  • Snapdragon Seamless to Bring Android a Step Coser to Windows

During the Snapdragon Summit in late October, Qualcomm introduced a new method enabling automatic connectivity across devices. These devices include phones, PCs, tablets, headphones, and accessories, resembling Apple’s seamless interaction. Device manufacturers can achieve this by integrating Qualcomm’s system into their products. This will streamline connectivity within a broader ecosystem.

Turning this vision into reality involves integrating software protocols on devices. The process is straightforward, and due to minimal hardware requirements, it’s feasible for both new and older products. The success of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Seamless depends on whether device manufacturers embrace its integration. It also depends on how well it functions, leaving its potential impact to be witnessed.

The concept highlights the attractiveness of Apple’s seamless interoperability among its proprietary devices. Whether it’s AirPods connecting instantly to iPhones or the fluid use of iMessage. Or file sharing across Apple devices, this synergy has retained user loyalty. Qualcomm’s aspiration to replicate this harmony across various brands could potentially usher in a new era of interconnected personal devices. It will offer users a broader ecosystem akin to Apple’s.

In a statement, the senior director of product management in charge of seamless at Qualcomm, Kabir Kasargod said:

“The goal for us is across-the-board interoperability to defragment across all of these different platforms. Across manufacturers, across different operating systems.”

During the Summit, Qualcomm emphasized PC and mobile chips featuring on-device AI. However, the Seamless integration was a recurring theme in almost every presentation. Attendees were given the opportunity to experience the product firsthand through a demonstration. After witnessing the presentation, further exploration was necessary to understand the potential benefits of Qualcomm’s Seamless technology.

    Snapdragon Seamless Workflow Snapdragon Seamless

In a demo room featuring various Snapdragon-powered devices, Qualcomm arranged a photo booth to illustrate the Seamless workflow. Using an Honor phone, there was a photo session reminiscent of a yearbook shoot. Following the shoot, an attendant on a laptop seamlessly transferred the photos from the phone using a separate keyboard and mouse. This initiated photo editing. It showcased the interconnected capability of four devices through the Seamless integration.

The initial demonstration showed promise. Notably, devices don’t necessarily require Qualcomm’s chips to function with the Seamless system. However, if they do use Qualcomm’s chips, they can benefit from enhanced capabilities. The sensor-packed Sensing Hub within Snapdragon chips enables richer experiences. This includes communication even when devices are locked with screens off or in sleep mode.

Snapdragon Seamless will Provide Easy Continuity Between Devices

Snapdragon Seamless offers more than just file transfer; it introduces the concept of continuity between multiple devices. Imagine writing a document or playing a game and seamlessly continuing your progress on another device nearby. This interconnected experience opens up new possibilities for fluid and uninterrupted workflows across different devices.

While continuity over the cloud exists with services like Google Drive, Qualcomm envisions Seamless providing a more seamless experience by quietly managing continuity in the background between adjacent devices. Currently, Seamless utilizes multiple connectivity layers, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ultrawideband, and even cellular signals, enabling devices to maintain contact with each other. This multifaceted approach aims to enhance the efficiency of device interactions beyond what traditional cloud-based services offer.

Practicality of Snapdragon Seamless Snapdragon Seamless

The responsiveness and immediacy of Seamless could enable remote activation of the camera on another device. Similar to Apple’s ecosystem where an Apple Watch can trigger the shutter on a paired iPhone, envision the appeal of achieving the same with Android and Windows devices. During the photo shoot demo, the attendant clicked the shutter button on the Honor phone using a nearby laptop, showcasing the potential of Seamless for diverse device interactions.

In another Seamless demo at the Summit, the technology showcased the ability for earbuds to seamlessly transition audio based on the device in use, akin to Apple’s AirPods shifting between iPads, iPhones, and Macs. Furthermore, if a call comes in, the audio intelligently switches to it in what is described as “an intelligent handshake” where contextual information guides the user’s attention, leading the earbuds to follow suit.

