  • Intel China Confirms 14th Gen Raptor Lake HX Laptop Processors!

    Intel 14th Gen laptop Confirmed

Intel China recently held an event to launch 14th-generation desktop processors like the Core i9-14900K. At this launch, the company has confirmed a few other 14th-gen desktop CPUs coming in the future. However, it surprised people when it was also confirmed that we will soon see HX-series laptop processors too! So, let’s find out all the exciting details about the upcoming Intel 14th Gen HX-series CPUs!

14th-Gen Raptor Lake HX Laptop & Desktop CPUs Launching Soon

As you might know, Intel 14th Gen desktop CPUs have already launched. However, desktop processors utilize a “refreshed” Raptor Lake architecture rather than the Meteor Lake architecture, which is exclusive to new and upcoming Core Ultra processors. Intel will have both Meteor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh-based CPUs soon.

Source: X/@wxnod (translated via Google Translate)

This confirmation from Intel China was first spotted and shared by hardware leaker @wxnod on X (formerly Twitter). In the image above, you can see that the translation reveals that More 65W and HX SKUs coming soon,” which confirms that Raptor Lake S processors for laptops will launch later! Plus, by 65W, Intel China is referring to other 14th Gen desktop CPUs, such as non-K series, which consume 65W.

The different K-series processors (i5-14600K/ i7-14700K/ i9-14900K) all have a base TDP of 125W. Talking about the Raptor Lake HX series processors that will launch for laptops, we have already seen many leaks regarding them. The HX series class of Intel processors are made for high-performance laptops.

Here is a recent one on the Intel Core i7-14700HX that shows this upcoming laptop CPU will have an increased core count. It is shaping up to be a sweet upgrade over the previous-gen i7-13700HX. Although I speculate the i5 and i9 variants aren’t going to be major upgrades over the last chip but offer slightly increased performance and efficiency, as I have observed on the 14th-Gen desktop processors. The full lineup for desktop CPUs was also leaked.

What are your expectations from these new Intel 14th Gen processors coming for laptops and desktops? So, are you planning an upgrade to 14th Gen processor? Let us know in the comments below.

  • PlayStation to soon remove Twitter X integration which sucks for the fighting game community

Xbox did the same earlier this year as well

Sony announced today that it plans to remove integration and functionality for X, formerly Twitter, from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles very soon.

This is a notable blow for the fighting game community, which has used the social media platform for basically a decade now to quickly share clips online with an online game’s base.

Sony released a notice to their PlayStation Support page today that reads as follows:

“As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4 (or link an X account to do so).”

Twitter integration was included in the early days of the PS4, and the FGC quickly latched onto the feature and had continued to see widespread use after all this time.

Sharing to Twitter was typically the fastest and easiest way to share specific tech, cool combos, glitches and other discoveries made through quick online clips without needing to export them externally or jump through extra hoops.

After next Monday, the only way to quickly share online videos from PlayStation consoles will be through YouTube although they can also be moved to drives or accessed through the official PlayStation app.

Microsoft made the same move earlier this year to remove Twitter / X integration from Xbox systems and the Windows Game Bar, which seemed to coincide with a new API pricing setup for the social media company that could cost platforms like PlayStation and Xbox $40,000 or more a month to keep.

Interestingly, Nintendo will remain the only system to keep Twitter / X access on the Switch for now, but many in the FGC are going to need to figure out some new / different ways to quickly share content online — and may lead to even more of a push towards places like YouTube and Discord.

In another recent blight for the FGC, Microsoft announced that unofficial controllers are going to stop working on Xbox consoles this month, which will include unlicensed arcade sticks and widely-used converters.

  • OpenAI Launches GPT-4 Turbo Model with Latest Knowledge Cutoff

    sam altman announcing gpt-4 turbo

At its first-ever Developer Conference, OpenAI launched a new model called GPT-4 Turbo. It’s better than the GPT-4 model in every way and brings numerous new changes that developers and general users have been requesting for a long time. In addition, the new model is updated till April 2023 and is much cheaper to use. To learn all about OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo model, read on.

