Emu powers both the new AI-powered image editing tools. And for those unaware, Emu is the artificial intelligence software that’s from Meta. It brings flexible editing through detailed instructions. Here’s a brief overview of both the tools:

Emu Edit

The first AI image editing tool that Meta released goes by “Emu Edit.” This tool allows alternating images with simple text inputs. And this may sound familiar to those already familiar with Photoshop’s Generative Fill. But there’s one thing that makes this AI-powered image editor stand out.

Photoshop’s Generative fill requires the user to select the element to remove or fill. Emu Edit doesn’t need any selection. Instead, users can describe what they want removed or added to the image, and this AI image editing tool will do it.

For example, users can ask Emu Edit to “remove the person” from an image, and the AI image editing tool will understand the request. Meta says, “Emu Edit is capable of free-form editing through instructions.”

Moreover, Meta explained that this AI image editing tool can do a lot. It can remove and add “a background, color, and geometry transformations, detection and segmentation, and more.”

Meta trained the image editing tool on “10 million synthesized samples.” Each of the samples included “an input image. Also, they had “a description of the task and the targeted output image.” For this reason, Meta believes that the trained dataset is the largest of its kind.

Also, Meta said, “Current methods often lean towards either over-modifying or under-performing on various editing tasks.” For this, Meta aimed to make the model focus on “altering only the pixels relevant to the edit request.” So, this AI image editing tool isn’t only about offering “believable” images.

Emu Video

The second AI editing solution from Meta is “Emu Video.” This AI-powered tool leverages the same base Emu model. But it focuses more on generative video from text prompts. It can also transform still images into videos.

Now, this isn’t the first AI-powered video editing tool from Meta. The company has released Make-A-Video before. But Emu Video is more capable. It brings a big improvement over the previous offering.

As Meta explains, the new AI editor is easy to execute and utilizes two diffusion models. It can generate 512×512 4-second-long videos. And the generated videos have 16 FPS. Meta did a human evaluation of the results. 96% of the respondents preferred the new model based on quality.

Also, 85% of the respondents preferred the new model based on “faithfulness to the text prompt.”

When Will Meta Release the Two AI Image Editing Tools?

Meta hasn’t confirmed when the two new AI image editing tools will debut. But Meta says that tools are a part of “fundamental research.” And “potential use cases are clearly evident.” So, we can expect to see a refined solution getting implemented on Facebook and Instagram soon.

Meizu is getting ready to release its next-gen flagship, the Meizu 21. As a direct successor to Meizu 20, it’s gearing up to bring performance-focused specs with an eye-catching design.

As you can see from the picture attached below, the Meizu 21 is set to come with ultra-thin bezels. Now, while most of the current flagship smartphones do feature thin bezels, most of them come in black. And that’s pretty much where Meizu has worked on.

Instead of black, the Meizu 21 features a white bezel, which makes it look sleek and offers an immersion of bezel-free display from the front. As for the thickness of the bezels, Meizu has confirmed that they will be 1.74 mm on all four sides. This uniform nature of the bezels, combined with thinness, will deliver an immersive viewing experience.

Moreover, the display of the Meizu 21 will be a 6.55-inch Samsung AMOLED panel. It will boast an FHD+ resolution and have support for a 120 Hz refresh rate. Also, the live image attached above has pretty much confirmed that the phone will have a flat panel.

However, in a recent update, the popular battle royale has put itself in a tough situation. This update, described as “ISLAND AGE RATINGS” by Fortnite, makes certain islands (game modes) and skins restricted for certain audiences.

In an official X post, Fortnite confirmed that around 7% of the skins have been affected by the age restriction. They can only be equipped in islands rated Teen. Although Fortnite claims these cosmetics are limited to certain maps and game modes for now, it aims to make changes to them, such that the skins are auto-adjusted in appearance based on the island in the future. This can lead to the cosmetics being changed depending on the age of the player.

In this update, Fortnite has included an ESRB rating tag to every island. This restricts the criteria for players to not participate in certain games. This also reflects on the skins as the skins also show an error notification of unavailable in certain islands as there will be a younger audience. Now, while the study may sound simple, the team did get into the details. For example, the study ranked the smartphone brands by the median battery charge capacity. Also, for each of the brands, the team calculated what chunk of models reside within specific brackets of mAh ratings.

Which iPhone has the Best Battery Life?

Looking back, the first iPhone came with a 1400 mAh battery. That allowed Steve Jobs to boast about the phone’s capability to deliver five hours of battery life. But now, iPhones with much bigger batteries have hit the market. Among the recently released phones, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the best battery capacity.

As the study revealed, it sits at number 1 spot in the iPhone chart. And this eventually results in the phone bearing the best battery life title among iPhones. For context, the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a 4422 mAh battery, which can offer up to 14 hours of run time after a full charge.

On the other hand, the iPhone SE 2 has the worst battery life among all the iPhones released recently. It features an 1821 mAh battery, which is not that far from the original iPhone released 13 years ago.
