  • There’s a Huge Partisan Gap Between Republicans and Democrats Who Plan to Get Covid ‘Boosters’

According to the latest KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation) COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor poll, 52% of U.S. adults express reluctance to receive the new COVID-19 vaccine, stating they will “probably” or “definitely” not get it. Conversely, 23% of adults have firm plans to receive the vaccine, with another 23% leaning towards getting it.

The poll also discovered that among those who are committed to receiving the vaccine, a majority are Democrats and/or at least 65 years old. Specifically, 70% of Democrats intend to get the new vaccine compared to just 24% of Republicans.

This survey was conducted between September 6 and September 13, involving 1,296 U.S. adults through online and telephone polls. KFF, headquartered in San Francisco, is an independent source for health policy research, polling, and journalism.

Drew Altman, KFF’s president and CEO, stated in a press release that the poll reveals that the majority of the nation still trusts the CDC and the FDA regarding vaccines, but there is a noticeable partisan gap. Most Republicans do not trust the nation’s regulatory and scientific agencies responsible for vaccine approval and guidance.

“The poll shows that most of the nation still trusts the CDC and the FDA on vaccines — but there is a partisan gap, and most Republicans don’t trust the nation’s regulatory and scientific agencies responsible for vaccine approval and guidance,” KFF’s president and CEO, Drew Altman, said in a press release.

The poll also highlighted a partisan divide concerning COVID precautions. Among Democrats, 58% are likely to take extra precautions such as wearing masks, avoiding travel, and refraining from public gatherings due to rising COVID cases. In contrast, only 16% of Republicans express a similar inclination.

Regarding the vaccination of children, more than half of parents indicate that they will “probably” or “definitely” not vaccinate their children, despite the CDC’s recommendation for children aged 6 months and older to receive the COVID vaccine.

In contrast, most adults (68%) and parents (55%) support mandatory vaccines for healthy children for diseases like measles, mumps, and rubella. However, 43% of parents and 31% of adults believe that the decision regarding vaccinating children should be left to the parents’ discretion.

Interestingly, the survey participants are more inclined to receive the flu shot and the new RSV vaccine than the new COVID vaccine.

Dr. Marc Siegel, a clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and a Fox News medical contributor, believes that the decision to get the new vaccine should be a personal one, based on facts rather than politics or fear. He emphasizes that the vaccine may not prevent the spread of the virus but can reduce the risk of long COVID, including myocarditis.

“The problem is that too many decisions about the new COVID vaccine are driven by politics and fear rather than by an understanding of either viruses or vaccines,” he told Fox News Digital. “The reason the CDC is recommending [the new COVID vaccine] for [those who are] six months and up is because the CDC’s statistics have shown that during the pandemic, half of the children hospitalized had no preexisting conditions,” Siegel noted.

“But as Dr. Paul Offit [at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania] has pointed out to me, many of those kids were unvaccinated, and also, much of this data is from earlier in the pandemic,” he added.

Dr. Siegel suggests that individuals at higher risk, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions like obesity, heart disease, cancer, lung disease, and immunodeficiencies, should consider getting vaccinated. However, he advises against vaccination for those who have had recent COVID or experienced adverse reactions to previous vaccines.

Regarding other vaccines, Dr. Siegel recommends the flu shot for everyone and the RSV shot for elderly individuals. Pregnant women should consult with their obstetrician to make a case-by-case decision.

  • W.Va. couple arrested after allegedly locking adopted children in barn for days at a time

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (TCD) — A welfare check led to the arrest of two people this week who allegedly confined their adopted children to a barn without proper food or water.

According to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, Oct. 2, at approximately 5:46 p.m., deputies were called out to the 200 block of Cheyenne Lane. No parents or caretakers were home, so deputies forced entry into the barn.

Inside, the Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a male and a female juvenile locked in a 20-by-14-foot room without running water or a proper bathroom, and they were “obviously deprived of adequate hygienic care and food.”

According to a criminal complaint obtained by WCHS-TV, the caller who requested the welfare check told dispatchers they believed the victims were confined to the shed for days at a time. The caller reportedly saw 63-year-old Donald Lantz open the door to talk to the children before he closed it and locked them in. The caller also said the children were allegedly forced to perform farm work and had to stay outside the home.