Qualcomm isn’t alone in seeking to emulate Apple’s ecosystem interoperability. Google, during CES 2022, expressed its efforts to enhance Android’s compatibility with devices running Wear OS, Chrome OS, Windows, and Matter smart home software. Additionally, Intel introduced its Unison software in September 2022, enabling message exchange and notifications between Android and iOS phones. The tech industry is evidently exploring ways to create seamless connectivity across diverse devices and platforms.

Snapdragon Seamless will Make it Easier for Windows and Android devices Work Together Snapdragon Seamless

Snapdragon Seamless facilitates interoperability between Windows and Android devices through a software library, and Qualcomm is in the process of developing one for Linux. For simpler interactions, Seamless can be incorporated via Windows or Android apps. However, for more intricate interactions, installing the Seamless software library at the operating system layer is required, emphasizing its versatility across different levels of device integration.

Implementing Snapdragon Seamless requires device makers to make decisions regarding the information shared between devices. While certain information is automatically discoverable during connective interactions, any private data necessitates encryption or authentication for access, emphasizing the importance of security and privacy considerations in the implementation of this technology.

The functionality of Seamless is constrained by a device’s hardware, particularly its connectivity options. For instance, if manufacturers aim to use Seamless for unlocking car doors, the device must incorporate ultrawideband functionality. Use cases demanding continuous connections without excessive battery drain necessitate devices to support Bluetooth low energy. These hardware considerations underscore the importance of tailoring devices to specific use cases when implementing the Seamless protocol.

How Device can Use Snapdragon Seamless

The potential for how devices communicate with each other is vast. In a Q&A session at the Snapdragon Summit, Dino Bekis, the Vice President and General Manager of Wearables and Mixed Signal Solutions at Qualcomm, provided an example of how devices could utilize Seamless to share information about the quality of connectivity in their respective locations. This highlights the versatility and adaptability of Seamless in facilitating various forms of data exchange between devices.

Bekis went further to explain this new technology by using real life example. In his explanation, he said:

“Maybe here [where I’m standing] I don’t sense [signal] congestion off my earbuds and my laptop on the other side of the room is saying hey, there’s a lot of congestion over here.  Maybe the earbuds would prioritize stronger connectivity if the user walked into a more congested area. The real question for manufacturers is, “now that I have all this extra information, how do I want to use it to deliver a better end-user experience?”

How Snapdragon Seamless can Work with XR

Seamless opens up possibilities in extended reality (XR). A demo at the Summit showcased a potential scenario: wearing a smartwatch and XR headset while exercising, with a phone recording the workout. Through Seamless, these devices could seamlessly communicate and stream data-rich workout information in real-time to a trainer. This illustrates how Seamless can enhance collaborative experiences across multiple devices in XR scenarios.

In a technical deep-dive, another scenario emerged: a person playing a game on their phone while wearing an XR headset. Through Seamless communication, the headset automatically displayed a topographical map of the phone game, providing location and enemy information without any manual input from the player. This exemplifies the potential for immersive and context-aware experiences facilitated by Seamless across different devices.

Most Modern CPUs Have AI Tied In Snapdragon Seamless

At the Snapdragon Summit, much of the focus on artificial intelligence centered on integrating generative AI at the hardware level. Notably, the Snapdragon X Elite for PC laptops and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for phones feature on-device generative AI capabilities. These devices can independently execute queries and employ AI techniques, such as expanding photos without relying on the cloud, showcasing the advancements in on-device AI processing.

Seamless presents an opportunity to integrate AI capabilities across multiple devices, as highlighted by Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute and Gaming at Qualcomm. The widespread adoption of on-device AI across phones, PCs, and other platforms will lead to an expansion of diverse and practical use cases, showcasing the potential for collaborative and intelligent interactions in various contexts.

“The more pervasive [Seamless] becomes, the better it is across the board to be able to use AI and seamlessly leverage the NPU and AI engine capabilities across multiple devices,” Kondap explained.

