  • Google Introduces Generative AI for Advertisers

Google is introducing new AI tools to make creating advertisements easier for businesses. This new technology will come in handy for both advertising agencies and businesses without dedicated creative teams. These tools cover various elements of ad creation, including headlines, descriptions, and images. Advertisers can use text prompts to make adjustments until they achieve the desired result.

Google ensures that it won’t produce identical images to avoid situations where competing businesses end up with the same visuals. This step-by-step ad creator is part of Google’s Performance Max ad campaign product, catering to platforms like search and shopping. It also includes an advanced image editing solution similar to the Magic Editor features found on the Pixel 8 smartphone.

Google Generative AI Ads will Make Advertising a Lot Easier Google Generative AI

This approach offers flexibility for businesses to adapt and customize visuals for different scenarios. Users can update existing visual ads while retaining essential elements. For instance, a user could reuse a model featuring a skincare product but replace the background with a Christmas tree for holiday-themed advertising. The AI tools also enable the generation of ad variations for diverse situations. Retailers using Merchant Center Next, a tool controlling product appearance on Google, will have access to these AI generative tools. To maintain transparency, all AI-generated ad content will bear SynthID, a metadata watermark that identifies content created using AI technology. Google’s initiative aims to simplify the ad creation process, making it accessible to a broader range of businesses, regardless of their creative capabilities.

  • Apple agrees to pay $1.8 million to settle gift card class action lawsuit

Apple has agreed to pay $1.8 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that accused the company of misrepresenting the security and value of its gift cards. The lawsuit claims that Apple misled customers about the security of its gift cards. They also said that the company failed to disclose that they could be easily hacked. This class action lawsuit alleges that Apple failed to adequately protect the security of its gift cards. This caused the value of the gift cards to expire when users redeemed them by unauthorized third parties. Users believe Apple should have informed them of possible theft risks in advance. They also claim the company should have taken additional steps to protect their gift cards. In this article, we will discuss the details of the lawsuit and the settlement, as well as what it means for Apple customers.

    Apple gift card settlement

    Background

The lawsuit was filed in 2021 by a group of customers who claimed that Apple misrepresented the security and value of its gift cards. The plaintiffs alleged that Apple failed to disclose that its gift cards could be easily hacked and that the company did not take adequate measures to protect its customers from fraud. The lawsuit also claimed that Apple misled customers about the value of its gift cards. It did this by failing to disclose that they could not be used to purchase certain items, such as Apple products.

Consumers argued that Apple misrepresented the value and security of its gift cards. They claim the company failed to warn users that their gift cards could be stolen. The settlement provides a refund for the lost value of stolen App Store & iTunes gift cards. Eligible buyers have until January 8, 2024, to file a claim.

    Lawsuit Details

The lawsuit was filed as a class-action lawsuit, which means that it represented a group of customers who had all been affected by the same issue. The plaintiffs sought compensation for the money they had lost as a result of the alleged fraud, as well as damages for the harm caused by Apple’s misrepresentations. The lawsuit was settled in 2023, with Apple agreeing to pay $1.8 million to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiff believes that Apple’s gift cards have silver scratch-off PIN codes. After purchasing a gift card, these PIN codes are equivalent to the customer’s “personal data”. If the PIN is leaked, the personal data will be stolen. To receive settlement benefits, class plaintiffs must submit a valid claim form by January 17, 2024. The settlement will provide compensation to customers who purchased App Store or iTunes gift cards between 2019 and 2021. It also applies to California users who purchased gift cards between May 2017 and February 2018. These users also experienced unauthorized redemptions of gift cards and were denied refunds or replacements.

    Gizchina News of the week

    Apple Gift Card Settlement Details

Under the terms of the settlement, customers who purchased App Store or iTunes gift cards between 2019 and 2021 will be eligible for compensation. The value of the settlement each class member receives will be up to a maximum of the amount they spent on gift cards during that period. Customers who believe they are eligible for compensation can file a claim on the settlement website.

According to the settlement administrator, anyone who bought an Apple App Store & iTunes gift card in the U.S. between March 2018 and July 2020, and whose card was redeemed by “an unknown third-party” prior to activation, is eligible for the settlement. People who purchased App Store & iTunes gift cards in California between May 2017 and February 2018 can also claim a refund. However, it should be clear that this settlement does not require Apple to admit any wrongdoing.

    Impact on Apple Customers

The settlement is good news for customers who were affected by the alleged fraud. It provides compensation for the money they lost. It also sends a message to Apple that it needs to take the security of its gift cards more seriously. However, the settlement also highlights the need for customers to be vigilant when purchasing gift cards. Customers should always purchase gift cards from reputable sources. They should also be wary of any offers that seem too good to be true.