    GPT-4 Turbo Model is Here!

GPT-4 Turbo model supports the largest context window of 128K, which is even higher than Claude’s 100K context length. OpenAI’s GPT-4 model was generally available at a maximum token of 8K and 32K for select users. Now, according to OpenAI, the new model can ingest more than 300 pages of a book in one go, and that’s impressive.

sam altman announcing GPT-4 Turbo knowledge cutoff date

Not to forget, OpenAI has finally updated the knowledge cutoff to April 2023 on the GPT-4 Turbo model. On the user side, it has also improved the ChatGPT experience, and users can start using the GPT-4 Turbo model starting today. What’s amazing is that you don’t need to select a particular mode to achieve a task. ChatGPT can now smartly pick what to use when needed. It can browse the web, use a plugin, analyze code, and do more — all in one mode.

sam altman demonstrating new features of gpt-4 turbo model

For developers, a lot of new things have been announced. First off, the company has launched a new text-to-speech (TTS) model. It generates incredibly natural speech in 6 different presets. Furthermore, OpenAI has released the next version of its open-source speech recognition model, Whisper V3, and it’s soon going to be available via the API.

What’s interesting is that APIs for Dall -E 3, GPT-4 Turbo with Vision, and the new TTS model have been released today. Coke is launching a Diwali campaign today that allows customers to generate Diwali cards using the Dall -E 3 API. Moving on, there is a JSON mode that allows the model to respond with a valid JSON output.

Plus, Function calling has also been improved on the newer model. OpenAI is also allowing developers to have more control over the model. You can now set the seed parameter to get consistent and reproducible outputs.

sam altman announcing gpt-4 turbo pricing

Coming to fine-tuning support, developers can now apply for GPT-4 fine-tuning under the Experimental Access program. GPT-4 has been upgraded to a higher rate limit – double the token limit/minute. Finally, coming to pricing, the GPT-4 Turbo model is significantly cheaper than GPT-4. It costs 1 cent for 1,000 input tokens and 3 cents for 1,000 output tokens. Effectively, GPT-4 Turbo is 2.75x cheaper than GPT-4.

  • Easy Device Pairing for Google Messages for Web

As we noticed earlier and made the report, Google Messages is currently introducing “Device pairing” based on Google Accounts. This new move by the company is going to replace the old method of using QR codes. As previously mentioned, the updates to messages.google.com/web that included Google Account support. At the time, the phone feature was not accessible. Now, the company has made it available, and we are going to share the details with you in this article.

Setting Google Messages Device Pairing Google Messages

When you access Messages on the web (or a similar experience on Android tablets), you will be asked to confirm your Google Account using your Gmail address. After clicking “Continue,” you will receive instructions to “Open the Messages app on your phone” and “Match the emoji displayed here with the one on your phone.” On the “Trying to pair another device?” page, you will be presented with three-character choices. Once you’ve completed this step, you’ll be successfully signed in.

    Gizchina News of the week

New Changes to the Google Messages for Web Interface Google Messages

Google has made some slight modifications to the Messages web user interface by introducing a navigation drawer. It houses options for accessing Archived messages, managing Spam & blocked contacts, accessing Settings, and Unpairing the device. In the past, these options were tucked away in an overflow menu. Notably, the previous user interface is still available when using QR code sign-in, which continues to be fully functional.

Based on the current interface, it appears that only one browser instance can be active at any given time, much like the previous QR code-based system. However, it’s worth noting that you can simultaneously pair a tablet, and Google will provide clear identification of the Android device that is currently in use. You can identify the availability of the new Google Account experience in Messages through the updated Device pairing page. As of now, we have observed this feature on a single device running the latest beta release.

  • Rumors of the Nintendo Switch follow up having virtually no load times supported by T239 processor specs leaks and speculation

Digital Foundry (also on Eurogamer) recently posted an interesting video that talks about NVDIA’s T239 processor specs. Why is this important? Evidence suggests that the Nintendo Switch follow up will use this chip.