    The Journey in Implementing Seamless

Qualcomm’s pitch for Snapdragon Seamless on stage resonated with an obvious appeal. Addressing a significant challenge in connectivity between Android and Windows devices, the project aims to emulate the seamless integration achieved within Apple’s ecosystem. Anshel Sag, Principal Analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy, notes the aspirational nature of Seamless in bridging this connectivity gap.

“People deserve a more coherent cross-device experience, and Seamless is without a doubt the first step in making that possible,” remarked Anshel Sag, Principal Analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy. However, he acknowledged that Qualcomm has work ahead, stating, “Qualcomm has made some strides, but there’s still a long way to go and lots of OEMs who need convincing.” The journey towards achieving a seamless cross-device experience is recognized as a significant step forward, but there are challenges ahead in garnering support from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Qualcomm is aware of the effort required to bring manufacturers on board, recognizing the natural inclination for companies to focus on their own products rather than considering devices as part of a broader ecosystem beyond brands. The challenge lies in encouraging a mindset that fosters collaboration and interoperability among devices from different manufacturers.

From an end-user perspective, Kasargod emphasizes the potential for devices from different manufacturers within a household to communicate and create novel experiences. The overarching goal for Qualcomm is to empower partners, enabling them to standardize and unify their ecosystems in a way that promotes seamless connectivity and collaboration among diverse devices.

  • Shang Tsung paired with Tremor can technically perform a touch of death sequence against Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat 1

Tremor is the new Kameo that’s usable in Mortal Kombat 1. As such, the community has been exploring the capabilities of Kameo Tremor to see where he’ll end up in the current meta.

One unique thing about Tremor is that there’s a way to turn any of his assists into an ambush assist, though this will require an entire Kameo gauge to pull off. Considering that Tremor is capable of using lows and overheads, the community has already discovered some particularly nasty setups.

Jaycob Harvath on Twitter has showcased an interesting clip of Shang Tsung technically performing a touch of death sequence against Kung Lao. I say it’s technically a touch of death since the reset can be blocked, but this is extremely difficult to do for a human.

By himself, Shang Tsung is able to perform a combo that deals around 370 damage. At the cost of two bars of meter, this combo ends with Shang Tsung transforming into Kung Lao.

Following this, Tremor is called in as an ambush assist to perform Aftershock Tremor’s Ground Pound, a low attack. This is used in conjunction with a transformed Shang Tsung using Kung Lao’s overhead.

Though this entire sequence costs three bars of meter, the entire Kameo Gauge, and a Fatal Blow, it’s enough to deplete 1,050 life from Kung Lao (that’s paired with Sareena). Check it all out below:

  • Epic Games Finally Responds to Fortnite’s Skin Restrictions

    Fortnite Skin update

When Epic Games dropped the hotly-anticipated OG update, it sent players into a frenzy of positive reception and massive interest. However, the game soon had one of the roughest moments a couple of weeks back when it disabled numerous in-game skins. This has justifiably divided the entire fanbase. However, after a couple of days of leaving players in limbo, Epic Games has finally shared some news regarding the controversial update.

Epic Games Responds to Fortnite’s Skin Restrictions

The news arrived through the official Fortnite X account (formerly Twitter). In it, the tweet confirmed that the cosmetic gating will get turned off for most skins. This is a temporary respite until they find a permanent solution to the issue, and it will arrive with the upcoming v28.00 update. This update will arrive on December 3, 2023.

The announcement on the official website provided further clarification on the status. Though, very minute. Epic Games claims they were conservative in reviewing cosmetics and the impact on the game’s rating. As such, they have started evaluating every cosmetic once again. After the December 3 update, a small number of existing skins will remain playable in Fortnite on T-rated islands. This includes less than ten outfits.

