  • Oppo Find X7 With Dimensity 9300 Achieves Impressive Score on AnTuTu Benchmark

MediaTek recently announced the Dimensity 9300 just a few days ago. Positioned as the competitor of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it brings a lot of improvements over its predecessor. And the upcoming Oppo Find X7 will be among the first devices that will debut packing this chipset.

Now, while devices featuring the Dimensity 9300 haven’t landed yet, AnTuTu has officially revealed the benchmark scores of the Oppo Find X7. The device boasting the flagship MediaTek chipset has achieved 2,270,677 on the benchmarking tool. For context, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 got 2,139,281 on the same tool.

Oppo Find X7 AnTuTu Score Breakdown

On AnTuTu, the Oppo Find X7 with Dimensity 9300 got an overall score of 2,270,677. When it comes to specifics, the device got 521,690 on the CPU test, while it achieved 911,683 on the GPU test. Moreover, it scored 471,340 on the memory test and 365,964 on the UX test.

    Oppo Find X7 Antutu

With this, the Dimensity 9300 becomes the current champion in the AnTuTu benchmarking tool. And as the scores suggest, the MediaTek chipset is a better performer than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This should lead to the Oppo Find X7 offering a little bit improved raw performance than 8 Gen 3 devices.

    MediaTek Dimensity 9300

As for how the Dimensity 9300 got better scores than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, I believe it’s likely for the CPU configuration. As I’ve previously covered, the Dimensity 9300 has four Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it has no low-power efficiency cores.

    Gizchina News of the week

This can naturally raise questions regarding whether the battery life of Oppo Find X7 and other devices is powered by the chipset. But as MediaTek explained, the A720 cores inside the Dimensity 9300 are more efficient than the low-power Cortex-A520 cores. It will be interesting to see how the device fair up in a battery test.

Key Specs of the Device Revealed By AnTuTu

Aside from offering insight into the Oppo Find X7’s performance, AnTuTu has revealed some key specs of the device. The unit will have a display supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate. It pairs the flagship Dimensity chipset with 16 GB of LPDDR5T RAM, which is likely why it got such impressive scores on the memory test.

Besides that, the Oppo Find X7 that got tested comes with 1 TB of storage. As it’s UFS 4.0, you can expect super fast transfer speeds. And as for the camera, Oppo recently unveiled that the device will feature the all-new HyperTone camera optimizations. This means it will deliver a better overall performance than its predecessor.

    Oppo HyperTone

On that note, the Pro model of the device will likely come with the new 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor. Other highlights of the Oppo Find X7 include satellite connectivity, which will offer better communication features in challenging conditions.

When it comes to software, the Find X7 runs on Android 14, which will likely feature the recently revealed ColorOS 14 on top.

Aside from the Oppo Find X7, Oppo is also gearing up to debut the Pad Air 2, Reno 11, and Reno 11 Pro. They are all set to land on November 23. Among these, the Oppo Reno 11 will feature the Dimensity 8200 chipset, while the Pro model will pack the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. And Oppo Pad Air 2 will be a rebranded OnePlus Pad Go. We will keep you posted when more information about these devices lands.

With the power of an AI algorithm, Oppo ColorOS 14 can effectively manage the charging on devices. It can adjust the charging current by considering whether the device is being used and how it is being used. This will eventually reduce the battery wear and tear, elongating its lifespan.

Picture Keeper and Smart Image Matting

Oppo ColorOS 14 brings privacy features for photos stored in the devices. Privacy keeper offers extra permission for accessing select videos and photos on the device. On the note of photos, the new OS also brings Smart Image Matting, which can crop out multiple animals and people out of a photo.

  • Microsoft Rebrands Bing to Copilot; Competes with ChatGPT

Bing Chat renamed by Microsfot to Copilot AI instead

Nowadays, companies are significantly pushing innovation in artificial intelligence forward at the fastest possible pace. Microsoft, in the same vein, introduced its Bing Chat as a chatbot cum search engine. However, it looks like the company is now reframing its model and actually rebranding Bing Chat to Copilot instead.

At the Microsoft Ignite 2023 event, the company announced that Copilot will be replacing Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise. In its official blog post, Microsoft consistently refers to its AI services as ‘Copilot’ now and also states it was formerly Bing Chat.

From today onwards, users can simply visit the Copilot AI website and start using the tool. While it is still in a ‘preview’ stage, Microsoft has now confirmed that its Copilot AI will be out of preview and become generally available starting December 1. Additionally, Bing is also being rebranded to Copilot on Windows 11 after updating to 23H2.

    MS Copilot AI

With this new change, all the AI requirements of today’s computing crowd will be fulfilled by Copilot. It is natural that Microsoft aims to compete with ChatGPT and its other alternatives even though the companies have a working relationship together. To access Copilot, business users will need an Entra ID, while consumers will need to sign into their MS account. The rebranding has already begun, as users can access the new website now.

Bing Chat did have its own useful features. You could ask it to research, find web solutions, assist in shopping, and more. But despite the integration of AI into Bing, it did not seem to boost the search engine’s market share, which is still stagnating under ~7%, according to StatCounter. By the way, Microsoft has confirmed that it will expand Copilot with commercial data protection to Microsoft 365 later. This includes various enterprise plans such as Microsoft 365 E3, E5, F3, A3, and A5.

    microsoft bing logo
Bing Chat is going away but will remain to be Microsoft’s search engine

In addition to this, Microsoft has announced that Copilot AI will support OpenAI GPTs. Currently, Copilot is based on GPT-4 & DALL-E 3, bringing a unified experience of both models into one AI assistant. Microsoft wants to make things even better by allowing its users to create tailored versions of Copilot. With this, people can make their own Copilot for specific tasks! The Bing brand is alive and well, and while it will have some AI features, all of it will be powered under the ‘Copilot’ branding.

AI is moving forward at a rapidly evolving pace. So far, Microsoft says over 1 billion prompts have been registered since the launch of Bing AI chat. Was Microsoft’s move to rename Bing Chat to Copilot a good thing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Inside Google’s $8 Billion Deal with Samsung: Securing Dominance in the Android Realm

    Image Credi: Nikkei

A staggering $8 billion payment from Google to Samsung over four years was unveiled by Bloomberg, marking a pivotal aspect of Google’s strategy. This hefty sum aimed to secure Google’s services as the default option on Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones. Consequently, Google Search, Google Assistant, and Play Store took precedence over Samsung’s native options such as the Bixby voice assistant and Galaxy Store.

    Gizchina News of the week

This lucrative deal not only guaranteed Google’s dominance in the Android universe but also deterred the integration of third-party services. James Kolotouros, Google’s vice president of partnerships, emphasized the importance of this alliance during his testimony in the antitrust case. Notably, Kolotouros emphasized Samsung’s crucial role, revealing that Samsung’s contribution accounted for over half of Google’s Play Store revenue.

So, the strategic collaboration with Samsung unfolded within the framework of the Banyan project, a multifaceted initiative by Google. Beyond the hefty payment to Samsung, the Banyan project encompassed various measures aimed at consolidating Google’s position in the Android ecosystem.

Also, part of this strategy involved revenue sharing from advertising, demonstrating Google’s commitment to ensuring its services remained a priority. Additionally, Google offered incentives to smartphone brands to prioritize its services on their devices’ home screens.

In 2020, Google earmarked $2.9 billion for these efforts, with plans to escalate the investment to $4.5 billion by 2023. Underscoring the magnitude of Google’s commitment to maintaining its stronghold in the Android landscape. This intricate web of strategies and partnerships exposes the depth of Google’s maneuvers. As it navigates the complex terrain of the smartphone industry.
