    A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has said that the appointment of Mr. Mark Okoye, a member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), is an evident that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is running all-inclusive government in Nigeria, irrespective of political, tribe, ethic and region affiliations.

    He also said that the appointment of Mr. Okoye and that of Amb. Bianca Ojukwu as the Minister of Foreign Affairs (State), shows that the Southeasterners (Igbos) are equally carry along and not marginalized as being agitated in some quarters.

    Chukwuma who is also vying for the governorship election in the state, disclosed this during a media breakfast with Journalists at his country home, Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area of State on Saturday.

    According to him, the duo appointment were based on merit and not political as being celebrated by the APGA supporters nationwide.

    “What our working President has just done by appointing this great personality from Anambra State is a true picture that President Tinubu is running a government of the people and not political party. I can authoritively tell you here that APGA members are likely to get more appointments in Tinubu’s administration. At the moment, there is a report that about 50 APGA loyalists are presently hovering around the Presidential villa begging for more appointment and this prove to you that APC is the best and only political party to welcome with in Nigeria.

    “My aspiration to governed Anambra State come 2025 is to attract government presence to the state. I will focus more on security and community development projects.”

    Sir Chukwuma while commending President Tinubu for the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and the appointment Mr. Mark Okoye as the CEO of the Commission, urged the people to support the APC and his guber ambition come November 8th, 2025 governorship election in the state.

    ASATU youths laud Soludo for delivering dividends of democracy across communities

    Youth Wing of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, (ASATU), has commended the administration of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for delivering dividends of democracy across the 179 communities in the state.

    They argued that there’s no community in Anambra State that have not benefited from the ongoing transformation policies of Soludo’s led-government, particularly on the area of youth empowerment programmes, education and road projects.

    The youth gave the commendation during the unveiling of it 179 community role models and community development Patrons.

    The event which took place at the ASATU Secretariat, Government House, Awka, on Saturday, also featured the inauguration of some new executives and the association’s 2024 end of the year party.

    Speaking further, shortly after the unveiling, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, (ASATU Youth Wing), Comrade Ken Okoli, said the unveiling of the role model was in line with Governor Soludo’s policy of promoting Public Private  Community Partnership (PPCP) in the state.

    Okoli emphasized on the mentorship role the patrons are to play in their various communities, declaring that they are expected to inspire youths in their communities through good conducts and community development.

    He further explained the rigours process of selecting the role models, noting that consultation of Traditional Rulers and the President Generals of various communities were done before each individual who has done community development projects was chosen in each of the 179 communities in the state.

    While presenting certificate of recognition and awards to the patrons, Okoli charged them to go back to their communities and inspire the youths, assuring that the event will be an annual event.

    The ASATU Youth boss, equally called for more proactive development to sustain the momentum of infrastructure across the 179 communities.

    Also speaking at the event, the newly inaugurated youth leader of Nkpo community in Idemili North Council Area of the State,  Hon Dr. Jideofor Ifeanyi, appreciated the governor for the ongoing fight against insecurity, road construction across the state and other development embarked upon by his administration within a space of two years and eight months in office.

    He however, appeal to the governor to also consider the reconstruction of the road leading to School of Nursing Nkpo, to help attract more patronage.

    Anambra elders seek peace to end 70-yrs communal land dispute

    Elders from Obinagu Achalla of Enugwu-Agidi community in Njikoka local government area, Anambra state, have commenced peace process to end 70-years old communal land dispute with their neighbouring Ezinano village-Awka, in Awka South local government area of the State.

    The elders said they were tired of holding grudges with the people of Ezinano over the land in contention.

    It was gathered that the disputed land ‘Agu Nawgu’ where about 14 journalists narrowly escaped death a year ago, when police operatives deployed to the area reportedly fired gunshots at Awka indigenes who were protesting the occupation of their land by the operatives, has been in Court since 1954.