As per the same announcement, the company has been deep in the comments over the past couple of days. For the uninitiated, the “Islands Age Ratings” update of Fortnite restricted over 360+ skins in-game. This happened because the game introduced an ESRB rating for the island and every skin. The result is restricted access to items and islands based on the age-ratings. So, if the island or the skin has an age rating of T or M, you won’t get to access the items if you don’t fit that age limit.

The new update will unlock most skins in Fortnite

This prompted the fanbase to voice their opinion, which was clearly against Epic Games’ decisions. Some even started a petition on Change.org, which currently sits at only 5,500 signatures. While I am sure this petition didn’t influence the change in decision by Epic Games, the social media posts and this petition show how much people disliked it. It also points out that Epic Games was hasty in making the changes and should’ve closely evaluated the problem before jumping the gun.

For now, we have to wait for the December 3 update to check the changes in the skin restrictions in-game. Hopefully, Epic Games will find a solution to the problem, like a parental toggle. And hopefully, they have some of them. After all, they laid off around 800 workers recently.

So, what are your thoughts about these changes? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Spotify reaches special deal with Google to waive Play Store commission

Spotify has reportedly reached a special deal with Google that allows it to waive Play Store fees. This move comes after Spotify dropped support for Apple’s App Store billing in mid-2023 to avoid a potential 30% commission. In addition to the commission waiver, Spotify agreed to pay Google only four per cent commission for users who signed up for their service through Google. This is far less than most other apps which typically pay 15 per cent for subscriptions through the Google Play Store.

    Play Store Bottom Bar

According to testimony in the Epic v. Google case, Spotify and Google reached a unique agreement on Android in-app purchase sharing. Don Harrison, Google’s head of global partnerships, revealed that when Spotify users subscribe through its own payment system, Spotify does not need to pay commission. However, if users choose Google as the payment platform, they need to pay a 4% commission.

    Background

Google’s Play Store is the primary app store for Android devices, and app publishers must pay Google up to 15% of purchases made through the store. However, some companies have been dissatisfied with these fees and have sought to avoid them. Earlier this month, The Verge reported that Google offered Netflix an exclusive deal to offer a minimum commission of 10%. However, Netflix rejected the offer and refused to give users a way to sign up for Netflix directly within the app.

Google Play Store is a digital distribution service operated and developed by Google that allows users to browse and download applications, music, books, and movies. Developers who sell paid apps or in-app access to digital content or services are subject to a service fee based on a percentage of the purchase price or digital purchases in their app. The service fee is how Google supports its ongoing investments in Android and Google Play. It also reflects the value provided by Android and Google Play and is how they earn money as a business. This is a common business model for app and games stores run by Microsoft, Apple, Steam, Nintendo, Amazon, and others.

However, the Play Store has been facing commission issues as developers have been complaining about the high commission rates charged by the platform. Google Play Store charges a 30% commission on all in-app purchases, which has been a point of contention for many developers. In response to this, Google has introduced a new policy that reduces the commission rate to 15% for the first $1 million in revenue earned by developers each year.

    Spotify’s deal with Google

The trial case between Epic and Google revealed the special deal that Spotify had with Google. The deal will allow Spotify to pay no commission to Google when people sign up for subscriptions using Spotify’payment system on Android. As part of the same deal, Spotify paid Google just a 4% commission if users signed up for the service through Google. The deal reportedly came about after Spotify initially supported Epic Games in its fight against Google and Apple. However, in 2022, the company started using a Google program called User Choice Billing that lets Android apps use their own payment systems in exchange for a lower commission.

    Gizchina News of the week

    Spotify Price

Google is reluctant to disclose this data in this antitrust battle. It believes that it could harm negotiations with other app developers who want preferential treatment.

Don Harrison said: “Listening to music is one of the core needs of [mobile phones]… If we can’t make Spotify work properly in Play Services, users will not buy Android phones.”

It is said that as part of the deal, both parties also promised to each invest $50 million in the “Success Fund”

Google spokesman Dan Jackson said, “The small number of developers who invest directly in Android and Play may have different service fees as part of broader partnerships that include work on different device formats.@ He added, “These key investment partnerships enable us to bring Android and Play to more users by continuously improving the experience for all users, and creating new opportunities for all developers.”