According to WCHS, deputies observed just one table and a chair inside the barn. The children, who were wearing dirty clothes, allegedly emitted a strong body odor, indicating that they hadn’t properly bathed for days. Deputies also noticed a concrete floor, plywood walls, and a camera in the corner of the room.

During a search of the property, the Sheriff’s Office discovered another small child locked inside the main home in an unprotected loft that was around 15 feet high.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Josh Lester told WCHS, “It’s a pretty bad case. You know, any type of situation like this is not really comparable to this horrific condition. It’s just not how you want or how you would expect children to be raised or taken care of.”

The victims’ adoptive parents, Lantz and 61-year-old Jeanne Whitefeather, eventually arrived on scene and were arrested on felony charges of gross child neglect creating a substantial risk of injury.

According to WCHS, Whitefeather confessed to deputies that she and Lantz left the children in the barn and that they “like it.”

The couple remains held in the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail each.

Child Protective Services took custody of the three adopted children.

  • Calif. woman arrested at Denny’s restaurant after lengthy police chase

CORONA, Calif. (TCD) — Police arrested a 26-year-old woman this week who allegedly stole a work truck, rammed it into police vehicles, and fled into a Denny’s restaurant.

According to a news release from the La Habra Police Department, on Monday, Oct. 2, at around 8:11 p.m., officers were called to Imperial Highway and Idaho Street to a report of a stolen vehicle hitting a police car with an officer inside.

The suspect, Niqwayzh Green, led police on a chase throughout Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, KABC-TV reports. During the pursuit, she allegedly rammed into police cruisers, took out a fence, and drove on the wrong side of Highway 91.

Green reportedly abandoned the damaged truck and fled the scene on foot, dodging other passing vehicles. According to KABC, she ran across a parking lot, causing her wig to fall off.

Police followed her into a Denny’s, where she allegedly brandished a gun and caused a lengthy standoff.

A Denny’s employee told KABC, “There was only one guy in the restaurant and she ran in, flashed a gun, and ran out to the back. The cops came in right away after her.”

Police apprehended Green at the Denny’s on charges of assault with a deadly weapon against officers, possession of stolen property, and evading a parole violation. Officials took her away in an ambulance.

Police said Green was on parole for burglary.

  • House GOP Members Begin Push to Expel Matt Gaetz

Republican colleagues of Rep. Matt Gaetz are seeking to expel him from office as the outspoken Florida lawmaker spearheads an effort to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Gaetz has pledged to file a motion to vacate the speakership of Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California.

Long frustrated with Gaetz, who has consistently criticized GOP leadership and undermined his own party, some Republicans are eager to expel him if the House Ethics Committee, currently investigating him, finds evidence of wrongdoing, according to a report by Fox News on Sunday.

“No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals,” one lawmaker told the outlet. To pass a motion for expulsion, a two-thirds vote is required, which means that Democrats would need to support it, given the current makeup of the lower chamber with 221 Republicans and 212 Democrats.

Gaetz has consistently asserted his innocence in the ongoing ethics probe, which is reportedly approaching its conclusion. The investigation is focused on allegations ranging from sexual misconduct and illicit drug use to potential public corruption.

With Republicans holding only a narrow four-seat majority in the lower chamber, Gaetz presents a significant challenge to McCarthy’s position as Speaker of the House.

On Sunday, Kevin McCarthy fired back at Matt Gaetz over their Speaker fight. Margaret Brennan asked McCarthy if he could survive a Speaker fight.

“Yes, I’ll survive,” McCarthy replied. “This is personal with Matt. Matt voted against the most conservative ability to protect our border, secure the border. He’s more interested in securing TV interviews than doing something.”

“He wanted to push us into a shutdown, even threatening his own district with all the military people there who would not be paid,” he added. “Only because he wants to take this motion.”

“So be it. Bring it on,” he added. “Let’s get over with it and let’s start governing. If he’s upset because he tried to push us in a shutdown and I made sure government didn’t shut down, then let’s have that fight.”

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich weighed in on the House battle.

“The effort to expel Matt Gaetz for being a destructive, irresponsible anti-Republican may be a step too far,” Gingrich said on X. “Expulsion from the House requires a two thirds vote. However expelling him from the House Republican Conference and eliminating all his committee assignments and all resources other than those an individual member is entitled to would be a rational response to his suicidal efforts to cripple the House GOP.”

