Omni-Man from the Invincible series has joined as Mortal Kombat 1’s newest combatant. Though he has the appearance of a superhero like Superman, he’s actually very violent and blunt with regards to how he fights.
Just like any character in Mortal Kombat 1, Omni-Man has his own set of unique intro dialogue with every character in the roster. Funnily enough, his intro dialogue with Sindel ended up referencing the worst line in video game movie history.
When attempting to intimidate opponents during his intro dialogue, Omni-Man tends to be very blunt about how powerful he is compared to regular humans. Other times, he’ll reference things from the Invincible series such as his son or wife.
However, his intro dialogue with Rain is particularly amusing as it’s a rare moment that has him jokingly mocking his opponent. “Stop. Please. Don’t hit me with… water,” begins Omni-Man during the exchange.
While speaking, you can actually see Omni-Man holding back a smile and rolling his eyes. Rain attempts to regain some of his pride by mentioning that he can drown an entire city, but even this doesn’t appear to faze Omni-Man.
It should also be noted that Omni-Man has no qualms about dropping the f-bomb during dialogue with other fighters, so be ready for that in the video. Check it all out below:
Capcom is not one to shy away from crossovers and special promotions with their biggest franchises, and we’ve got a new one on our hands now.
Ubisoft just announced and released Street Fighter 6 costumes into Rainbow Six Siege for Ryu and Chun-Li.
During today’s Operation Deep Freeze stream ahead of Season 4, the company unveiled the premium skins for the popular team shooter.
The Operator Grim gets to be Ryu in his SF6 attire while Ying dresses up in Chun-Li’s newest design plus weapon skins.
Grim’s Ryu bundle is comprised of the Wandering Fighter Headgear, Wandering Fighter Uniform, Furikazan 552 Commando Weapon Skin, Wandering Fighter Operator Portrait, Genbu Temple Card Background, Ryu Street Tag Charm.
Meanwhile, Ying’s Chun-Li Bundle includes Spring Beauty Headgear, Spring Beauty Uniform, Hyakuretsuyaku T-95 LSW Weapon Skin, Spring Beauty Operator Portrait, Tain Hong Yuan Card Background, and the Chun-Li Street Tag Charm.
Both bundles are priced at 1,944 R6 Credits each, which will cost you around $20 apiece or $35 for both depending on the credit bundles purchased.
These skins ironically come as Street Fighter 6 players have been waiting almost six months now for new costumes to come to the fighting game (besides the avatar outfits), but we still don’t have a date on those yet.
Hell, we haven’t even seen what all of them are going to look like yet though that’ll hopefully be coming in the next month or so to break up the releases of A.K.I. and Ed as new fighters.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ryu and Chun pick up guns and firearms in games either considering they’ve been featured as skins in Fortnite and PUBG: Battlegrounds as well previously.
Today’s NYT Connections was a relatively light experience. Connections Answer for November 13
Have you finally given up and are ready for the answer? The answers to today’s Connections puzzle are:
UNIT OF LANGUAGE – Letter, Paragraph, Sentence, Word
TRADEMARK – Feature, Hallmark, Stamp, Trait
FUNNY PERSON – Card, Clown, Cutup, Joker
THINGS WITH LEAVES – Book, Table, Tea, Tree
Solving today’s NYT Connections wasn’t a laborious task since the puzzle was easier. After being confused between letter and stamp for a minute, I found the connections between the other words and nailed down the Yellow category first. I then moved to think about brands and what all the words in Green have in common with them.
Bigger confusion arose in the Blue category as I had no idea they referred to someone funny as a ‘cutup.’ I will be honest and say that it did require some Googling to solve. I almost faced the same problem with Purple. However, after thinking about Paper in a book and wood in a tree, I made the connection to something related to nature and clubbed the remaining four words together to get the NYT Connections for 13th November.

Apple is set to appeal the European Union’s decision to include the entire App Store in its new digital antitrust list. The company will dispute the EU regulator’s decision to put all of the App Store into the bloc’s new digital antitrust list. It’ll argue also its iMessage service shouldn’t be subject to closer scrutiny from regulators, according to people familiar with the matter. This article will discuss Apple’s plans to appeal the inclusion of the App Store in the EU antitrust list.