A hack and data leak from early 2022 revealed the existence of the T239. Coincidentally, back in 2021, kopite7kimi on Twitter bizarrely predicted that NVDIA would create a customized variant of the T234 processor for Nintendo, the T239.

Needless to say, the reported T239 specs seem to line up with the rumors suggesting that developers were shown a preview of the Nintendo Switch follow up at Gamescom 2023.

More specifically, it’s been claimed that this Nintendo Switch follow up was showcasing an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Matrix Awakens, featuring Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology, higher frame rates, and higher resolutions than what the Switch is normally capable of.

It was also said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was able to operate with virtually no load times on this enhanced console. As noted in Digital Foundry’s video, the T239 has a File Decompression Engine (FDE) which basically “allows for ultra-fast decompression of assets from storage into memory.” This FDE is not found in the original T234 processor.

Additionally, it’s believed that the T239 will have eight CPU cores, suggesting the usage of ARM A78C Cores. The GPU will likely use a 128-bit memory interface as it’s said that the 256-bit memory interface of the T234 process is “wildly extravagant” for a gaming device.

The absolute maximum memory bandwidth is said to be set at 102.4 GB/s, though it’s believed that Nintendo may downclock that for improved efficiency. For comparison’s sake, the Nintendo Switch has a memory bandwidth of 25.6 GB/s.

Ultimately, according to the hack, the T239 is a significantly cut down version of the T234, though this is due to the removal of features that would be redundant for gaming consoles. The T239 also has the aforementioned FDE that the T234 does not.

However, there still isn’t any viable way on speculating about the expected clock speeds of the CPU or GPU of the Nintendo Switch follow up. We also don’t know how fast the memory will run.

It’s also unknown if the T239 has the Deep Learning Accelerator (DLA) of the T234. A DLA is important for optimizing increased speed, efficiently and accurately for a computer utilizing deep learning algorithms — a form of artificial intelligence in which processing is handled in such a way that is inspired by the human brain.

Experts seem to believe that these type of specs may not be power efficient enough for a handheld console like what is believed to be the Nintendo Switch follow up. Check it all out below:

  • Genshin Impact 4.3 Characters Navia and Chevreuse Revealed in Drip Marketing

Navia and Chevreuse Drip Marketing Genshin Impact

The last few months have been wild for Genshin Impact and its fans. We got Fontaine and uncovered lots of mysteries, and the story will probably end in the last Archon quest labeled “Masquerade of the Guilty” in Genshin Impact 4.2. Still, there’s a ton of content yet to come out, not to mention, the characters that we saw and interacted with during the quest. Well, we have more info about them, courtesy of the latest drip marketing, which reveals details about the two upcoming Fontanians, Navia and Chevreuse, in Genshin Impact 4.3.

Yes, Navia and Chevreuse are now official in Genshin Impact. We did have some information about Navia, but Chevreuse’s drip marketing took us and a lot of people by surprise because we had only seen her quoting a few characters.

For those unaware, Navia is a five-star Geo unit and a Claymore user, and this was made clear during the cutscene in Act II of Fontaine’s Archon quest. Chevreuse, on the other hand, will probably be a four-star Sword or Polearm user. She wields a Pyro vision and her play style has probably got something to do with the gun she’s holding in the art. This makes her and not Clorinde the “first Fontaine character” that players get that wields a gun.

As for their availability, we know from the leaks that Navia is probably coming in Genshin 4.3 alongside a Raiden Shogun re-run. And since Chevreuse is a four-star character, we believe she will also appear alongside Navia in 4.3.

Most information about Navia’s skills and talents is still under wraps and in development. As for Chevreuse, her announcement came to us as a surprise. However, both the characters have now been announced, we expect more leaks about their kits, signature weapons, and lore should surface soon. We’ll let you know about them in detail in their standalone articles soon, so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Genshin Impact 4.2 will be dropping on November 8, featuring Furina and Baizhu in the first phase and Cyno and Ayato in the second, with their signature weapons in each phase. We still have a month and a half before both Navia and, hopefully, Chevreuse become playable. What are your thoughts about them? Leave your opinions in the comments section below.