    Implications

The deal between Spotify and Google has significant implications for the app store industry. It suggests that companies may be able to negotiate lower commission rates with app stores if they have enough bargaining power. This also highlights the importance of competition in the app store market, as companies seek to avoid high fees by finding alternative ways to distribute their apps. It will not be a surprise if other brands start striking similar deals with the Play Store. In fact, it might affect the commission business for app stores generally.

    Spotify Tap

    Final Words

Overall, the deal between Spotify and Google is a significant development in the ongoing debate over app store fees. It shows that companies are willing to take action to avoid high fees, and that app stores may be willing to negotiate lower rates in order to retain their most valuable partners. As the app store industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these dynamics play out and what new innovations emerge as a result. • Disney Plus Black Friday Deal 2023

As we all know, the time of the year when you can go on a shopping frenzy is almost here. Black Friday sale is the time of year when you can get a number of your favourite stuff ranging from television sets to gaming consoles and even streaming services. Many streaming platforms roll out Black Friday deals but can we expect streaming giants like Disney Plus to join in on Black Friday offers? ‘Cause I would not mind at all having cheaper access to Mickey Mouse’s house. So, in this article find out about Disney Plus Black Friday Sale.

When Will Disney Plus Black Friday Deals Go Live?

I’ll admit that it would be as dope as it gets to get Disney Plus at a discounted price but there’s a catch. Disney Plus doesn’t really roll out Black Friday deals. You can quite literally find out only one instance when we got Disney Plus at a discounted price. This deal rolled out in 2021 when you could get Hulu along with Disney Plus for $4.98 per month for a year where you essentially got a premium subscription for Hulu along with…well, half of Disney Plus for “free”. As of this year’s Black Friday sale, if we do get a Disney Plus Black Friday Deal, we might see it go live sometime before the 24th of November and might stretch till the 27 November when we might get to see a Cyber Monday discount.

Disney Plus Black Friday deal 2023

If we talk about the pricing of Disney Plus, as of now Disney Plus is priced at $7.99/month for a premium with ads subscription for a year in the United States/ Canada Region. If you ask me this is not really a bad deal for the content catalog. However, we cannot count this deal as the best one out there in comparison to Hulu or Peacock who have cut their prices to as low as 99 cents!

    Disney Plus Pricing

Now if Disney Plus decides to roll out a Black Friday deal, it might not cut down its prices but instead collaborate with other services like it did before. It might launch a joint venture with Hulu or Amazon like Disney did earlier and bring us an offer where we could get either a full or a partial subscription to Disney Plus along with a premium subscription to the other service.

However, I would not recommend you get your hopes up about Disney Plus giving out a Black Friday Deal. Disney has a track record of providing its services paired with either telecommunication services or other streaming platforms and it might do the same this time as well. And if it does, we will keep you updated on the Black Friday deal.

However, if you ask me, whether we get a Disney Plus Black Friday sale or not, this streaming platform should be a part of your other subscriptions as well, especially if you are a fan of Marvel and Star Wars content. In addition to these two franchises, you get plenty of content for all age groups as well. From animated, to horror, to superhero or just some family comedy movies and TV shows, Disney Plus’s catalog is armed with anything you might need.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does Disney Plus have Black Friday deals?

Even though having a Disney Plus Black Friday deal would be totally awesome, sadly these deals on Disney Plus are extremely rare to come by and there is just one instance where we got the deal on Amazon that too indirectly.

How much will Disney Plus cost in 2023?

Disney+ Basic subscription with ads costs $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year while Disney+ Premium with no ads costs $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year.

Is there a free trial on Disney Plus in 2023?

Ans. No, Disney Plus does not offer a free trial in 2023.