    Briefing journalists on the peace initiative at Enugukwu-Agidi community, on Friday, the elders, Senior Apostle Wilson Okeofor, 98 years, Elder Cyprian Odogwu, 89 years and Ozo Ozoemena Obiora Okeke, 72 years, unanimously agreed to apply all possible means within their wisdom to end the crisis that have led to economic stagnation and destruction of properties worth million of naira in the area.

    According to them, “we have no much to narrate about the disputed land that have been in Court since 1954, all we want now is nothing but peace.  “We want peace with our brothers from Ezinano village-Awka, particularly, our dear brother, Ozo Jeff Nweke, who has been helping our people in different capacity.

    “We want to make peace with our neighbouring brothers and sisters for the sake of our children and the unborn generation before we join our ancestors. We are tired of living in fear and sleeping with our two eyes open on daily basis. We are currently in peace talk with some angry groups in our community. We are looking forward to a day where the both worried villages will meet via peace conference to peacefullly finalize the differences.

    “We are equally appealing to the State Government, led by governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to also intervene appropriately for the sake of oneness, peace and unity in the state,” the elders concluded.

    The Anambra State Polytechnic (ANSPOLY), Mgbakwu, in Awka North Local Government Area of the State, has held it third International Multi-Disciplinary Conference.

    The event took place at the School auditorium on Wednesday.

    In her opening address, Ag. Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Njideka Rita Chiekezie, said the primary purpose of the conference with the Theme; “Innovation for Sustainable Development in a Digital Era.” is to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, and experts to share their research findings, ideas, and experiences with a community of peers and other technological matters of the 21st century.

    She added that ANSPOLY aims to achieve excellence through promoting the acquisition of technological and academic competencies in a serene academic environment.

    On her brief remark, the Local Organizing Committee Chairman of the event, Dr Uzondu Chikodiri Scholastica, said the conference scheduled to end on Thursday December 12th, 2024 is expected to provide a forum for sharing innovative concepts, encouraging teamwork, and tackling the urgent problems facing science, technology and Innovation.

    Police arrest Cross River man over death of 7-year-old child at construction site

    Police Operatives attached to the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters Onitsha , the commercial city of Anambra State has arrested one Alfred Bassey (M) aged 40 over sudden death of his seven year-old child.

    The incident took place at a construction site along Trans- Nkisi Layout, Onitsha, on December, 13th 2024 by 9am.

    The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga who discovered this in a statement in Awka on Friday, said the alleged father of the death child is a native of Abi local government area of Cross River State.

    He said the arrest was in connection with the ongoing investigation of a reported case of the unfortunate incident.

    According to him, preliminary investigation reveals that the father of the victim forcibly took the minor from the mother and has been living with him in an uncompleted building at Trans-Nkisi Layout Onitsha.

    Furthermore, on 11th December 2024, the lifeless body of the child was found in a soak away pit dug in the abandoned uncompleted building after the suspect left the child for an unknown destination. The body of the child was later recovered and taken to the hospital before he was confirmed dead by a doctor.

    The State Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam saddened by this development admonished parents to prioritize the well-being of their children against any difference they may have had with their spouse to avoid exposing them to emotional and psychological trauma and/or death.

    He further directs the immediate transfer of the Case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a more detailed investigation.

    A Chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Umuawulu community, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, High Chief Azubuike Austin Ekweozor (Ide Umuawulu), has commenced a mobilization campaign for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s second term bid.

    Chief Ekweozor, who spoke to journalists, on Wednesday, after meeting with Umuawulu ward party executives and stakeholders, expressed his support for the governor, citing his impressive performance in just two years and eight months in office.

    According to Ekweozor, the governor’s achievements have surpassed those of his predecessors, adding that “there is no vacancy” in Anambra State Government House in 2025.

    “Soludo has taken public service to a higher level and has raised the bar as far as governance is concerned. His style of governance is the opposite of ‘brigandage’, which other desperate politicians have exemplified in the past. His resounding performances in job creation, youth empowerment, roads and rural infrastructure, industrialisation, health, and education within the above-mentioned period has given him the second term victory.”