Background
The Digital Markets Act (DMA) came into force for most companies in May 2023. It is a tough legislation that targets the market clout of top technology companies and aims to make it easier for people to move between competing services. The EU Commission had recently designated 22 services of major tech firms as “gatekeepers” of online services. It requires them to inter-operate their messaging apps with rivals. They will also let users decide which apps to pre-install on their devices.
Alphabet’s Google Search, Apple’s Safari, Amazon.com’s marketplace, Bytedance’s TikTok, and Meta Platforms’ Facebook are among the services that come under the scope of the DMA. Together with the Digital Services Act, which puts forth rules for user-targeting, data practices, and data sharing with the regulators, the two regulations are expected to drive big changes in the platforms that come under their purview.
Apple’s Appeal
Apple is set to challenge the European Union’s fresh crackdown on Big Tech’s dominance in the first of what is expected to be several appeals against the Digital Markets Act. The company will dispute the EU regulator’s decision to put all of the App Store into the bloc’s new digital antitrust list. It’ll argue also its iMessage service shouldn’t be subject to closer scrutiny from regulators.
Apple’s appeal is still in draft form and could change before the November 16 deadline to file challenges at the EU’s General Court. Even with the potential appeal, Apple will still be required to comply with the rules.
The company will dispute the EU regulator’s decision to put all of the App Store into the bloc’s new digital antitrust list. It’ll argue also its iMessage service shouldn’t be subject to closer scrutiny from regulators. The Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets has ruled that Apple’s commission on certain app subscriptions is an abuse of the company’s market power. The outcome of Apple’s appeal will undoubtedly shape the future of app marketplaces and the relationship between tech giants and regulatory bodies.
Gizchina News of the week
Implication of including the App Store in the EU antitrust list
The implications of including the App Store in the EU antitrust list are huge. Here are some of the possible implications:
1. Higher Competition:
The EU’s Digital Markets Act aims to increase competition. It hopes to make it easier for people to move between competing services. If the App Store is included in the antitrust list, it could lead to increased competition in the app market. This would be of huge benefit to users of the system.
2. Changes to App Store Rules:
Apple has said that it expects to make changes to the App Store as a result of the bloc’s new rules. If the EU’s concerns are addressed, it could lead to changes in the App Store rules. The new rules will benefit app developers and users of the app store.
3. Legal Issues:
The plan to include the App Store in the EU antitrust list is already causing some legal issues. Apple has plans to go to court to stop the process. If Apple succeeds, it would have implications for how the EU regulates the app market in the future.
4. Impact on Apple’s Revenue:
The App Store is a huge source of revenue for Apple. If the EU’s concerns lead to changes in the App Store rules, it could have an impact on Apple’s revenue.
5. Impact on App Developers:
App developers have raised concerns about the App Store rules. This includes the commission that Apple takes on app sales. If the EU’s concerns lead to changes in the App Store rules, it could benefit app developers.
6. Impact on Users:
The App Store is the only way to download apps on Apple devices. If the EU’s concerns lead to changes in the App Store rules, it could benefit users. It will increase rivalry and most likely reduce prices.
If Apple’s appeal pulls through, other big app stores like the Google Play store will follow its route. This means that there will be no change in the current status quo in the app market. However, if Apple fails, we will see some big changes in the market. Users will have the option of choosing their default apps. The relationship between big tech firms and regulatory bodies has always been rusty because the latter always probes the former. Whether Apple succeeds in this appeal or not, this will not change how tech firms relate with regulatory bodies.
The EU’s decision to include the App Store in its antitrust list is very straightforward and needs no explanation. The App Store is one of the largest app stores in the world. The EU wants to cut the powers of large app stores and give users more options. Thus, not including Apple in this list is just like saying one thing and doing another.
Conclusion
Apple is set to challenge the European Union’s decision to include the App Store in its new digital antitrust list. It will dispute the EU’s decision to put all of the App Store into the bloc’s new digital antitrust list. It’ll argue also its iMessage service shouldn’t be subject to closer scrutiny from regulators. The Digital Markets Act is a tough legislation that targets the market clout of top technology companies. It aims to make it easier for people to move between competing services.
