Metallic Variations from Mortal Kombat X, but we now also know that the Crystalline Variation will also be a possible selection for fans.

Over on the official Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter account, we were told the classifications for Kameo Tremor’s Aftershock, Metallic, and Crystalline Variations.

The Aftershock Variation is said to be useful for “offense.” Meanwhile, Metallic is intended for “ranged” applications. Finally, Crystalline is said to be Tremor’s “support” form.

However, it’s still currently unknown how Tremor’s unique Variation system will work in Mortal Kombat 1 with him as a Kameo. In Mortal Kombat X, players chose their Variations at the character select screen. Following this, they were unable to change their Variation mid match.

The Aftershock Variation gave Tremor access to the Earth Shake and Air Earth Shake specials. The grounded version of the special caused a low-hitting hitbox to occur on the ground after a countdown. Air Earth Shake made it so that Tremor could perform a low hitting attack even while airborne.

Tremor’s Metallic Variation gave the character access to two different stances — Gold Skin and Lava Skin. While his Gold Skin stance gave Tremor access to projectiles that could be thrown at different angles, Lava Skin gave him access to specials that caused additional hit stun and unique hit reactions. Needless to say, Gold Skin and Lava Skin were often referred to as “Variations within Variations” for Tremor.

Finally, Tremor’s Crystalline Variation had the ability to temporarily apply armor to himself as well as place a unique interactable that could be thrown or escaped with. It’s worth noting that this temporary interactable could be used by either Tremor or the opponent.

Crystalline was often believed to be Tremor’s best Variation in Mortal Kombat X. Thanks to his ability to apply armor to himself, it was quite difficult to poke against his offense in hopes of taking a turn back, resulting in non-stop strings from Tremor against a blocking opponent.

Evidently, some fans were apparently dreading the possibility of Tremor’s Crystalline Variation returning in Mortal Kombat 1. For better or worse, it’s now been confirmed.

Based on what it does in Mortal Kombat X, it’s possible that it may apply a temporary hit of armor to the player’s point character when Crystalline Tremor is called. Additionally, Tremor may be able to place an interactable that can be interacted with using the Kameo button, even though interactables currently don’t exist in Mortal Kombat 1.

Regardless, Tremor’s release on November 20 will mark an interesting point for Mortal Kombat 1’s meta as this reveals that he’s effectively three Kameos in one.

The yellow category, too, was fairly basic and easy to guess from the start. I will be honest; the purple category did stump me for a few minutes because of Quadrant, but a colleague did point out that these just might be disguised numbers. In the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, a fresh section has emerged, allowing users to input their email addresses and link them to their WhatsApp accounts. You can access this new configuration page by navigating to the “Account” section in the WhatsApp settings.

    Gizchina News of the week

The email address integration appears to be intended to facilitate user login in specific scenarios. While this feature is optional, it’s a recommended step for those who prioritize enhanced security and account recovery. However, it’s vital to note that an email address should not be the primary method for account access; that role still belongs to your phone number.

Currently, only a select group of testers using WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.24.10 have access to this email setup feature. However, the app plans to gradually roll it out to a broader audience over the next few years.

If you’re interested in experimenting with the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android versions, there are a couple of methods to do so. You can subscribe to the beta channel through the Google Play Store. Or manually install the relevant APK files from APK Mirror.

For those who prefer a stable version of the app, you can download it from the Play Store. To stay updated on all things WhatsApp, consider following our WhatsApp news and updates. It seems that the app is enhancing user security and convenience. And this email address feature is another step in that direction.

  • From goth to Calvin Klein, 3D artist creates Street Fighter 6’s Cammy in mods too hot for the main game

The Street Fighter cast looks arguably better than ever in their RE Engine-fueled Street Fighter 6 appearances, but that hasn’t stopped the modding community at all from playing about with fantasy costumes and outfits.