    Ide Umuawulu’s grassroots-oriented foundation, Ide Global Movement, which has a presence in all communities constituting Awka North/South Federal Constituency, is also backing Soludo’s second term bid. The foundation aims to empower the less privileged and support good governance.

    The Umuawulu APGA ward executives and stakeholders installed Chief Ekweozor as the leader of the party in the community.

    The Chieftan expressed gratitude to the Umuawulu APGA family and promised to use his influence to build the party and bring back aggrieved members.

    The Umuawulu APGA ward Chairman, Hon. Sunday Okpala, who spoke on behalf of the party executives, described Chief Ekweozor as the party’s pillar with the financial muscle to move the party forward. He stated that the re-election of Governor Soludo in 2025 will strengthen the unity of Ndigbo, giving them a stronger voice at the centre.

    The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the President General of Umuawulu Community, Chief Barrister Chris Ekweozor, and the Awka South LGA APGA Chairman, Barrister Chukwuma Lawrence.

    A minute’s silence was also observed in honor of the late APGA Umuawulu leader, Rt. Hon. Harford Oseke.

    The acting Rector of Anambra State Polytechnic (ANSPOLY), Mgbakwu, in Awka North Local Government Area of the State, Dr Njideka Rita Chiekezie, has given lack of Higher National Diploma (HND) status, lack of Medical complex, lack of Legal unit and lack of self-managemrnt as factors behind low patronage of students in the Institution.

    Dr. Chiekezie disclosed this to Journalists as part of her opening address at the ongoing 3rd edition of the Polytechnic’s International Multi-Disciplinary Conference, held at the School auditorium, on Wednesday.

    She said the Institution that was upgraded in 2017 from School of Agriculture by then, the administration of governor Willie Obiano is currently running only National Diploma (ND) with interim accreditation of twelve 2-year (ND) courses in four schools or faculties.

    According to her, we have not started HND programme and which is why we are painfully witnessing low student intake in our State-owned Polytechnic. No student want to come and do he/her ND here and then seek HND elsewhere. We are appealing to the State Government, ably lead by Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo to enable us manned HND status.

    “The School management is also disturbed because many of it Staff are product from the State Ministries/Departments/Agencies (MDAs) which the Polytechnic National Regulatory bodies are against. We have no payroll status of our owned. We don’t have bursary unit here. Salaries are being paid from our various state MDAs. The Polytechnic should be able to own it staff and pay them at when due.

    Our vision is to be a leading Polytechnic of great reputation, with an outstanding and enviable academic standard, equipping students to be technologically skilled, morally-sound and entrepreneurial-minded.

    “ANSPOLY aims under my watch is to achieve excellence through promoting the acquisition of technological and academic competencies in a serene academic environment.  It is important to mention that ANSPOLY is enlisted among the NBTE-approved Polytechnics in Nigeria offering National Diploma (ND) following the interim accreditation of twelve 2-year National diploma (ND) courses in four schools or faculties. The preparations for NBTE inspection visit and accreditation for the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes are on. This is our major challenge presently.

    “I am happy as it stands now that our working, governor, Prof  Soludo, has constitute a special committee to look into the challenges and I am optimistic that with the governor intervention, the disturbing challenges will be fully addressed in no distance time,” the Rector stressed

    A group, Youth Earnestly Support Soludo (YESS), has commenced the distribution of bags of rice to Anambra youths across the 21 local government area of the State for this year Christmas and New year celebration.

    The convener of the group, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr. Obinna Nelson Omenugha,  flagged off the distribution alongside other top executive members of the group at the International Conversation Center Awka on Sunday.

    The distribution commenced shortly after the group concluded it 5th edition of this year’s 2024 Carol of Nine lessons, held at the same venue.

    Speaking to Journalists at the event, Dr. Omenugha who thanked Governor Soludo for practicing the APGA mantra of being a “brothers’ keeper,” revealed that the palliative will be distributed to deserving YESS members who are fully committed to governor Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state in Nigeria.