    Apple gift card settlement

Apple gift cards can be used to purchase Apple products, apps, music, and other products through Apple’s various online stores. However, Apple customers should be aware of gift card scams. Fraudsters are sometimes requesting codes from Apple Gift Cards, App Store & iTunes Gift Cards, or Apple Store Gift Cards. They will ask people to make payments over the phone for things such as taxes, hospital bills, bail money, debt collection, and utility bills. Apple Gift Cards and App Store & iTunes Gift Cards can be used only to purchase goods and services from Apple. If you believe you’re the victim of a scam involving Apple Gift Cards, App Store & iTunes Gift Cards, or Apple Store Gift Cards, you can call Apple at 800-275-2273 (U.S.) and say “gift cards” when prompted.

    Conclusion

Apple’s $1.8 million settlement of the class-action lawsuit over its gift cards is a reminder that companies need to take the security of their products seriously. The settlement provides compensation for customers who were affected by the alleged fraud. It also sends a message to Apple that it needs to do more to protect its customers. Customers should always be vigilant when purchasing gift cards. They should also be wary of any offers that seem too good to be true. • Humane Ai Pin Is a Screen-Less Smartphone Alternative for You

    Humane Ai Pin introduced

Humane, formed by ex-Apple employees, has finally brought the Ai Pin, which has been anticipated for years. This is a standalone, small device and software system built specifically for the increasingly popular concept of AI and can perform a lot of smartphone-like tasks and can be its “screen-less” alternative.

    Humane Ai Pin Introduced

Since the Ai Pin is a standalone product (I would like to call it a digital broach!), it doesn’t require a smartphone to operate and well, aims to replace it. The device works when you interact with it using voice, touch, gesture, or a laser ink display (to project information on your hands). Unless this happens, it won’t do anything, not even listen to or extract your data, thus, becoming a privacy-focused product. The device features a Trust Light, which becomes an indicator when various sensors are being used.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and includes an ultra-wide RGB camera, a depth sensor, motion sensors, and a “personic” speaker that can create a “bubble of sound,” which increases or decreases depending on the sound levels. The device can also be paired with Bluetooth-enabled headphones.

The Ai Pin, much like a smartphone, can help you make calls, send and receive texts, click photos, listen to music, get notified about orders, and more. It can also be used as a voice assistant to get your tasks done while providing you with message summaries. But, instead of supporting apps, it supports AI experiences that can be stored on the cloud and on the device. The AI can also translate for you and can recognize objects. This starts with identifying food items to get information on their nutritional value.

The Humane.center platform can help you easily interact with the Ai Pin even when you have to set it up. The AI Pin comes with a latch, a clip, and shields as accessory options. It comes with a charging case, which supports a built-in battery and the Battery Booster feature.

    Price and Availability

The Humane Ai Pin starts at $699 (~ Rs 58,200) and comes with the Pin, an extra battery, a charging case, a charging pad, and a charging cable. There’s also a $24/month subscription plan in collaboration with T-Mobile for calls and texting capabilities. It will be available in the US, starting November 16 via the company’s website.

The Ai Pin is definitely an intriguing and futuristic product, which moves in the direction of making devices more compact. Using a small device to do everything you do on a phone is more than amusing and it would be interesting to see how this translates in the real world. It’s a one-of-a-kind device and we will have to see how capable (or not) it becomes. What do you think? Will you replace your smartphone with the Ai Pin? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Dragon Ball FighterZ modders unveil important game-changing feature tool coming

Dragon Ball FighterZ may be done receiving new characters and content, but the community has taken up the mantle of adding in what they’d like to see and play.

Prominent modders WistfulHopes and RCBurrito have been showing off an important feature tool they’ve been working on that will open up a whole new set of doors for DBFZ.

As first shown off by Ryn, they’ve figured out how to add new character slots on the character select screen for custom fighters.

Like the similar issue Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 faced, players looking to use modded characters would have to replace an actual member of the roster to use them.

Soon, those custom characters like RCBurrito’s Orange Piccolo (or Ryn’s Sol Badguy) can be put on the same team as their regular counterparts while having unique movesets and the works.

That’ll open up what’s possible with modding in a much wider fashion and will hopefully push even more support to the fan-favorite game similarly to what we’ve seen for UMvC3.

We also couldn’t help but notice that the Gokus on RCBurrito’s team were in their base forms too, so maybe there’s something more for transformations as well.

The character select mod isn’t available to the public yet it seems, but at this rate, it’ll probably come before FighterZ finally gets its rollback netcode upgrade.

