  • iQOO 12 Series Launches with Performance-focused Specs

The much-awaited iQOO 12 series has arrived. This lineup consists of the regular version and the 12 Pro. Both come with flagship specs, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

In addition, the iQOO 12 series packs an improved camera system. Of course, you also get better battery performance, display, and a sleeker design. As for the price, the regular model has a starting price of CNY3999, which is around US$549. The Pro model, on the other hand, starts at CNY4999, which is around US$686.

    iQOO 12 Pro Main Highlights

Among the two, the iQOO 12 Pro steals the spotlight as it is currently the brand’s most high-end device. Here’s a closer look at all its highlighted features:

    Design

As mentioned earlier, the devices in the iQOO 12 series come with a sleeker design. But the 12 Pro has a curvier body than the regular model. It also features a thin frame and boasts tempered glass panels on both the front and back. The unit is available in three different colors. Each of them comes with a unique finish.

    iQOO 12 Black

Among them, there’s the BMW Motorsport collab edition. It comes in a white colorway, featuring a porcelain enamel textured glass. On the other hand, the black iQOO 12 Pro features AG glass on the back. It features a soft texture that shimmers in different lighting conditions.

Lastly, the Red model comes with a vegan leather finish. iQOO calls this color variant “wind imprint texture.” But what’s really interesting about this color variant is that it comes with a Paris hobnail texture. In short, all the color variants have a touch of uniqueness to them.

    Display

The iQOO 12 Pro is a gaming-focused game. So, it goes without saying that the brand has put a good amount of emphasis on the screen. It comes with an E7 AMOLED screen featuring a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels. This resolution ensures detailed visuals.

But what’s really important is that the screen of iQOO 12 Pro has support for a 140 Hz refresh rate. This will make gamers enjoy fluid and smooth motions and animations.

    12 Pro Display

To enhance the visual experience even further, the display integrates 1440Hz PWM dimming. It enables the panel to smoothly adjust the brightness. On the note of brightness, the display of iQOO 12 Pro can reach up to 1600 nits in normal mode. And in peak mode, it can reach 3000 nits.

This brightness rating means that the iQOO 12 Pro can ensure a proper viewing experience even under harsh lighting conditions.

    SoC, RAM, and Storage

Another aspect where the iQOO 12 Pro showcases that it’s truly made for gamers is in terms of internals. The phone packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is the current flagship SoC for Android phones.

iQOO has paired that chipset with 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of super-fast UFS 4.0 storage. These specs make the device fully ready to offer great frame rates on all modern AAA mobile games.

    Gizchina News of the week

    iQOO 12 Pro Chipsets

In addition, the iQOO 12 Pro comes with the self-developed Q1 chipset. This chip ensures a smooth gaming experience at up to 144 Hz while the phone is at 1080p resolution. It also brings advanced features such as low latency frame insertion, super-resolution, and superframe.

Camera Configuration of iQOO 12 Pro

On the back, the iQOO 12 Pro comes with an all-around camera system. It comprises a 50 MP primary sensor, which is the OmniVision OV50H. iQOO has integrated a 23 mm optically stabilized lens, making the primary sensor deliver smooth images and video captures.

    iQOO 12 Pro Camera

In addition, the camera config of the iQOO 12 Pro has a 64 MP 1/2-inch telephoto sensor. Like the primary sensor, it features an optically stable lens. But for telephoto, iQOO has opted for a 70 mm f/2.57 lens. It can offer 3x optical zoom and can do 10x HD zoom with up to 100x digital zoom.

iQOO calls this periscope lens a 70-230 mm camera and says that it can even do telephoto macro. Then, there’s the 50 MP 15 mm ultrawide sensor. It also has a dedicated macro mode of its own. On the front, the phone offers a 16 MP f/2.45 selfie shooter.

    Other Spes

The other highlights of the iQOO 12 Pro include a 5100 mAh battery with 120-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging support. And in terms of software, the phone boots OriginOS 4, which is based on Android 14.

