Microsoft has recently made improvements to the search experience on Windows 11. This change is to help users find work-related documents faster. The company issued a press release stating that it is improving the Microsoft Search search engine. Users will feel these improvements when using products such as Workplace Search, Windows systems, Edge address bar, and Graph Connectors.

In this improvement, Microsoft has brought many practical improvements to the Microsoft Search search engine. This includes searching for work-related files, folders, and document contents on Windows systems.

Microsoft Windows 11 users only need to open the search bar and enter the document name. A filter list will appear. Users can click “Work,” and all work-related document content will be automatically filtered.

Microsoft also provides a search tip. Enter “Work” in the search box or select the suitcase LOGO to search for work-related document content.

If you want to search for more related content, you can select related bubble categories to maximize the chance of finding the correct file.

Windows Search on the Taskbar

Windows 11 now has a search box on the taskbar that allows users to easily find whatever they are looking for. This feature is especially useful for work-related documents, as users can quickly search for files saved across Windows, OneDrive, SharePoint, and the Internet.

To access this feature, users can simply click on the search box on the taskbar and type in their search query. The search results will appear in a drop-down menu, and users can click on the file they need to open it.

Microsoft has also added the ability for users to customize their search experience on the taskbar. Users can access these settings by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting Taskbar settings, or by searching in the Settings app under Personalization > Taskbar.

Microsoft has also rolled out a new homepage for the Search & Intelligence admin portal, which is the central place to learn and administer Microsoft Search capabilities for an organization. The new homepage provides a single entry point to access a range of Microsoft Search features and functions, such as Graph connectors, user feedback, Microsoft Search educational content, and more.

The new homepage also helps users discover new ways to enhance their search experience and monitor feature status. This feature is especially useful for IT admins who need to manage search capabilities for their organization.

Narrator and Live Captions

Microsoft has also made improvements to Narrator and Live Captions, which can benefit users who are deaf or hard of hearing. Narrator is a screen-reading app built into Windows that can read text and describe events on the screen. Microsoft has enhanced Narrator’s usability in a few Windows apps, such as Outlook and Excel, added natural voices in different languages, and fixed many bugs across Narrator.

Live Captions, on the other hand, provides automatic transcription for audio, which can help users better understand audio content. The latest update includes support for multiple languages and changes to some of the menu items.

iOS 17.1.1 Update: What’s New?

The iOS 17.1.1 update has a fix for two primary issues. The first issue didn’t correctly show snow on the weather widget for the lock screen.

The second bug made Apple Pay and other NFC features unavailable on the iPhone 15 series (including, the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max) post-wireless charging in some cars (from BMW). These have now been resolved.

Apart from this, there have been a few bug fixes, possibly for Wi-Fi connectivity and unusual device shutdowns. There are no new features as part of the iOS 17.1.1 update but it’s always good to keep the device updated to ensure proper privacy and safety.

The update is now available for the iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series, and iPhone 15 series. The drill is to head to Settings -> General -> Software Update to download the update.

Apple is also testing the iOS 17.2 update with features like the Journal app, new widgets, a translation option for the iPhone 15 Pro models’ Action button, and more. The update is expected to arrive by the end of this year but there’s no word on when exactly this will happen. We will keep you posted with the updates, so, stay tuned. Trial Chambers Generation Revealed

Trial chambers generate only in the Overworld dimension. Moreover, you will mostly find them while exploring the deepslate layers. But occasionally, some parts may even occur in the stone layers. So, unlike the ancient cities, trial chambers don’t generate too low in the world.

The structure of the trial chambers varies greatly. You’ll find both small and huge chambers. Furthermore, the rooms in these buildings are procedurally generated, which means there cannot be two identical trial chambers. Next, you’ll find corridors, tunnels, cramped rooms, and wide-open large rooms. This structure is mainly composed of various tuff and copper blocks.

There are even flower pots, flower pots with dead bushes, and candles scattered around as decoration. Staircases and ladders link the floors together. Though, just like in the strongholds, the passageways may lead to dead ends.

Trial Chambers Dangers

Since trial chambers are pretty well-lit, thanks to the new copper bulbs being everywhere, natural hostile mob spawns are uncommon. But, considering this structure was made with a combat challenge in mind, expect it to be quite difficult. The main dangers come in the form of trial spawners. They are special mob spawners that adapt to the number of players nearby and summon an adequate number of mobs. Every trial chamber includes three categories of mobs:

• Melee (Zombie, Husk, Slime)
• Small Melee (Spider, Cave Spider, Baby Zombie, Silverfish)
• Ranged (Skeleton, Stray, Skeleton with Poison Tipped Arrows)

In addition, every chamber only spawns the same mob from each of the categories. These special spawners give players a hint for the type of mobs that will spawn indicated by the blocks around it. According to our testing, if you’re playing solo, you will usually face 3 mobs at a time. After you defeat them, the spawner will go into a cooldown state that lasts for 30 minutes.