  • Arcane Season 2 to Release in November 2024, Confirms Netflix

    arcane season 2

During the Geeked Week 2023 celebrations, we saw some nerdy stuff and announcements from Netflix. On the same day, we also saw Jinx walking towards a big red door in a clip posted by Netflix on X (formerly Twitter). The teaser is only 10 seconds long, but it ends with a big “November 2024” date at the end. This confirms the Arcane Season 2 release date as November 2024.

As this date announcement was just a teaser and similar to the Arcane confirmation teaser last November, we will get a trailer pretty soon. However, there is no confirmation of the full trailer release date. But, as a massive fan of this Emmy-winning anime series, we are already excited for an official release date.

As Riot Games has confirmed the story to be a Runeterra canon, the story of Jinx and Vi may end this season. We cannot wait for iconic champions such as Caitlyn, Jinx, and Vi to be back on our screens again. Moreover, in a recent Bilibili interview, Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent confirmed that the animation is in the post-production stage. This means all the League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, or just Arcane enjoyers will have to wait about a year now.

  • Humane AI Pin Starts a New Era of Wearable AI Tech

Originally showcased back in April of this year, Humane AI Pin has just made its official debut. It has one aim. That is, to answer the question, “What if you could attach your smartphone to your shirt, and what if it comes with AI?” That’s the essence of this innovative wearable product.

As the name suggests, the Humane AI Pin is a pin you can wear on your hoodie, shirt, blazer, or whatever you wear. And before you ask, Humane didn’t design it to blend with what you’re wearing. Instead, the design makes the device complement what you’re wearing yet stand out in a good way.

What Can Humane AI Pin Do?

So, Humane is planning to replace your smartphone by offering the AI Pin. When it comes to what it can do, the first thing is that it can take photos. It features a 13 MP camera, which can capture what you’re seeing. Humane will soon make it capable of taking videos.

You also get advanced image capture features. For example, the AI Pin has a feature that will let you “recall important memories.”

    AI Photographer

But the Humane AI Pin isn’t all about capturing what you see. Instead, it’s also about being what your smartphone can do. It can send texts and comes packed with an AI virtual assistant based on OpenAI and Microsoft techs. The wearable device also comes with Bluetooth.

Thanks to that, you can choose not to rely on its “personic speaker” that can offer a “bubble of sound, offering both intimacy and volume as needed.” Instead, you can just connect a pair of wireless earbuds to it and get a more private audio-listening experience.

    Humane AI Pin

Other than that, the Humane AI Pin has an AI Mic, letting you “speak to it naturally.” This AI Mic “supercharges search” and quickly finds what you’re looking for by contextualizing your query. Also, the device brings AI-powered messaging, which “can craft messages” in the tone of your voice.

The AI Pin even has a Catch Me Up function. As the name suggests, this feature lets you catch up with all the important things that you may have missed. Humane says that it “sorts through the noise in your inbox.”

    Catch Me Up

Moreover, the Humane AI Pin brings an AI-powered audio experience. As Humane said, it will make your musical experiences “come to life through a partnership with Tidal.” The device can also act as a personal language interpreter.

    Nutrional AI Suggestions AI Pin

    Gizchina News of the week

And the best part is you can make it act as a personal nutritional expert. The AI Pin can support your nutritional goals by utilizing its computer vision. It will identify the food you’re planning to eat and give you recommendations based on your goals.

What Does the Device Run On? Will It Stay On All the Time?

Humane AI Pin boots on Cosmos OS. It’s Humane’s proprietary operating system that’s “for the AI era.” At the moment, it doesn’t have any app support. But the OS blends “intelligent technologies” with the highest security and intuitive interaction. It can quickly and efficiently understand what you need.

    AI Pin

Once the AI Pin assesses what you’re looking for, it will connect you with the right AI experience. It can also quickly connect you to the service you’re looking for, making the device offer a better experience than your smartphone.

After hearing all these, you may be wondering what the battery performance of the Humane AI Pin is like. Well, in that case, you need to note that the device isn’t always listening to you. Instead, you need to tap and drag on it to enable the microphone and activate the voice input.

    Interaction AI Pin

When the AI Pin gets the activation signal, the indicator light, or “Trust Light,” will blink. This will let you and others around you know that the device is collecting data and is ready to respond to your commands.

    AI Pin Projector

Oh, yes, to make it easier for you to interact with the AI Pin, the device has a laser. It projects the stuff on your hand. Through this, the wearable is offering a makeshift solution to cover up its lack of a display.