    Software

    iQOO 12 Main Highlights

The iQOO 12 comes with the same chipset and camera setup as the 12 Pro. But it has a different battery, charging capabilities, and display. Also, the regular version has a 12 GB RAM variant.

In terms of the display, the iQOO has a similar-sized panel, but it has a lower resolution, at 2800×1260 pixels. But the panel still has support for a 144 Hz refresh rate.

    Battery

Interestingly, the base model comes with two battery capacities. One variant has a 5000 mAh, while the other has a 4880 mAh cell. But both can charge at 120-watt in the wired mode, and there’s no support for wireless charging. The other specs are similar to the iQOO 12 Pro.

  • Tweedy releases a new post-patch tier list for Mortal Kombat 1

It’s been a couple of weeks since the latest patch for Mortal Kombat 1. Things are beginning to settle down in Mortal Kombat 1’s meta just in time for Omni-Man to be released as a DLC fighter.

As such, Tweedy has released a new tier list for Mortal Kombat 1. All 23 fighters have been divided up into the S tier, A+ tier, A tier, A- tier, and B tier groups.

Baraka was a clear contender for top 5 in the previous version of Mortal Kombat 1. However, he ended up being heavily nerfed with the latest update. Needless to say, he’s been dropped down into the A tier category of Tweedy’s tier list.

Tweedy describes Baraka as being “not solid, but good” during his video explanation. Though Baraka still has the potential to win tournaments, Baraka users will generally have to hit their opponents more times than they get hit to win now due to the damage nerfs. Despite the problems with his string gaps and projectile, he still has a tricky neutral to contend with.

The strongest characters in the game right now are said to be Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Ashrah, Raiden, Liu Kang, and Kitana. Meanwhile, Sub-Zero is all by himself in B tier, depicting him as the overall worst character in Mortal Kombat 1.

Check out Tweedy’s new tier list below:

  • Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Trailer Coming in “Early December”

    gta-6-release-date

It has been a while since we got any official update from Rockstar Games on the developments of any new GTA game. Earlier today, we got a GTA 6 leak that got fans around the globe curious. Only hours later, Rockstar Games President Sam Houser tweeted a thread confirming that the GTA 6 reveal is officially happening in December.

GTA 6 Trailer Coming Next Month

In an official X (formerly Twitter) thread, Houser mentions how Rockstar has been listening to the fans since 1988 and delivering delightful and entertaining games. At the end of the thread, he revealed that the official Grand Theft Auto (presumably GTA VI) trailer will drop “in early December,” which means it can be around the first two weeks. Now that’s a Christman gift that I’m hyped for.

In the same thread, Rockstar Games mentions it will be a new Grand Theft Auto game. So yes, our dreams for GTA 6 will come to life very soon. Moreover, next month will only see Rockstar reveal a trailer, presumably including the official logo and name of the game. We don’t expect in-depth gameplay details and a release date just yet.

Grand Theft Auto or GTA has been a revolutionary part of any gamer’s library. It is no doubt one of the pioneers of open-world games. As GTA V completes almost 10 years, it is about time we see the new game coming pretty soon.

  • Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion battles Spongebob Squarepants in clever and brutal stop motion animation

After years of being relegated to memes and jokes, Spongebob Squarepants has proved himself to be a true warrior in not just one but multiple fighting games now though does that mean he has what it takes to a ninja with decades more experience?

Well, D.M. Galloway recently decided to answer that question that almost no one has asked in a new stop motion animation that pits the sponge against Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion.

The impressive animation begins with the yellow ninja busting out his trademark chain to pull his opponent in before wailing on him, but if you’ve ever tried to punch a sponge before, you’d know it won’t be doing much damage.

It’s all fun and games until Spongebob busts out his trusty spatula, and then things take a more brutal turn in true Mortal Kombat fashion.