The EU Commission had recently designated 22 services of major tech firms as “gatekeepers” of online services. It now requires them to inter-operate their messaging apps with rivals. They will also freely allow users to decide which apps to pre-install on their devices. Some of the services are Alphabet’s Google Search, Apple’s Safari, and Amazon.com’s marketplace. Bytedance’s TikTok and Meta Platforms’ Facebook are also among the services that come under the scope. The new law is expected to drive big changes at the platforms that come under their purview. This is one of the reasons why brands on the list are against it.
The recently debuted Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 made it to the headlines for how much of an improvement it brought to the table. To be exact, the new chipset offers an 18% boost in single-core and 40% improvement in multi-core performance vs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
And even though the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is fabricated on an older manufacturing process, it still beats the Apple A17 Pro in terms of multi-core performance. However, the new chipset from Qualcomm falls short in one important criterion: the battery life.
New Battery Test Shows That Apple A17 Is More Efficient Than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
The battery test (video embedded below) puts a couple of flagship devices against each other. But among all the devices, the two models that are in focus are the Xiaomi 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Both of them equip the best-in-class mobile chipsets. Those are the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A17 Pro, respectively.
Both devices are kept at a 120 Hz refresh rate to make the battery test fair. However, it should be noted that both devices have the dynamic resolution feature, which the users can’t adjust. Another thing to note is that the Xiaomi 14 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a larger battery capacity.
To be exact, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped device has a 4880mAh cell. In comparison, the Apple A17 Pro-equipped smartphone has a 4441mAH cell. But even though the Xiaomi 14 Pro has a larger battery, it loses to the Apple iPhone 15 Pro in the battery test.
As you can see from the video I’ve attached above, the Xiaomi 14 Pro lasted for 10 hours and 24 minutes. On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro lasted for 11 hours and 54 minutes. That means the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped lost to the Apple A17 Pro-equipped smartphone by 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Gizchina News of the week
That made the Xiaomi 14 Pro achieve the second spot on the test. On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro secured the first position.
What Does This Mean?
From the test results, it’s pretty clear that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 isn’t as efficient as the Apple A17 Pro. And it shows that Qualcomm had to make its latest SoC run on higher wattage in order to achieve better overall performance. This high wattage operation might be the reason why it couldn’t beat the Apple A17 Pro in the battery test.
But the difference between the Apple 15 Pro Max and Xiaomi 14 Pro isn’t too significant. And 10 hours and 54 minutes in a test such as this one isn’t bad at all. So, just because it’s in second position, it doesn’t mean that you won’t get a good real-life battery performance out of it.
How Did the Other Smartphones Hold Up?
Among the other smartphones in the test, there’s the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. It features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is a last-gen chipset. But it does have a higher battery capacity, standing at 5000mAh. However, the higher battery capacity didn’t help it much in this case.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra lasted for 10 hours and 5 minutes in the test. This shows that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is much more efficient than its predecessor. While the battery test includes all the current flagships, it doesn’t have any device with Dimensity 9300. It’s the latest chipset from MediaTek.
But the thing is, Dimensity 9300-equipped devices aren’t here yet. But they are expected to make their official debuts soon. And it will be interesting to see how smartphones with the chipset hold up against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A17 Pro.
For over the past decade, Mortal Kombat has prided itself in featuring a bunch of slasher horror icons, but they technically haven’t gotten any animatronics in on the action yet.
One modder decided to change that, however, by bringing Freddy Fazbear over from Five Nights at Freddy’s over to Mortal Kombat 1 to serve up some pain to the cast.
HiBlakkes put together they FNAF mod to replace Cyrax’s Kameo assist in the fighting game on PC, which fits pretty well with that giant saw in his chest — though would have maybe been better on a character that bites people.
Other players have figured out how to make Freddy a playable character too, which is made extra ridiculous by taking him into Story Mode and seeing the mechanical bear fight in cutscenes.
There are some improvements to be made considering Cyrax’s robot dreads and waist cloth still poke out of the model, but hopefully that’ll be updated in the future.
