  • Judicial Watch: Lawsuit Uncovers 2016 Joe Biden Email Showing Hunter Biden Copied on Ukraine President Information

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today it received five pages of records from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) that show then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter received a May 26, 2016, email detailing a scheduled “8:45 am prep for a 9 am phone call with Pres Poroshenko,” who was the president of Ukraine. Joe Biden’s email address is the alias robert.l.peters@pci.gov, Hunter Biden’s email account is disclosed as hbiden@rosemontseneca.com. (Hunter Biden was on the board of the controversial Ukrainian firm Burisma at the time.)

The email, with the subject line “Friday Schedule Cards” was sent by John S. Flynn, who was Joe Biden’s assistant:

Boss–8:45am prep for 9am phone call with Pres Poroshenko. Then we’re off to Rhode Island for infrastructure event and then Wilmington for UDel commencement. Nate will have your draft remarks delivered later tonight or with your press clips in the morning.

    Respectfully,

    John

The email also contains information on U.S. military troops under the heading “Daily US Troops Update”:

               # US Troops Died in Iraq/Afghanistan: 6,745

    # US Troops Wounded in Iraq/Afghanistan: 52,392

    US Troop Levels:

Afghanistan (Security Assistance, Advisory and CT): 10,000

    Iraq (Security Assistance): 4,000

The email was obtained thanks to a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the National Archives for Biden family records and communications regarding travel and finance transactions, as well as communications between the Bidens and several known business associates (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. National Archives (No. 1:23-cv-01432).

In August 2023, James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee called on the National Archives to provide then-Vice President Joe Biden’s records regarding his duties that overlapped with his son’s activities in Ukraine. Chairman Comer is pursuing communications in which Joe Biden used a pseudonym, as well as those in which Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin, or Devon Archer are copied.

“This is another smoking gun. It blows out of the water the notion that there was any distance between Joe and Hunter Biden on the Burisma influence-peddling scandal,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Judicial Watch has nearly a dozen Freedom of Information Act lawsuits regarding records concerning Biden corruption issues, including:

In March 2023, the Archives had released only 1,276 pages of over 8,000 records about the unprecedented document dispute and raid on the home of former President Trump.

In October 2022, Judicial Watch sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for all communications between the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding the search warrant which precipitated the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022.

Also in October, Judicial Watch sued the Barak Obama Presidential Library for Obama White House records about the 2016 “Russia Collusion Hoax.”  The records, which by law were not available under FOIA until five years after President Obama left office, are held at the Library, which is part of the National Archives system.

  • Pa. man accused of beating his 85-year-old wife to death over vet bills for their cat

LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (TCD) — An 84-year-old man stands accused of fatally beating his 85-year-old wife during an argument about money for their cat’s veterinarian bills.

According to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, shortly after 2:20 p.m., Barton Seltmann called the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department and reported an unresponsive female. Seltmann told dispatchers he thought his wife was dead and that someone had beaten her, WCAU-TV reports.

Seltmann allegedly told police that his kitchen had been ransacked, and his wife sustained a head bleed. Officers subsequently responded to the home on North Keim Road, where they found Seltmann on the porch with “blood on his hands, face, and clothing,” Steele said.

Inside the kitchen, police reportedly found Seltmann’s wife, Margaret Seltmann, dead with apparent head injuries. According to WCAU, investigators recovered a kitchen knife under the victim’s body, and they found pieces of glass from a candle jar.

Barton Seltmann was transported to Pottstown Hospital to treat a hand injury.

Lower Pottsgrove Police and Montgomery County detectives concluded that Margaret and Barton Seltmann were allegedly “arguing about money for veterinary care of their cat when the fight turned physical.”

Barton Seltmann reportedly told investigators that during the dispute, his wife grabbed a knife and threatened to hurt him, so he pushed the legs of a chair into her. According to Steele, investigators found evidence suggesting that the suspect struck the victim multiple times in the head while she was on the kitchen floor.

Seltmann allegedly punched his wife in the head repeatedly even though he said he did not see a knife in her hand while she was on the ground. He reportedly took a candleholder and used it to hit her.

According to the affidavit obtained by WCAU, Seltmann told investigators his wife said, “You’re killing me,” and then she “went to sleep.”

A forensic pathologist determined that the victim died of blunt force injuries and ruled her death a homicide.

Barton Seltmann was arraigned on charges of first-degree murder and third-degree murder. He remains held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.