While many of these aren’t all that fit for official release within the game (either because they’re a little on the sexual side or they just don’t have enough of a direction connection to the character) we still appreciate a lot of the creativity in action. 3D artist MikaDawn3D has put together some gorgeous images of some of these mods, most of which feature Cammy, and we’ve rounded them up for you to view today.

Perhaps the most prominent of all unofficial alternate costumes we’ve seen Cammy (as well as others) in are the simple but sexy Calvin Klein sports grey underwear. We have an image of Cammy in this outfit to kick the gallery off.

She also appears in a Street Fighter Alpha-themed bikini as the Killer Bee emerges from a night swim, as well as in some scarlet red leather as she pulls off a vampire look.

A goth version of Cammy smokes a cigarette in a pool hall featuring black lipstick, black eyeliner, ripped fishnets, and black clothing. This version of Miss White is fairly far from her standard personality, and yet we can’t say we wouldn’t fork over fifteen bucks worth of Fighter Coins to get it if it were offered as DLC.

Cammy isn’t the only Street Fighter character to appear in our gallery, however, as Chun-Li makes a few appearances as well. She has a similar nighttime swim picture, as well as a gym selfie workout wear one.

Even Rainbow Mika gets in on the action, taking up the majority of her single image with Cammy as she nails her foe with the biggest Shooting Peach we’ve ever seen.

  • Marvel Releases Trailer for Echo, Its First TV-MA-Rated Show

    Marvel Echo

Fans have been begging Marvel to revive the Daredevil universe, and it seems that finally, their pleas have been heard. Marvel has recently released the trailer for its new upcoming series Echo. The trailer beautifully tackles the gritty and violent element of Daredevil’s universe its fans have been missing for a very long time. Let’s see what Marvel has in store for its fans with Echo.

    Echo: Marvel’s First TV-MA-Rated Show

Echo is packed with a number of “firsts” for Marvel studios. It will be the first one in the history of Marvel shows to be rated for Mature audiences only, the first one from Marvel to make its debut on Disney+ as well as on Hulu, The first from Marvel to have every episode to binge all at once.

However, the greatest “first” Echo has managed to achieve is the introduction of the first-ever deaf and native American character. When Marvel’s Echo was announced during a press event, the director and Executive Producer Sydney Freeland of this series stated “Representation was extremely important to myself and to everyone on the crew.” Thus expressing how happy she is for being the mind behind this representation of both deaf and native American people. Echo is all set to make its official release on 10 January 2024 and can be streamed on Disney+ as well as Hulu.

    Source: YouTube/Marvel Entertainment

This series takes place in the universe of Daredevil and the events of Echo can be traced to after the events of Hawkeye. If we look into the comic book version of Echo, Maya Lopez’s father was killed by Kingpin but he asked the killer to take care of his daughter with his dying breath. Kingpin honors the dying man’s wish and takes her under his wing where she eventually grows into a master martial artist and a ferocious fighter. Sydney Freeland says:

“Maya is in a very vulnerable, emotional place after this. She’s got all this bottled-up emotion and rage and feeling inside of her, and she doesn’t know what to do with it. And there’s going to be somebody there to give her a little nudge.”

Freeland also states that Echo is not some space-traveling-cosmic thing with aliens or monsters but rather a simple ” Street-Level” drama and will go towards a totally different path as compared to what Marvel is doing as of now. She enforces this by saying “It’s not the fate of the universe at stake, this is the fate of a family.”

    Source: YouTube/Marvel Entertainment

However, Sydney didn’t let us in on any other Marvel characters that might appear in Echo but she was fairly open about what is going to be the superpower possessed by Echo, she mentions:

“Her power in the comic books is that she can copy anything, any movement, any whatever. It’s kind of lame. [I] will say, that is not her power. I’ll just kind of leave it at that.”