We don’t really expect to see Freddy to make an official appearance in Mortal Kombat any time soon considering how much FNAF is geared towards children and young teens, but it’s odd that we live in a world where that chance is not zero.
We recently took a look at another horror mod that actually does have a decent stab at getting into MK1 with Scream’s Ghostface.
You can find more information about Freddy on the Nexus Mods page, and check out the bear in action thanks to GAMERALISIMUS and Johnny Cage Jr. though be warned for Story Mode spoilers in the first video.
Google TV, the popular platform from the tech giant in Mountain View, is undergoing continuous improvement, thanks to ongoing enhancements introduced by the company. A notable change that has caught the attention of avid users is the redesign of icons on the platform’s home screen, signaling a positive shift in the TV viewing experience.
Google TV Unveils Exciting Visual Changes for a Better User Experience

The alterations are in response to a significant critique aimed at Google TV – the lack of uniformity in the appearance of application icons when they are minimized on the home screen. This inconsistency has been a point of contention among users. As the icons seemed to lose their uniformity when compared to other elements on the screen.
Addressing this concern head-on, Google has announced a solution that aims to bring about a more harmonious look to the home screen. According to reports from 9to5Google, the tech giant plans to implement a new circular format for the icons of the most frequently used apps. This strategic move is to create a more cohesive and standard appearance across the platform.
Gizchina News of the week
This overhaul is not limited to application icons alone. It extends to other elements on the home screen, including platform controls. The circular format will apply universally, ensuring a consistent size for various components within the Google TV interface.

Initial indications of this transformative change surfaced on Medium earlier in the week. And Google has now officially confirmed the redesign. The circular format will not only be for application icons. But will also extend to all control elements present on the home screen. Promising a balanced and proportional visual appeal.
As this visual transformation unfolds, the circular design is gradually making its presence felt on Google’s multimedia content management platform. However, users in Portugal are still awaiting an official date for the rollout of these exciting updates.
So, Google’s commitment to refining the user experience is evident through these design enhancements. By addressing visual imbalances on the home screen, the tech giant demonstrates its dedication to providing a seamless and visually pleasing interface for Google TV users worldwide.
MacBook Pro enthusiasts have been anticipating the incorporation of OLED panels into their preferred laptops. Reports abound that Apple shares this desire, but the realization of this aspiration might still be a few years away.
The new insider reports suggest that the integration of OLED panels into MacBook Pros is slated for 2026, according to insights from analyst Jeff Pu. Aligning with earlier reports by Ross Young, Pu dismisses the likelihood of Apple adopting OLED technology for its MacBook Pros before the aforementioned year.
OLED Panels on the Horizon: A Major Step for MacBook Pros
Regrettably, users will have to bide their time until 2026, contenting themselves with the current mini-LED panels adorning the latest 14-inch and 16-inch models. Any updates before this monumental shift are expected to be incremental in nature.
The prospect of a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display will be the next big thing. This highly anticipated shift, when it finally materializes, will represent the next significant leap for Apple’s line of notebooks.
Jeff Pu’s forward-looking perspective extends beyond MacBook Pros. Anticipating that Apple will eventually extend this cutting-edge display technology to the MacBook Air. However, this transition won’t precede the implementation of OLED panels in its Pro counterparts.
In practical terms, this implies that the MacBook Air lineup won’t showcase OLED displays until 2027. Apple seems committed to first offering this technology to its discerning “Pro” user base. Before filtering it down to other product lines.
Currently, the MacBook Air relies on LCD panels, which, while more economical to manufacture, fall short in comparison to the vibrancy and quality of OLED displays. A shift to OLED screens promises a host of benefits. Including a superior contrast ratio, more accurate color reproduction, and deeper blacks.
Gizchina News of the week
One of the most significant advantages will be the enhanced energy efficiency inherent in OLED screens. By illuminating only the necessary pixels in each scenario, these screens have the potential to significantly extend the battery life of Apple laptops.
In essence, the anticipated arrival of OLED technology in Apple laptops is still a few years away. When it eventually graces these devices, it is poised to be a nice development. Likely enticing many users to upgrade to the latest models. The future of MacBook displays looks promising, albeit with a touch of patience required.