  • Utah dad accused of leaving infant son in 'scalding' water and causing burns to 40% of his body

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (TCD) — A 41-year-old man was arrested and later released after his son was hospitalized with “severe” burns all over his body, which may result in amputations.

On Nov. 12, a case worker with the Utah Division of Child and Family Services contacted the Utah County Sheriff’s Office to report they were worried about a young child who had been admitted to the University of Utah Burn Center with serious injuries. Detectives went to the burn center, where they determined the boy’s father took him to the hospital the day prior. The 5-month-old reportedly had burns on over 40% of his body.

The Utah County sheriff’s office alleges the injuries occurred while the infant was in a “small bathtub under the care of the father.”

Deputies arrested the child’s father, Matthew Beck, on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

According to the statement, a detective noted in the probable cause affidavit that the “burns were so severe that a large amount of the infant’s skin had sloughed off.”

Beck allegedly waited an hour before getting medical care for his son.

The affidavit cited by KSL.com alleges Beck left his son in the tub while it filled up to the top with hot water and was “almost to the point of spilling over the side.”

The child was reportedly in the water for approximately five minutes, and when Beck took him out, he allegedly saw his son’s skin was “white and peeling off.”

According to the affidavit, Beck allegedly spread Vaseline on his son’s body and put him in cold water to help with the burns. A doctor said the child’s second-degree burns “are expected to progress to third-degree.”

The affidavit reportedly says, “The baby will require skin grafts and his toes may have to be amputated. The burns are from the infant’s feet up to his hips or lower abdomen and the lower half of his left arm.”

A detective went to Beck’s house and learned the water temperature was between 131 and 133 degrees.

KSL.com reports Beck’s wife, who is a nurse, told police he did something similar to another infant, but instead put him in cold water “until he turned blue.” He allegedly did it to “toughen him up.”

The affidavit says, “When confronted about using cold water as a punitive action against another son when he was also an infant, he initially suggested that he did it to improve the child’s circulation. After continued questioning, Matthew admitted that he did this to the infant as a form of punishment.”

The sheriff’s office said Beck was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond but is not allowed to have any contact with the victim or other children in his home.

  • Fla. woman sentenced for killing her mom, gouging her eyes out, and placing them on cardboard box

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) — A judge sentenced a woman to 15 years in prison for violently killing her mother five years ago and cutting her eyes out.

WPTV-TV reports Camille Balla pleaded guilty Monday, Nov. 27, to manslaughter with a weapon. She already has over 2,000 days of time served because she has been in custody since her arrest in 2018, so she will serve less than 10 years in state prison. Jail records show Balla was originally charged with first-degree premeditated murder.

Balla was scheduled to stand trial Friday, Dec. 1.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on March 16, 2018, at 1:40 a.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office received a call from someone who said his co-worker, Balla, needed them to come over because Balla “believed she may have murdered her mother.” The co-worker went to Balla’s residence on Country Club Way in Royal Palm Beach and found her covered in blood, so they called 911.

Deputies arrived and said Balla “appeared frantic.” She reportedly told one of the responding deputies, “I killed my mother and I need help.” She said her mother was in the garage, so the deputy went inside and found “a significant amount of blood spatter throughout the residence.”

The deputy made his way into the garage and discovered Francisca Monteiro-Balla deceased. She was partially clothed with “multiple large lacerations on her body.”

The affidavit says Monteiro-Balla’s eyes had been “removed from her head and placed on a nearby cardboard box.”

The fire department arrived at the scene to aid Balla, who also had lacerations on her body. She reportedly told officials she smoked marijuana but believed it was laced with Flakka, a drug similar to bath salts, or PCP. According to the affidavit, Balla “continuously mumbled, screamed, ran around, and eventually fell to the ground. While on the ground, Balla began to spontaneously scream, ‘I’m a murderer, I’m a murderer!’”

She had cuts on her hands, knees, and fingers, so a deputy transported her to a nearby hospital.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search Balla’s home several hours later. A trail of blood reportedly led from the living room through the kitchen, where the “amount of blood in the trail grew heavier,” and into the garage. Investigators found Monteiro-Balla with “several large, deep lacerations, and traumatic injuries throughout her body including her head, arms, chest, stomach, and groin.”

The affidavit describes, “Both of her eyes had been removed from their sockets. Several feet away from the victim was a cardboard box which had the victim’s eyes on top.”