  • How to Unlock iPhone Locked to Owner with or without a Computer

Your iPhone says “iPhone Locked to Owner” after a factory reset and you can’t unlock it? This is a common problem that many iPhone users face when buying a second-hand iPhone. Or forgetting their Apple ID/password, eventually lose their iPhone and find it later. In this article, we will show you how to unlock an iPhone, that is locked to owner. Both with or without a computer.

Why is my iPhone locked to owner after factory reset?

Your iPhone is locked to owner after a factory reset because Find My was not turned off prior to the factory reset. Then triggering the Activation Lock. Activation Lock is a security feature included in Find My designed to prevent unauthorized reactivation and use of the iPhone after it’s been reset.

When you set up your iPhone with an Apple ID, Find My as well as the Activation Lock is automatically turned on. Linking your iPhone to the Apple ID. If you turn off Find My or sign out of Apple ID before resetting your iPhone, Activation Lock is turned off. Then, anyone can activate and use the iPhone after it’s been reset without any restrictions.

    Option 2: Unlock with passcode

Sometimes, you’ll see an Unlock with Passcode option on the iPhone Locked to Owner screen. This option allows you bypass the iPhone Locked to Owner screen and again access to the iPhone. By entering the passcode, that was used to unlock the iPhone before it was factory reset.

Option 3: Get in touch with the owner

If you are experiencing the iPhone Locked to Owner issue on a second-hand iPhone, the best course of action is to contact the previous owner. This method works best if you have purchased the used iPhone from a friend or acquaintance. Or if you maybe have the owner’s phone number, email address, or social media account. You can explain the situation to the owner and request them to provide you with the Apple ID and password. Or to remove the iPhone Locked to Owner screen remotely.

    Option 4: Contact Apple Support

If none of the above works for you and you still have the iPhone Locked to Owner screen, as the last resort you can contact Apple Support to unlock it. This method works if you have the proof of purchase for your iPhone. You first need to submit an Activation Lock support request on the Apple Support website, providing them with the serial number, IMEI number, or MEID number of the iPhone, and the proof of purchase. Then, wait for the representative from Apple to verify your information and remove the Activation Lock from your iPhone.

    unlock iPhone locked to owner

    Conclusion

The iPhone gets locked to the owner after a factory reset because of the Activation Lock feature embedded in iOS. This is very useful in case the device is lost or stolen. However, if you forgot your Apple ID and password or bought a used iPhone, you could end up in trouble with this feature. In this case, it’s best if you can recover your Apple ID, contact the previous owner, or ask Apple Support for assistance. If none of these methods work for you, using iSumsoft iLock Refixer on your computer is the best choice to bypass the “iPhone Locked to Owner” screen and unlock your iPhone.

  • Ed Boon says that Wi-Fi filter and crossplay are ‘koming soon’ to Mortal Kombat 1

Just yesterday, we reported on a certain fan holding up a sign at a pay-per-view wrestling event, pleading with Ed Boon to add a Wi-Fi filter to Mortal Kombat 1. Though Boon has responded to these sort of stunts before, this particular situation was seemingly putting the NetherRealm Studios title in a negative light.

However, it seems that Ed Boon did end up responding to the fan’s bold way of requesting a Wi-Fi filter. As it turns out, NRS has been working hard towards implementing some much needed features for the game.

“It’s koming soon, I swear!” said Boon over Twitter in response to yesterday’s article. “Wi-Fi filter and Kross-play! We just [have to] make sure they’re solid.”

Earlier this month, Ed Boon polled the community on which quality of life features that they’d like to see in Mortal Kombat 1 the most. Crossplay ended up winning the poll with over 75% of the votes, but the other options would also be good for the game.

Ranked mode has already been switched from 3/5 to 2/3. Of course, we’re also still waiting on the ping filter and Wi-Fi filter for ranked matches. As things stand right now, a ranked match can only be declined if ping is over 150ms.

Luckily, it seems that more information about the Wi-Fi filter and crossplay features are coming soon. Boon requests that fans remain just a little more patient in the meantime.