Gaetz has been ratcheting up his pressure on McCarthy for allegedly failing to comply with agreements he made with Republican conservative members.

  • GOP resists more funding for Ukraine

    By Liz Peek

In August, President Biden demanded another $24 billion in aid to Ukraine; the request almost shut down our government.

Avoiding that politically damaging prospect, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in recent days shepherded a spending bill through the House that will keep the government running for the next 45 days, but which omitted Ukraine funding.

Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Calif.) was among those who balked at the increased commitment. Speaking to Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo, Garcia said, “We’re spending $12 billion a month in Ukraine; it feels like we’re spending that amount of money just to tie.”

He’s right. Russian President Vladimir Putin illegally invaded a sovereign nation and has committed unspeakable acts of barbarism that must be punished. But we need to know: what’s the plan? How are we going to win or end this war?

This is on President Biden. He needs to speak to the public about our mission in Ukraine and answer tough questions about what the endgame looks like. He needs to explain why protecting the people of that distant nation is more important than protecting the citizens of our own country from the drug cartels in Mexico, which he is utterly failing to do.

He must justify a proxy war that has cost our country $113 billion so far, including money spent replenishing depleted U.S. military stockpiles. That total does not include ancillary costs of the war such as higher food and oil prices.

Americans deserve to know why Europe is not paying more for the defense of Ukraine, a country that borders Poland and Hungary but not the United States. CBS News reports that the U.S. has sent Ukraine $43 billion in weaponry; Europe has contributed $30 billion.

We also need to be reassured that our investment in Ukraine is being rigorously protected. Two Department of Defense Inspector General reports published earlier this year described inadequate tracking of arms sent to Ukraine, and theft of some weapons by criminals.

A recent “60 Minutes” episode on CBS showed about $25 billion in American funds being used to pay the salaries of Ukraine’s 57,000 first responders and to buy seeds for the country’s farmers. In addition, U.S. taxpayers are subsidizing many of Ukraine’s small businesses, much as they did in our country during the pandemic shutdown. The Inspector General of the Small Business Administration has reported that some $200 billion was stolen from our COVID programs; have we managed to prevent that kind of looting in Ukraine, ranked the second most corrupt country in Europe by Transparency International?

Voters have questions, and many are wearying of the war.

A recent CNN poll asked, “Do you think Congress should or should not authorize additional funding to support Ukraine in the war with Russia?” Some 55 percent of respondents were against more aid, while 45 percent supported the extra funding. Asked whether or not the U.S. should do more to stop Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, a majority said we had done enough — a major reversal from 18 months ago.

When asked if they approved of Biden’s handling of the situation in Ukraine, 53 percent of respondents disapproved. And when asked about various threats flowing from the conflict with Russia, respondents were far and away most concerned — at 77 percent — that the war would continue on without a resolution for a long time.

That is why Biden needs to make his case. The president and his allies, and indeed many Republicans, argue that allowing Vladimir Putin to invade and occupy Ukraine means that he will next attack another European country as he tries to rebuild Russia’s lost empire. It is possible that the next target might be a NATO ally, which would possibly draw us into a broader conflict.

Traveling in Ukraine, GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told CBS, “Here’s what we’ve gotten for our investment. We haven’t lost one soldier. We reduced the combat power of the Russian army by 50 percent, and not one of us has died in that endeavor. This is a great deal for America.”

Republican candidate Nikki Haley says a win for Putin in Russia is a win for China. That is probably true, too. But as the war drags on, Americans have become less convinced that the U.S. can (or has the will to) stop Putin, who is being armed by China, Iran and other nations hostile to the U.S.

That concern arises from the serial missteps made by the Biden White House in managing the war. The president infuriated Ukraine officials by initially suggesting that a “minor incursion” by Russia might be tolerated. He then imposed what he described as “severe” sanctions against Moscow but also claimed that the penalties were not meant to forestall an invasion, directly contradicting his own secretary of state.

Those sanctions were meant to bring to bring Russia to its knees, but after an initial jolt to its economy and stock market, the skyrocketing price of oil (and Moscow’s ability to evade U.S.-led efforts to block sales) has led to a rebound. Stocks are higher than they were pre-COVID and manufacturing is expanding at its fastest rate since 2017. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and just recently estimated the Russian economy will grow 1.5 percent this year; previously, the EBRD had forecast a contraction.