Detectives noticed broken glass that they believe caused the cuts on Balla’s hands and knee caps. They also found notes with religious messages on them “related to clearing of the soul” as well as paper with marijuana on it.

  • Soros-Tied Facebook Censorship Board Considers Suppressing Anti-Immigration Speech

A few years after Facebook (now Meta) launched a censorship board to decide which posts get blocked an update on the panel, which is currently inviting public opinion on whether to suppress anti-immigration speech, is in order. The original board—as well as new members—is stacked with leftists, including a close friend of leftwing billionaire George Soros who served on the board of directors of his Open Society Foundations (OSF). This is important because the oversight board, as it is officially known, determines which posts get blocked from the world’s most popular social networking website which has an estimated 3 billion users.

In a recent example, the Meta censorship board is considering whether ant-immigration posts fall under its hate speech policy which removes what the tech giant describes as direct attacks against people on the basis of protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin and religious affiliation. Refugees, migrants, immigrants and asylum seekers are protected against “the most severe attacks,” according to the oversight board, though “commentary and criticism of immigration policies” are reportedly allowed. Now the panel wants public comments involving how Meta should distinguish commentary and criticism of immigration policies from direct attacks on people based on protected characteristics, especially during elections. Board members will deliberate the case over the next few weeks, according to a statement posted on the Meta oversight website.

Judicial Watch has gathered some important background on the characters who will ultimately issue the ruling. For starters the group of 22 is overwhelmingly leftist and likely to restrict conservative views. Nearly half of the members have ties to Soros, the wealthy philanthropist who dedicates huge sums to spreading a radical left agenda that includes targeting conservative politicians, erasing national borders and identities, financing civil unrest and orchestrating refugee crises for political gain. Some on the oversight board have made political contributions to top Democrats such as Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren and others have publicly expressed their disdain for former President Donald Trump. Among the panel’s standouts is András Sajó, the founding Dean of Legal Studies at Soros’ Central European University. Sajó was a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for nearly a decade. He also served on the board of directors of OSF’s Justice Initiative.

Many on the board are connected to leftist groups tied to Soros that have benefitted from his generous donations, according to Judicial Watch’s research. Alan Rusbridger, a former British newspaper editor and principal at Oxford University, serves on the board of directors of the Committee to Protect Journalists, which has received at least $750,000 from OSF. Rusbridger also served as a governor at a global thinktank, Ditchley Foundation, that co-hosted a conference with OSF on change in the Middle East and North Africa and understanding political Islam. Afia Asantewaa Sariyev, a human rights attorney, is the program manager at Soros’ Open Society Initiative for West Africa. Sudhir Krishnaswamy, an Indian lawyer and civil society activist, runs a nonprofit called Centre for Law and Policy Research that focuses on transgender rights, gender equality and public health. The group is a grantee of a justice foundation that pocketed $1.4 million from OSF.

The list of Meta judges connected to Soros and the organized left continues. Julie Owono is the executive director of a Paris-based nonprofit that advocates for privacy and freedom of expression online. The group is part of the Global Network Initiative, an internet oversight and policy consortium handsomely funded by Soros. Nighat Dad is a Pakistani attorney and the founder of the Digital Rights Foundation, a nonprofit based in Pakistan that has received $114,000 in grants from OSF. Civil rights activist Tawakkol Karman sits on the advisory board of Transparency International, which gets significant OSF funding. Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Denmark’s former prime minister, is on the board of the European Council of Foreign Relations, which has received millions from OSF. She is also a trustee at the International Crisis Group which has collected over $8.2 million from OSF and includes George and Alexander Soros on its board. Catalina Botero-Marino is the dean of a Colombian law school called Universidad de Los Andes that got over $1.3 million from OSF. Kenji Yoshino, a law professor at New York University, serves on the board of directors of the Brennan Center for Justice, which took in hundreds of thousands of dollars from OSF in 2021. Suzanne Nossel, an Obama administration official, is on the advisory board of the leftwing think tank Foreign Policy for America, which has received over $1.5 million from Soros in the last few years. Khaled Mansour, an Egyptian academic, is a director at the nonprofit Crisis Action, which has accepted $2.4 million from OSF since 2017.

  • Homicide victim who was found on California trail in 1974 is identified

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (TCD) — With the use of investigative genetic genealogy, officials have recently identified a homicide victim 49 years after his body was found near a fire road trail.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, on Sept. 14, 1974, two individuals who were off-roading discovered a man’s body. Authorities determined the victim died three to five days prior due to alcohol and diazepam intoxication and initially declared his death an accident. In a press release from Othram Inc., investigators believed the victim, who was classified as a John Doe, was between 18 and 25 years old at the time of his death.