    According to him, YESS comprises youths who are very passionate about Governor Chukwuma Soludo as well as who believe in his person and are honestly praying for his continue success to take Anambra State to the next level.

    Speaking on the expectation of YESS in the 2025, Omenugha noted that the group is fully prepared to ensure 21/21 victory for governor Soludo’s second term bid come November 8th, 2025 governorship election in the state.

    Speaking about the carol of Nine lessons organized by YESS, Omenugha said that YESS Carol, an annual ritual initiated in 2019 is one of the activities put forward to end the year stronger and in a high spirit. He described the 2024 outgoing year as a very challenging one to Nigerians adding that the YESS movement designed the program to enable the members who are mostly youths to feel the breeze of Yuletide season.

    “We put forward this carol as a means of bringing the leadership of this YESS in different wards of different local governments and zones in the state together so that we appreciate them for staying strong to achieve the ambition of YESS.

    “We are also very passionate about rewarding and showing gratitude to all those persons that have been investing, committing their resources, time, and talents to YESS. What we are doing in YESS is to join hands together to ensure that our mission is progressing and this is an opportunity to appreciate them,” Omenugha noted.

    Also speaking at the event, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Dr Mazi Ejimofor Opara, noted that the occasion was a unification factor as it brought Anambra youths together to sing soulful songs to God Almighty.

    The event also witnessed the presence of the member representing Idemili South State Constituency at the Anambra House of Assembly, Hon Ebuka Igwe, Vice Chairman of Onitsha South Council Area, Hon. Onyebuchi Obi Charles, YESS Golden Ladies, among many other youths.

    Anambra 2025: Why we want Soludo back, rural dwellers

    The people of Anambra State, particularly those residing at the rural areas has explained why governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, should be stressless reelected come November 8th, 2025 governorship election in the state.

    They said the non-stop transformation projects currently ongoing across the 179 communities within two years and eight months in office is enough evident for every voters-card carrier residing in Anambra to champion for his reelection bid.

    According to them, since the returned of democracy in 1999 in Nigeria, no governor in Anambra State has done what governor Soludo have done within a space of two years and eight months in office, particularly in road rehabilitation/construction across the 21 local government area of the State without borrowing a dim. So, we want him back to continue what he has started.

    The people were expressing their separate satisfaction while speaking to Journalists that just concluded a three-day Soludo’s project monitoring tour across the three Senatorial Districts in the state. The tour was sponsored by the State Ministry of Works.

    At the Anambra Central Senatorial District, Awka community leaders and chieftains of APGA, in the area, Comrade Ozo Ochijee Modilim and Ozo Samuel Nwafor, in their reactions, expressed satisfaction with the quality of rehabilitation/construction of work currently ongoing in Awka and it environ.

    According to the community leaders, this is the first time since Awka was named the state capital of Anambra, we are witnessing this transformative projects.

    “Since Anambra was created in 1999 and Awka was made the state capital, we have never seen what governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is presently doing in Anambra. Soludo came into power when Awka doesn’t look like a state capital but as we speak now,  Awka is wearing a Dubai/Taiwan faces with the ongoing construction of new Government House/Lodge that accommodates a total of 30 buildings, construction of Solution Innovation District, construction of Funcity Event Centre, construction of Ifite -Amenyi flyover, construction of Unizik junction-W junction – Isuoanocha-Achalla-Igbariam road, the construction of Amasea-Ebenebe-Awba-Ofemili road in Awka North Council Area of the State, to mention but few.

    “The governor has done beyond the expection of Awka indigenes. We are going to do everything political possible to ensure that the governor is stressless reelected for a second term in office.

    “We are urgently appealing to the governor to also channel his administrative energy to the issue of insecurity currently threatening the peace of the State capital. We need more security input that would help actualized the dream of making Awka a Dubai-Taiwan city in Nigeria, the chieftains stated.

    Also reacting, Mr Ambrose Nweke and Mrs Antonia Okoye attested that the newly constructed Amasea-Ebenebe-Awba Ofemili road has improved their means of livelihood (farming) to a greater heights.