Biden has persistently dithered over military support for Ukraine. Tanks or no tanks? Fighter jets or no fighter jets? He has been timid and too late at many key points, allowing Russia to make strides while Ukraine waited for needed weapons.

Economically and militarily, Biden’s efforts have been insufficient. Even his diplomacy has flopped. Russia has strengthened ties with China, where trade has increased 32 percent so far this year and India, where trade with Russia has tripled.

    No wonder voters are balking.

  • Biden Takes on Musk for Allowing Free Speech on X (VIDEO)

Biden Takes on Musk for Allowing Free Speech on X (VIDEO)

President Joe Biden once again has gone after Elon Musk, the tech billionaire who took over the social media platform “X,” in a recent interview with Pro Publica.

“What about what Elon Musk has done to Twitter lowering guardrails against misinformation?” host John Harwood asked. “Does that contribute to it?”

“Yeah, it does,” Biden replied. “Look, one of the things, as I said to you, when I thought I wasn’t going to run, I was going to write a book about the changes taking place. And most of it’s directed over the years with these fundamental changes in society by changing technology. Gutenberg Printing and the printing press changed the way Europeans could talk to one another all the way to today.”

“Where do people get their news? They go on the internet, they go online, they go, and you have no notion whether it’s true or not,” he claimed.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that the Biden administration is conducting multiple investigations into his companies due to potential animosity towards him, given his outspoken criticism of the president and the Democratic Party.

Musk shared a brief message on his social media platform, X, in response to a Wall Street Journal editorial titled “The Harassment of Elon Musk.”

The Journal’s editorial opened with the question, “Does the Biden Administration have a vendetta against Elon Musk?” Musk’s response was a straightforward, “It certainly appears that way.”

As noted in The Journal’s editorial, Musk has earned the title of “Progressive Enemy No. 1” due to his platform, X, allowing Americans to openly criticize Democrats, including President Joe Biden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

There is substantial evidence that the U.S. government is functioning like a cartel to silence those who might criticize government officials or disrupt its undemocratic agenda.

The editorial board of The Journal criticized the Biden administration for what they see as “regulatory harassment” directed at Musk, whose diverse array of businesses includes X, the electric car manufacturer Tesla, the space exploration company SpaceX, the neural implant tech firm Neuralink, and the tunnel construction venture known as the Boring Company.

“The Tesla CEO faces a remarkable number of government probes,” the Journal wrote Friday.

Musk has been increasingly outspoken pushing back against a Biden administration that has become increasingly hostile to Americans’ free speech rights.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk in March lit up President Biden, following a tweet boasting about the strides he made in his fight against climate change.

“In my first year in office, we protected more lands and waters than any president since John F. Kennedy,” Biden tweeted. “We’ve also made the largest investment to fight climate change – ever. Today, we’re building on that momentum by protecting additional natural wonders.”

Musk fired back at Biden’s climate change post. “@POTUS umm…the banks are melting,” he pointed out.

Propaganda has been an aspect of politics since the beginning of history. The government has been the primary and most damaging source of misinformation throughout history, as pointed out by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

“Do you know who is the greatest propagator of disinformation in the history of the world?” he asked at a Senate hearing. “U.S. government.”

In a 2023 Gallup survey, half of Americans said they believe national news organizations intend to mislead, misinform or persuade the public to adopt a particular point of view through their reporting.

This state of affairs has arisen due to independent news agencies and social media critics pointing out the numerous flaws in government narratives, which was traditionally the role that the legacy news media was meant to play in America.

The Americans have ample reason to distrust whether or not the legacy media is telling them the truth. Hunter Biden’s laptop was called the result of a Russian disinformation campaign by 51 former Intelligence Community officials, thus leading to the censorship of journalistic outlets like the New York Post on Twitter and other social media platforms. The Hunter Biden laptop was subsequently verified after the 2020 election.

There was also the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, which arose due to Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee pointing to a Steele dossier they commissioned to smear a presidential candidate. The Steele dossier was a collection of unsubstantiated rumors and raw intelligence that was uncritically repeated in the U.S. media, which led to legacy outlets awarding journalists Pulitzer Prizes for misleading the public.