Officials released information about the victim in the hopes that people would come forward with tips that could help identify him. The Criminal Identification and Investigation Division in Sacramento, the Federal Bureau of Identification, and Canadian authorities received the victim’s fingerprint classification but the results were negative, and they were unable to identify the victim.

Investigators worked for several weeks before the victim was buried as John Doe at El Toro Memorial Park in an unlabeled grave.

The sheriff’s office later learned multiple people died of alcohol and diazepam intoxication around southern California in 1978, and their deaths were ruled as homicides.

According to the sheriff’s office, during that time, authorities located numerous deceased men throughout Orange County and Southern California, including several who were within a few miles of where John Doe’s body was found.

The sheriff’s office said investigators suspected that John Doe may have been an early victim of Randy Steven Kraft, also known as the “Scorecard Killer.” A California Highway Patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Kraft in May 1983 and noticed a deceased male, later identified as Terry Lee Gambrel, in the front passenger seat. According to the sheriff’s office, the officer also observed several empty beer bottles and an open prescription bottle of Lorazepam near his feet.

Kraft allegedly kept a “coded list” in the trunk of his car that named at least 67 of his victims. A jury convicted him in May 1989 of killing 16 people. The sheriff’s office said Kraft allegedly killed 10 other victims, but those crimes have not been filed by the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Kraft is on death row at San Quentin State Prison.

In November 2022, investigators with the sheriff’s office submitted John Doe’s tissue samples to Othram Laboratories. A DNA profile for John Doe was created and shared with the sheriff’s office in February. Officials there uploaded the information into a genealogy database.

Investigators reportedly built John Doe’s family tree and identified his grandparents. The sheriff’s office located a granddaughter, and she told investigators she had not seen her 17-year-old brother since April 1974.

Investigators traveled to Kansas City and collected a DNA sample from John Doe’s potential mother. As a result, officials positively identified the victim as Michael Schlicht of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The sheriff’s office said they have notified the victim’s family members, and they are working to mark Schlicht’s gravestone.

  • Baltimore man's braces rubber bands lead to his arrest for allegedly assaulting elderly woman

BALTIMORE (TCD) — Police arrested a man after linking his orthodonture work to the alleged sexual assault and kidnapping of a 71-year-old woman.

On Nov. 7 at 6:09 p.m., Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 4300 and 4400 blocks of North Franklintown Road and located the female victim who said an unidentified man sexually and physically assaulted her while she was walking along the Gwynns Falls Trail.

Baltimore Police said the suspect “struck up a conversation with her and began to follow her.” Then, he allegedly held onto her and took out his gun. The woman tried to run away, which police said caused a “violent physical assault.”

The woman ultimately fled and found assistance. She reportedly sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Baltimore Police investigators tracked down the suspect, 46-year-old Charles Avon Taylor, and arrested him in Towson. Court records show he is charged with kidnapping, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, use of a dangerous weapon, and a fourth-degree sexual offense.

According to court documents cited by NBC News, the woman was on a walk in Leakin Park at around 3:30 p.m. when Taylor allegedly approached her and brought up the weather. Then, he allegedly told her, “I’ll kill you,” and grabbed her. The victim bit him, but then Taylor reportedly punched her in the face and choked her, which knocked her unconscious.

Taylor purportedly took the woman to a homeless encampment where he lived and bound her to a chair. He allegedly kissed her and put his hands on her breasts. He made her lose consciousness a second time by pressing his forearm on her throat.

The woman told police Taylor had “fits of rage” and she attempted to calm him down.

NBC News reports the victim untied herself after she told Taylor she lost her glasses, which distracted him as he started looking for them. She ran across a creek and an embankment, then “screamed for help.” A driver pulled over and called police.

The woman reportedly led police to the scene and investigators found a “blood-stained rope placed in the seat,” as well as “packets of elastics used for braces.”

A detective reached out to the rubber band manufacturer and found out only one dental office — which was only a few miles from Baltimore — used their brand. Investigators went to the office and showed employees the police sketch of the suspect based on the victim’s description. The office workers reportedly said it looked like Taylor. The victim also reportedly positively identified Taylor.

NBC News reports Taylor went to a psychiatric facility on Nov. 8, but he is now in custody at the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center.