With all of this being said, it seems that Echo we will get to see on screen is going to be quite different from what we have seen in the comics. As far as I think, this is not something we should be afraid of, cause if Marvel can make something as twisted yet beautiful as Loki Season 2, it can definitely make an absolute masterpiece out of Echo. So, let’s wait for the series to come out on the official release date of 10 January 2024 and till then we will keep you updated on anything exciting that comes up!

  • Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK Sensor Breaks Cover with Enhanced Capabilities

Samsung has officially unrolled the curtains on its brand-new 50MP ISOCELL sensor. Called the Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK, the new camera module brings a lot of improvements to the table.

Among them all, the main improvements that the Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor brings revolve around the dynamic range. Additionally, the new sensor comes with better video-capturing capabilities.

More Details on Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK Sensor

The 50MP ISOCELL GNK comes with some similar specs as the predecessor, the 50MP ISOCELL GN1. To be specific, the new sensor is 1/1.3-inch in size and offers 1.12 µm pixels. But even with similar specs, the new sensor can deliver a better performance than the predecessor.

To offer that, Samsung utilizes different smart technologies on the 50MP ISOCELL GNK. For example, the new sensor has Dual Pixel Pro autofocus. With a greatly improved focus time, this tech ensures that the moving objects appear sharp on the captured images.

    Better Dynamic Range

    Gizchina News of the week

In addition, the new 50MP ISOCELL GNK can capture photos with a dynamic range of up to 120 dB. The new sensor works in three ISO modes to achieve such a wide dynamic range. This working principle also helps to reduce motion artifacts from the captures.

And there’s good news for those who like to use Pro mode to get the most out of the shots. The 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor can capture 14-bit RAW images.

    Video Capture Abilities

When it comes to video recording capabilities, the new Samsung sensor can offer 8K 30FPS videos. That too without losing too much of the field of view. The sensor also comes with FHD and HDR video capturing ability at 240FPS.

That said, Samsung hasn’t yet disclosed which devices will get the new 50MP ISOCELL GNK first. But devices with the sensor should start to roll out early next year.

  • E. Honda player pulls off a clutch comeback while in burnout during Capcom Pro Tour 2023 France Offline

The Capcom Pro Tour 2023 France Offline is one of the big FGC tournaments happening this weekend. Over 400 players have signed up to compete in hopes of qualifying for the Capcom Cup finals.

At one point during the tournament, NassimClaw, an E. Honda user, found himself going up against GyoGun|Moke’s Chun-Li. It ended up being an intense set that came down to its final game.

By this point in the set, both players already had one win over each other. The next player to win a game would continue advancing in the winners side of the bracket.

At the beginning of the second round of the game, NassimClaw opted to test Moke’s reactions with E. Honda’s Sumo Smash special. Moke ended up passing the test by anti-airing it, putting NassimClaw in a precarious position near the corner.

From here, NassimClaw was forced to eat Chun-Li’s Super Art 2. Following that, he had to block a series of normals that kept draining his Drive Gauge.

Before he could land a single hit, NassimClaw was down to his last bit of health and only a single bar of Drive Gauge remaining. Rather than allowing to to disappear by blocking, NassimClaw instead chose to spend it on a Drive Impact. It was a risky play, but it ended up paying off for him big time.

Rather than going for damage, NassimClaw used this as an opportunity to get himself out of the corner by performing a backwards throw. With his Drive Gauge now completely dry, his ability to inflict damage was naturally reduced. Most players might’ve opted to wait for the Burnout status to end, NassimClaw instead saw this as an opportunity to step up the offensive pressure.

In the end, it took three openings for him to completely obliterate Chun-Li’s life bar, all without a single Drive Rush or Overdrive special. Check it out below:

  • How to Use iMessage Contact Key Verification on iPhone

Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 17.1 to the public, and now it seeds the first Beta of iOS 17.2 for developers. Besides the much-awaited Journal app, the iOS 17.2 Beta brings the support of iMessage Contact Key Verification, a security feature that was first previewed in December 2022. The Contact Key Verification is a security feature that is extremely useful for people who often have to exchange private and confidential data, and wish to have peace of mind that the data is only shared with the intended person. Since it’s a new feature, you might have a lot of questions running in your head. But you need not worry as we’ve summed up all the details in this article. We’ll tell you what is iMessage Contact Key Verification and how to use it. So, let’s begin.