One type of trial spawner also spawns a brand new mob — Breeze. It’s a wind-controlling mob with special ranged attacks that can knock back players and interact with certain blocks.

Finally, you will also come across traps in the form of dispensers filled with arrows, fire charges, snowballs, or water buckets. But you may also use them against the hostile mobs.

Loot in the Trial Chambers in Snapshot 23W45A

Loot is obtainable in several different ways in the trial chambers. You’ll find supply chests and barrels containing items and blocks that will help you navigate the structure. Those can include torches, wooden blocks, food, and more. Reward chests provide you with more valuable loot like enchanted iron armor, weapons and tools, enchanted books, precious materials, etc. Though, keep in mind that they’re guarded by the trial spawner mobs.

Besides those, you can break decorated pots placed around to obtain some precious materials, like amethyst shards, lapis lazuli, emeralds, iron ingots, copper ingots, and even a new item – Trial Key. A special new item that currently has no uses. Also, after completing the trial spawner’s challenge, it will award you with precious materials as well, proportional to the number of players that joined the battle.

Since the development is still in progress, all the mentioned features can change until the final official release. With that said, that’s pretty much it. In case you missed it, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 14 series in China last month. With this launch, the brand introduced HyperOS. It’s the new Android skin for Xiaomi smartphones. Recently, we also learned that the new UX skin will soon be debuting globally.

Among the first global devices to receive the update are:

• Xiaomi 13 and 13T series
• Xiaomi 12T series
• Xiaomi 11T
• Xiaomi Pad 6

But Xiaomi has confirmed that global devices with an unlocked bootloader won’t receive the HyperOS update. And what’s more interesting is that the brand is restricting Xiaomi 14 users to unlock the bootloader.

Why Is Xiaomi Against Unlocking the Bootloader?

Xiaomi has made some statements about why it is not allowing users to unlock bootloaders, especially for devices with HyperOS. Xiaomi says that it’s “to protect device’s security, avoid data leakage, and provide users with a more secure and stable user experience.”

Xiaomi has also said that it will allow unlocking the bootloader on a device with HyperOS under one condition. The user would need to apply for special permission through Xiaomi’s community forum.

Now, this isn’t something new with Xiaomi devices. MIUI devices, which are all the current Xiaomi phones with HyperOS, had bootloader unlock disabled. Users would need to apply for special permission to get their phones unlocked. This process has many other restrictions too. For example, the users would need to wait for a set amount of time after applying.

But for MIUI devices, you can apply for the bootloader unlock permission through your Xiaomi account. As for HyperOS devices, Xiaomi’s statements make it clear that you must go through extra steps.

HyperOS Restriction in China Is Even More Strict

If you think that getting permission through the community forum, Xiaomi has even stricter requirements in China. Chinese users of HyperOS devices will need to reach “level five” on the community forum to get their bootloader unlocked. The users also have to face a time-sensitive restriction.

That means the users in China might need to appeal many times to keep the bootloader unlocked on their devices. Also, there’s a limit on how many HyperOS devices one user can unlock. The limit is three devices per year.

But won’t Xiaomi pass these restrictions to the global users? The answer is no. The brand has confirmed that the aforementioned restrictions are only applicable in China. And the brand has said it will be making an announcement on its company’s forum on global HyperOS devices. This post will offer more details.

This restrictive approach for HyperOS differs from other smartphone brands. For instance, OnePlus and Google Pixel allow users to unlock their bootloader through the phone’s settings. There’s no application system, nor do the users need to wait a certain amount of time to unlock their phone’s bootloader.

What About the Eligible MIUI 14 Devices with Unlocked Bootloader?

As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi is also against offering the update to already unlocked devices. Xiaomi says, “Users will no longer receive any Xiaomi HyperOS updates if they leave their devices in an unlocked state.” But Xiaomi did say that users can receive the update when they lock the bootloader again.

This rule applies to all Xiaomi devices outside China. So, if you have an eligible device with unlocked bootloader, you should lock it again. Otherwise, you won’t receive the HyperOS update.

For those wondering, you can lock the bootloader through the Mi Flash Pro app. The process takes about 5 minutes, and the tool has an easy-to-use UI. But do note that locking the bootloader will delete the phone’s data. So, make sure that you back up the important files.

Thankfully, unlike yesterday, today was a much easier day to solve NYT Connections. I got the yellow and green categories in less than a minute. I mean, it was quite easy as diet and exercise are naturally healthy terms. The same was the case for compose and forward. God knows I’ve sent enough emails to get that.

The blue category, too, was moderately easy to guess as I had heard of the Up First and RadioLab podcasts. I did have to figure out WTF and Serial, but I got it after a missed try. The purple category, however, did stump me. While I know Dante’s Divine Comedy, I had little idea about the other terms. After missing out on a few tries, I lost and got my final answer for NYT Connections on November 9.