Availability and Pricing Information of Humane AI Pin

The Humane AI Pin is available in three different colors. They are Lunar, Equinox, and Eclipse. When it comes to weight, the device is 34 grams and features a “battery booster” accessory. With that accessory attached, the whole setup weighs 54 grams.

    Humane AI Pin Colors

These boosters can have magnetic connection mechanisms and can be hot-swapped. They wirelessly charge the device when attached.

When it comes to internals, all we know is that the Humane AI Pin is powered by a Snapdragon SoC. But it’s still unknown which exact CPU is powering the device.

Regarding pricing, the AI Pin is now available for US$699. That price gets you the device and two battery boosters. When you add a US$24 subscription to the purchase, you get a phone number and data that’s offered by T-Mobile. Pre-orders are starting on November 16, and Humane plans to shift them early next year.

  • What exactly makes JP a top 3 character in Street Fighter 6?

In a recent episode of Talk and Block Catalyst, DreamKing, and I spoke on the three arguably best characters in Street Fighter 6: Luke, Ken, and JP.

The idea here is to put these frustrating fighters under the microscope to help our audience fight them, but also to try to tease out the common threads that run through all three so as to better understand what tools tend to make characters the best in SF6. Below you’ll find our discussion surrounding JP.

Unlike Luke and Ken, JP is a zoning character that performs best when he’s as far away as possible. His multitude of projectile attacks paired with the ability to teleport naturally makes him a threat from further ranges, but JP also boasts a handful of powerful buttons that he can convert off of from closer up.

His crouching jab, for instance, is especially useful as it has a four frame start up (the fastest a move can be in SF6) and can be easily confirmed into his cane spin special that knocks opponents back to a range where he can begin zoning them again.

Everyone knows that pressuring JP is a risk in and of itself since he has the unconventional Amnesia counter, the OD version of which beats both strikes as well as throws. This maneuver has proven especially frustrating to the SF6 crowd, though more and more players are learning ways to bait it out and punish it fully.

Indeed, JP has a strong tool for just about every situation in this game, and while there are most certainly answers and means of thwarting most all of them, being ready for the right counter at the right time can prove especially difficult because of his sheer wealth of options.

We discuss each of these particular strengths along with others during the segment, but also spend some time pointing out where JP’s weaknesses are. When you’re just outside of sweep distance, for instance, most all of the boss characters’ relevant maneuvers become commitments.

His projectiles have relatively longer start up times and fewer active frames than other fireball chucking characters, making him more susceptible to jumps and sudden Drive Rushes at the mentioned range.

Neither his farthest reaching poke (standing medium punch) as well as his low-hitting poke (crouching medium kick) can be cancelled, making them both vulnerable to Drive Impact. Neither jumping nor Drive Impacting are coverall answers to beat JP, of course, but understanding when and where to strategically use these maneuvers (and where not to) is a major part of the battle.

Check out the video below to hear all of what we have to say about JP and be sure to leave a comment here and directly on the video on YouTube sharing any and all thoughts you have. If you enjoy this content be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel for plenty more.

  • Discord Will Soon Have Disappearing Download Links

    Discord.io suffers massive data breach

The popular gaming/messaging platform Discord has always been a safe haven not just for party communication but for sharing external files through the platform’s servers. However, that is now set to end as Discord is soon going to have disappearing download links. Read more about this change below.

In a statement to BleepingComputer, Discord has confirmed that it will soon adapt disappearing file links. This means that all links hosted on Discord servers will vanish after 24 hours. So, if you use the platform for storing permanent download links, you may need to find an alternative. There won’t be any impact on people who share the links within the Discord client and the links will be auto-refreshed.

Discord says that this change is part of its mission to curb the spread of malware via its CDN (content delivery network) by attackers. This has been a common practice on Discord and the platform is finally working towards solving it. The aim is to create a safer and more private environment for users. If you are concerned about how you will look for other options and that your links will be lost, you have until the end of this year.

The statement reads, “Discord developers may see minimal impact and we’re working closely with the community on the transition. These changes will roll out later this year and we’ll share more info with developers in the coming weeks.

Discord adds, “To access the attachment CDN link after the link expires, your app will need to fetch a new CDN URL. The API will automatically return valid, non-expired URLs when you access resources that contain an attachment CDN URL, like when retrieving a message.

It is also revealed that CDN links will come with expiration timestamps and labels, which will remain valid until the expiry time. These changes are being implemented to Discord links but proper rollout hasn’t begun. Links shared outside of Discord servers will expire once the authentication enforcement changes are put in place. So, what are your thoughts on the new changes Discord will see soon? Are you disappointed? Let us know in the comments below.