On top of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, Spongebob’s crew did recently get announced for Brawlhalla after Street Fighter and Tekken characters were also added to the platform fighter, so there’s a non-zero chance these two yellow karate masters will face off in actual game someday.

This isn’t the first time DGDX Animation has gone wacky with the MK cast considering he previously animated Ace Ventura taking on both Scorpion and Reptile too.

    Nintendo Patents Dual-Screen Gaming Device

According to recent reports, Nintendo has filed a patent for a device with two screens that can be split in half, similar to a more modern 3DS. The patent shows a device that can be used in a variety of configurations. The patent also shows a device with detachable controllers, similar to the current Nintendo Switch.

  • Apple Has Reportedly Paused Working on iOS 18; Here’ Why!

Holding an iPhone 12 Pro Max in Gold with Home Screen

Apple has stopped working on iOS 18, which is the next-gen iteration of iOS set to launch next year, as per a recent report by Bloomberg. Along with this, work on the next version of iPad, macOS, and other OSs has also been paused for a while. Check out the reason for this!

    iOS 18 Development Paused!

It is revealed that the communication to pause the development of iOS 18 has been given internally and is a result of too many bugs in the earlier build. Apple wants to fix the flaws before releasing new features for iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Apple completed the first stage of development of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 termed M1. While the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are codenamed Crystal, the next-gen macOS update is internally called Glow. The M2 stage is the one that has been delayed at least for a week and it remains to be seen when it will proceed. watchOS 11, codenamed, Moonstone, development has also been haulted.

The report highlights, “When looking at new operating systems due for release next year, the software engineering management team found too many ‘escapes’ — an industry term for bugs missed during internal testing. So the division took the unusual step of halting all new feature development for one week to work on fixing the bugs.

This comes after iOS 17 was plagued with a number of bugs like the infamous iPhone 15 Pro overheating issue, random shutdown options, and more. It seems like Apple now wants to focus on all the problems encountered with the current iOS 17 version so that next year’s iOS 18 is as bug-free as possible.

    Hidden iOS 17 Features

It is also suggested that Apple will delay the iOS 17.4 update until March due to the same reasons. For those who don’t know, it recently introduced iOS 17.1 with AirDrop and Apple Music features, among other things. There’s also the new iOS 17.1.1 update for several bug fixes.

We are yet to see updates on the matter and how Apple decides to go ahead. It would be best if it steers clear of the possible bugs with its next-gen OS versions for a seamless experience Apple offers. We will keep you in the loop with further updates, so, stay tuned!

  • Samsung Galaxy Fold and Fold 5G will no longer get security updates

Samsung has announced that it will no longer provide security updates for the original Samsung Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 5G. The original Galaxy Fold was launched in February 2019 and was the first mainstream foldable mobile phone. It had design and durability issues, and a revised model was released later that year. The Galaxy Fold’s last major operating system update (Android 12) came two years ago. Since then, it has been receiving security updates. However, these security updates will stop coming as well. Samsung has removed the original Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 5G from its list of devices that get security patches. This means that there will be no further updates expected for these devices.

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

Other devices from 2019, like the Galaxy A20s, Galaxy A30s, Galaxy A50s, Galaxy A70s, and Galaxy Tab Active Pro, will also no longer receive any security updates. Samsung has been generous in providing four years of full Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches for its devices.

For those who still have the original Galaxy Fold, it is recommended to move on to a newer device. This is because, without updates, the device may be exposed to attacks. The Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Fold’s successor, still has another year of updates left.

    Gizchina News of the week

    10. Google Pixel Fold
    11. Motorola Razr+

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

Some of these alternatives are cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Fold 5G, while others are newer models with better features. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Z Fold2 5G, and Z Fold5 are all newer models that offer similar foldable designs to the original Galaxy Fold. The Huawei Mate X is another foldable phone that offers a unique design with a foldable screen that wraps around the outside of the device.