Why the Delay in OLED Adoption?
The delay in adopting OLED technology is attributed to several factors, including supply chain constraints and the cost of manufacturing OLED panels. However, the potential benefits of OLED are undeniable, making the wait worthwhile.
Benefits of OLED Displays
OLED displays offer a significant improvement over current LCD panels in terms of contrast ratio, color accuracy, and black levels. Additionally, OLED’s ability to illuminate only the pixels that are needed results in improved energy efficiency, leading to longer battery life.
A Tale of Two Display Technologies: OLED vs. Mini-LED vs. LCD
To fully understand the advantages of OLED, it’s essential to compare it to the existing display technologies used in MacBook laptops: mini-LED and LCD.
Mini-LED: Mini-LED displays offer a significant improvement over traditional LCD panels in terms of contrast ratio and black levels. However, they still fall short of OLED in terms of color accuracy and energy efficiency.
LCD: LCD panels are the most common type of display technology used in laptops. While they are relatively affordable, they have limitations in terms of contrast ratio, black levels, and color accuracy.
OLED: The Crown Jewel of Display Technologies
OLED displays offer the best overall performance of the three technologies, with superior contrast ratio, color accuracy, black levels, and energy efficiency. This is because OLED panels can illuminate individual pixels, providing precise control over light and color reproduction.
Considerations for Apple’s OLED Adoption
Apple’s decision to prioritize OLED panels for its Pro lineup is understandable, as these models are for professional users who demand the best possible display quality. However, the benefits of OLED extend beyond professional use, making it a desirable upgrade for the MacBook Air as well.
The Future of OLED in MacBook Laptops
While LCD panels remain the standard for MacBook Air laptops, their limitations are becoming increasingly apparent. The transition to OLED would provide a significant boost in display performance, making the MacBook Air an even more compelling choice for everyday users.
Although smartwatches have evolved a lot in the past few years, they are not for everyone. Many find it unnecessary to have another distracting screen. On the other hand, many people find it hard to get a smartwatch that fits naturally on their hands. Well, that’s basically where the best smart rings come in.
At the core, the best smart ring offers a small fitness tracker that anyone can wear. This screen-free health and wellness tracker utilizes sensors to provide data you can get from most smartwatches. And more importantly, fitness rings are perfect for someone looking for a fitness-tracking device that’s both fashion-forward and discreet.
In addition, some of the best fitness rings also come with non-health-related features. For example, you can find smart rings with NFC, allowing you to make contactless payments just like smartwatches.
But, not all the available options out there are a good pick as the best smart rings. Some are just too unreliable when it comes to tracking fitness and health data. So, which models should you actually consider to get your money’s worth? Well, that’s where the list below comes into play.
Oura Ring Gen3 – Best Overall Smart Ring
The Oura Ring Gen3 (or Oura Ring 3) is one of the easiest smart rings to recommend. If you’re wondering why, it is because of how great it is and what it does. When it comes to specifics, compared to the previous generations, the Gen3 Oura smart ring brings many more features.
That includes better health-tracking functions. With this smart ring, you can accurately track your heart rate and monitor your SpO2 levels. The Oura Ring 3 also makes achieving your health and fitness goals easier by offering activity-tracking features.
Other than that, the smart ring integrates seamlessly with major fitness and health tracking software. That includes Apple Health and Google Fit. Thanks to this, you can easily get detailed insight into your health. But the Oura Ring Gen3 isn’t perfect. It requires you to pay for a monthly subscription to get access to some of its impressive features.
Main Highlights of Oura Ring Gen3
Lightweight and offers a natural fit
Can deliver up to 7 days of battery life
Has a quick charging feature
Features accurate health-tracking functions
Integrates seamlessly with major health and fitness apps
Ultrahuman Ring Air – Best Lightweight Smart Ring
Looking for the best smart rings that prioritize comfort and flexibility more than the other factors? You would want to consider the Ultrahuman Ring Air. As the name suggests, the fitness ring is exceptionally light in weight. This will eventually result in a better wearing experience.