The iMessage Contact Key Verification is designed for users like human rights activists, journalists, celebrities, and government officials who face “extraordinary digital threats”. There’s a Contact Code Verification so iMessage users can verify that they are only talking to the person they intend to and that no middlemen are snooping their iMessage conversations. Apple claims that this feature can prevent even very sophisticated attackers from impersonating anyone in a conversation. There are three levels for how to verify contacts on iMessage.

    • If both persons have enabled Contact Key Verifications, they will be notified of any validation errors or issues directly in the conversations and Apple ID settings.
    • For stricter security, the iMessage Contact Key Verification users can also use this code in person, on FaceTime, or through another secure call.
    • Also, users can choose to create or edit a contact and then save a public key to turn on iMessage Contact Key Verification for that person.

Before you proceed, you need to make sure of the following:

    • At the moment, Contact Key Verification is only available in iOS 17.2 Beta, watchOS 10.2 Beta, and macOS 14.2 Beta. So, make sure your Apple device is running a compatible version.
    • If you’ve added multiple devices to your Apple ID, you need to update all the devices to iOS 17.2, macOS 14.2, or watchOS 10.2 Beta.
Prerequisites to use iMessage Contact Key Verification

Now that our basics have been sorted, let’s get to know how to use iMessage Contact Key Verification on an iPhone.

    • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on [Your Name] from the top.
    • Now, scroll down to the bottom and tap on Contact Key Verification.
    • Here, turn the toggle on for Verification in iMessage.
    • On the subsequent screen, tap on Continue.
Contact Key Verification in Apple ID Settings on iPhone
    • If you’ve added multiple devices to your iCloud account, you can update them or sign out of iMessage on each device.
    • Alternatively, you can tap on Remove Devices in Settings to remove them from your account.
    • Once done with the prerequisites, Contact Key Verification will be enabled on your iPhone.
    • From the same page, you’ll see the “Show Public Verification Code” option. You can tap on it to see the verification code that you can share with others to help them verify they are messaging with you. It is an 8-digit code that’s unique to your account. There’s also an option to copy this code. You shouldn’t worry about your privacy and security as the verification code doesn’t contain your personal information.
Enable Verification in Message on iPhone

Now that you’ve enabled iMessage Contact Key Verification, let’s see how to use it to verify your contacts.

Note: Contact Key Verification only works for iMessage, and not regular text messages. So, make sure you and the other person have enabled iMessage.

    • Open an existing conversation or start a new conversation with the contact you want to verify.
    • If your contact hasn’t enabled Contact Key Verification, you’ll see an alert in the conversation that your contact has turned off contact key verification.
    Contact Key Verification Turned Off
    • To verify the contact, tap the contact name from the top of the screen, scroll down, and tap on Verify Contact. Ask your contact to do the same.
    • Now, a contact verification code will appear on both iPhones. Ask your contact to share that code with you.
    iMessage contact verification code
    • If the shared code matches the code shown on your screen, tap on Mark as Verified. In case the codes do not match, tap on No Match.
    • Once verified, you’ll see a tick mark next to the contact name shown at the top. This indicates that you’re messaging with the right person.
    Contact verified on iMessage

That was all on how to use iMessage Contact Key Verification on an iPhone. Although a very small percentage of users may need this iOS 17 feature, it’s good to have a way to verify that you’re talking to the right person. Unarguably, highly targeted individuals will surely appreciate this latest addition. The neat part is this security feature doesn’t hamper the regular functionality of iMessage or your iPhone.

What are your thoughts on this feature? Let me know your views in the comments below.