There are numerous other examples, such as the “fine people” hoax, which Biden has repeatedly pointed to as evidence that Donald Trump is a “racist,” even though Trump certainly condemned white supremacists after the Charlottesville tragedy. Thus, President Biden is guilty of spreading damaging misinformation. And the legacy media have been complicit in promoting his dishonest narratives on many occasions.

Independent journalists represent a secondary line of defense against a legacy media that is undoubtedly compromised; whether it be through radical ideological indoctrination in the colleges, the desire to maintain professionally beneficial relationships with sources in the U.S. government, or corporate media leadership colluding to push the government’s agenda, or a combination of all three, the American people need outside voices to be a check on this corrupt media complex.

Elon Musk has provided a potent and effective platform for that worthy and laudable project. Progressives believe such free speech platforms are a threat, but they are essential for the American people to hold government accountable.

  • Kevin McCarthy Gets Humiliated on ‘Disgrace the Nation’

Kevin McCarthy Gets Humiliated on ‘Disgrace the Nation’

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was called out on “Disgrace the Nation” on Sunday, as host Margaret Brennan exposed his narrative that he had to cut a deal with the Democrats in order pass the spending bill and avoid a government “shutdown.”

“Most in the press probably thought we would’ve shut down yesterday too, but no, we did not,” McCarthy argued.

“Were you confident we wouldn’t shut down?” Brennan asked.

“I was confident I could get something on the floor to make sure the option that we would not — that our military — was going to pass,” he continued. “Well, I wasn’t sure it was going to pass. You want to know why? Because the Democrats tried to do everything they can, not to let it pass. They did.”

“Democrats were the ones who voted for this,” she pointed out, noticeably smirking. “A larger number than Republicans to keep the continuing resolution alive.”

“Did you watch the floor yesterday?” McCarthy asked.

“Oh yes,” she replied. “90 Republicans voted against it. One. Democrat.”

Indeed, Brennan is right. On Saturday, the House of Representatives approved a “clean” stopgap funding bill to prevent a government shutdown. The legislation was sent to the Senate for consideration just hours before the midnight funding deadline.

This measure would maintain current government spending levels for a period of 45 days and includes $16 billion in disaster relief, matching the amount requested by the White House in a supplemental proposal. However, it does not include aid for Ukraine or any changes to border policies.

The House overwhelmingly passed the stopgap bill with a bipartisan vote of 335-91, shortly after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) introduced the proposal. Ninety Republicans and one Democrat voted against it.

This move marks a significant change in Speaker McCarthy’s approach to government funding, potentially putting his Speakership at risk as conservative members of the House intensify their threats to remove him from his position.

“U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he will be moving forward with an effort to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after the House passed a continuing resolution to fund the government for a few more weeks,” Trending Politics News reported. “Gaetz and a number of House Freedom Caucus members have accused McCarthy of failing to live up to agreements hashed out when he was elected speaker this past January.”

During the recent weeks of budget negotiations, Gaetz emerged as a prominent proponent of single-issue spending bills rather than omnibus resolutions.

“We have to break the fever. We have to move to single-subject spending bills,” the Florida congressman told Tapper.

“So you broke a fever?” Tapper then asked. “No, we didn’t, unfortunately,” Gaetz replied. “That’s why we have to now move to vacate, because we have to get a system where the House and Senate will negotiate over each of these agencies of government independently.”

While the Saturday vote moves the country closer to avoiding a government shutdown, it also increases the risk of McCarthy losing his Speakership. Hard-line Republicans had been publicly warning for weeks that the Speaker could face a vote of no confidence if he collaborated with Democrats on funding the government.

In response to these threats, McCarthy stated on Saturday that he would not be deterred, saying, “If someone wants to remove me because I want to be the adult in the room, go ahead and try. But I think this country is too important. And I will stand with our military. I’ll stand with our border agents. I’ll stand with those that have to get their medicine from the government as well. I think that’s too important.”

Brittany Renner just opened up about her sex life to Shannon Sharpe in a big way … revealing she’s slept with 35 men — a number that stunned the Pro Football Hall of Famer so much, he had to take a big swig of booze.

The “Basketball Wives” star made the remark while chatting with Sharpe on his “Club Shay Shay” podcast about Derek Jeter’s dating life.

Renner said to Sharpe her roster of partners was very comparable to the Yankees legend’s … and then she told the former Denver Broncos star her body count.

Sharpe then reacted as if he had seen a ghost … nearly spitting up his water — before shooting some booze.