    The equally vow to support the governor’s reelection bid.

    At Anambra North Senatorial District, the Chief Pharmacist of Okpoko General Hospital Okpoko, Ogbaru council area, Mr Ikenna Nelson, a businessman, Mr Ebele Edward, a resident of Onitsha South Council Area, Comrade Paul Nwachalla and a female farmer from Anam community in Anambra West Council Area, Mrs Ngozi Chinwoba, says the new roads constructed in the Senatorial District, particularly at the rural areas has attracted non-indigenes from neighbouring states of Kogi and Delta to the local area.

    They again promised to support the governor’s second term agenda.

    At Anambra South Senatorial District, the traditional ruler of Awa community in Orumba North, local government area, Igwe Israel Okeke Ezue, President General of Ogboji community, Prince Ebudo Emechebe, the vice president general of Ekwulobia community, Elder Frank Timothy, in Aguata council area and Ozo Calem Ebo, Chibueze Okafor (Orumba North/South LGA), all in Anambra South, on their parts, commended the governor for embarking on the dualization of strategic roads in the zone, as well as the Ekwulobia Flyover project, which they noted would transform the entire District to be named among the smart cities in Anambra State.

    They equally assure the governor of block votes come November 8th 2025.

    A hotelier at Nnewi, in Nnewi North Council Area, Mr. Obiora Ihazunya, who also spoke on Soludo’s infrastructural policy, described him as the most outstanding and transparent governor Anambra have ever produced.

    The contractor handling the ongoing construction of the State new Government House and the governor’s lodge, Engr Ikechukwu Nnahasi, on his update, said the new Government House will be completed in the next two weeks.

    Nnahasi who is also the President of IykeJordan Group, commend the State Commissioner for Works, Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, for organizing the media tour.

    The Works Commissioner, Engr Okoma, in his speech, noted that governor Soludo has awarded a total of 621.649 kilometers of road within a space of two years and eight months in office and out of the above mentioned figure, 316 kilometers are fully completed for used.

    He further said that the government is building a water park and amusement park in Awka to provide recreational spaces for the public, as the state capital currently lacks such facilities.

    “We are taking Anambra State to greater heights, where every Anambra citizen will be proud to live and do business. We are building Anambra State to reduce poverty in the coming years. By the end of this administration’s first tenure, the poverty level in the state will be lower, and our people abroad will begin to return home and engage in business,” he said.

    Okoma also emphasized that the vision of the Soludo-led administration is to make Anambra State a destination, rather than a departure point, as has been the case in the past.

    Journalists in Anambra State, on Saturday, concluded a three-day inspection tour of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s projects in the state.

    The project tour which commences on Thursday 5th December, 2024 cut across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

    Addressing members of the tour, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), in the state Mrs Ngozi Obileri, said the tour was to ascertain the level/quality of completed and ongoing projects in the state.

    According to her, what governor Soludo is currently doing is an unexplained testament that truly solution is here in Anambra State.

    The Governor has, through his oriented programmes and policies, restored people’s confidence in governance.

    “We will continue to partner with the Ministry of Works and the state government at large (media wise) to ensure that the governor actualized his 2070 vision of making Anambra a peaceful, secure livable and prosperous homeland for all Nigerians,” Mrs Obileri assured.

    On his part, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works, Mr. Okoli Sunday, said this is the first of its kind for the Ministry to invite all the major media houses in Nigeria to tour project site across the three Senatorial Districts in the state. The tour would afford broad spectrum of the masses an opportunity to know the giant strides of Mr governor on infrastructural development especially, road construction.

    Mr Sunday while urging the media to continue to project positively the good works of governor Soludo before the World, also commended the governor for connecting Anambra State with quality road network, particularly at the rural areas.

    The State Commissioner for Works , Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, while appreciating the media for the tour, appeal to other residents in the state to continue to pray for the governor to enable him complete the good job he has started.