“More info koming soon!” continued Boon. “Thanks for your patience.”

In a follow up Tweet, Ed Boon added that the Wi-Fi filter and ability to decline Wi-Fi connections will be the next quality of life changes coming to Mortal Kombat 1.

    NYT Connections Nov 22 answer

I actually got halfway through the NYT Connections puzzle before I gave up and lost all my chances. My game started out fine, with me almost immediately guessing the Yellow category. Call it a coincidence, but just seeing the word Canyon took me back to “127 Hours,” and that led to connecting all the other words. I then moved on to the Green category and solved it in the next 3-4 minutes. The extra time I took was only since I didn’t know Scarf also stood for eating like that.

However, this is when my luck ran out. While I could have guessed Snow White, I had no idea about the challenge the Purple category posed. Once I ran out of chances, the game gave me the answers, and I had my NYT Connections for November 22.

  • Omate Ice Ring Debuts with Premium Design and Features

Omate has officially announced the Ice Ring. Even though this isn’t the brand’s first smart ring, it’s the most solid offering to date. The ring comes with an eye-catching design, boasts enhanced features, and sports a premium build.

You get all of that for a not-so-premium price tag. The Omate Ice Ring costs EUR199, which is around US$220. In comparison, Ultrahuman Ring Air, with similar features and build, has a price tag of US$349. It is currently available in Europe through Louis Pion and Ice-Watch. And it’s about to drop in North America in Q1 of next year.

    Build Quality

One of the biggest standout features of the Omate Ice Ring is the build. The smart ring is made of titanium alloy, which makes it offer a premium feel. To top that off, it features a slim and minimalistic design. More specifically, the ring is 2.5 mm thick and weighs 2.9 grams, which is pretty lightweight.

    Omate Smart Ring Silver

To make sure that you can take the smart ring with you anywhere you go, Omate made the Ice Ring get the IP68 rating. This means you can take it with you to the beach or swim with it without worrying about causing any damage to its internals.

As for the fit, the Omate Ice Ring is available in six different sizes. Each of them is available in three different colors: Space Black, Silver, and Gold.

Health and Fitness Features of Omate Ice Ring

The Omate Ice Ring comes with a lot of features. It boasts health monitoring features, which include heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, blood oxygen level tracking, and much more. The smart ring can also do stress monitoring, activity tracking, and blood pressure monitoring.

In addition, the Ice Ring can make it easier to meet your fitness goats. It has activity tracking and features support for multiple sports modes. You can also record the route you’re taking during outdoor activities. It offers that through GPS and Google Maps on your smartphone. All of these make this smart ring a proper alternative to your fitness tracker.

    Sleep Monitoring Omate Ice Ring

Moreover, the Omate Ice Ring can do an in-depth sleep analysis. It tracks four stages of sleep: REM, Light Sleep, Deep Sleep, and Awake. After the smart ring does the analysis, its algorithm gives a sleep score, which ranges from 0 to 100. On this scale, the higher the score, the better you slept last night.

You can also get a detailed analysis of your sleep through the companion app. The app also offers in-depth data on your blood oxygen levels, heart rate, and other activities that the Omate Ice Ring tracks. And the good part is that the app is available for both Android and iOS devices.

    Internals, Connectivity, and Other Features

As for what powers the Omate Ice Ring, it’s a GR5515GGBD chipset from Goodix. The chip has 1MB of onboard storage. For wireless connections, the smart ring features Bluetooth 5.1. And regarding its battery life, it features a 20 mAh cell.

    Internals

While this battery capacity may seem very small, Omate says that the Ice Ring can last for four to six days with normal usage. And it features a standby time of 10 days, which is pretty much in line with the battery life that smartwatches offer these days.

    Charging Cradle

When it comes to charging the Omate Ice Ring, it bundles with a magnetic charging cradle. It can get the internal battery from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes. Again, this charging speed aligns with what smartwatches can offer these days.