Gizchina News of the week
But it’s not just the lightweight nature of the smart ring that makes it a good pick. The build quality of the Ring Air is top-notch. It features up to 330 feet of water-resistance rating. And even though the fitness ring is light, it packs a reliable battery. It can offer up to six days of battery life.
Moreover, the smart ring comes with all the health and fitness tracking features that you would generally find in others. But, again, this fitness ring isn’t perfect. It doesn’t offer much room for customization. Also, there are a limited number of color options available for the ring.
Main Highlights of Ultrahuman Ring Air
Delivers six days of battery life
Water resistant to up to 330 feet
Lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear
Can track temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep
Arcx – Best Affordable Smart Ring
Considering the fact that smart rings are still at an early age, it’s quite hard to find something that’s budget-friendly. But the Arcx is a good pick in this regard. While it may not exactly fall in the cheap category, it’s more affordable than other options in the market.
But it isn’t actually a fitness ring. It doesn’t have sensors to track your heart rate, SpO2, and other biometrics. Instead, it just has smart features. For example, with the Arcx ring, you can easily interact with your phone. It allows you to quickly control the music playback, accept and reject calls, and other things.
Yes, you can argue that a pair of wireless earbuds will let you do the same things. But this smart ring lets you interact with your phone when you’re not wearing earbuds. Also, it comes with a sleek and comfort-focused design.
Main Highlights of Arcx
Works with gloves on
Can be attached to sports equipment
Has a sleek design
Comes with multiple silicon attachments to offer the best fit
Circular Ring – Best Simplified Smart Ring
While smart rings are supposed to be easy to use, a lot of brands have made their offerings a bit confusing. But if you’re looking to get the most simplified smart ring experience, the Circular Ring is the best pick for you.
Like the other best smart rings on the market, the Circular Ring can track your activities, heart rate, and other biometrics. However, unlike the other fitness rings, Circular Ring comes with a simplified app. It is easy to navigate and connect with.
Although the functionalities of the smart ring are easy to use, the Circular Ring has a sleek outlook. It also features an ergonomic design, which allows you to enjoy all-day comfort. However, the unit doesn’t offer many customization features when it comes to tracking fitness and health.
Since even before launch, Drive Rush has basically been the most discussed mechanic in Street Fighter 6, but there’s still aspects we’re still learning and putting together for it.
Japanese glitch enthusiast and tech explorer Crystal_cube99 recently performed a deeper dive into Drive Rush to see what happens when two characters perform the action at the exact same time.
Using Ryu as a test subject, they were able to produce some interesting results that appear to be unique to Drive Rush.
When performed on the same frame, the game seems to give one player the screen freeze effect first at random followed almost immediately by the second.
If they perform the same move, however, the character who had the second screen freeze will win every exchange.
When both players perform screen freeze action at the same time, it’s normal to randomize which player get the screen freeze first (probably just switching who to process first every frame)
The problem here is Drive Rush getting one extra frame because of screen freeze https://t.co/zwF8XnTv1O
This is apparently due to the game adding one additional frame to the startup during the screen freeze for the first character who begins the animation.
As pointed out by HiFight, SF6 randomly choosing a fighter to apply the animation to first is completely normal, but the results may well be a glitch.
That’s because when other similar actions like Drive Impact and Super Arts are performed on the same frame in SF6, they end up clashing even though one starts the move visually before the other.
This extra frame could be due to that second screen freeze, but it is weird to put the winner of this scenario up as a random selection of who goes second.
Yes, it should have been traded.
Just explaining that who gets screen freeze first being randomized is totally normal. There is nothing wrong with that.
Drive Rush getting one extra frame of screen freeze when the opponent does Drive Rush at the same frame is definitely a bug.
An interaction like this isn’t going to come up like this super often with characters having differing frame data on their Drive Rushes and attacks out of them in general — though if you can see it happening, it certainly seems like it’d be best to hit your fastest button possible.
There was another bug detailed recently that breaks the intended game mechanics even more, however, with the discovery of the infinite Drive Gauge glitch, which can be performed by mulitple members of the cast.
Hopefully, these all get sorted out in the near future in upcoming updates now that they’ve been likely brought to the attention of the developers.
