  • Ohio father accused of throwing 2-week-old son against headboard, causing skull fracture

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TCD) — A 20-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of throwing his 2-week-old son against a headboard, causing critical injuries.

On Friday, Dec. 8, shortly after 1 p.m., the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Children’s Protective Services regarding a 2-week-old baby who had been transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by his mother for a possible eye infection. After further examination, medical staff observed additional injuries, including a skull fracture, mouth injuries, and arm and leg bruising.

The baby was admitted into the hospital, and physicians determined the child’s injuries were “non-accidental and a result of recent trauma.”

Sheriff’s office detectives spoke with the baby’s parents and later learned the victim’s injuries were sustained in their home, which led to detectives obtaining and executing a search warrant.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim’s father, Dezmond Wallace, told detectives he caused the child’s injuries on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 6. Wallace reportedly told investigators he threw his infant son against the headboard of a bed, WCPO-TV reports.

Wallace was booked into the Clermont County Jail on charges of second-degree endangering children and second-degree felonious assault. He appeared in court on Monday, Dec. 11, and his bond was set at $1 million.

The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office may file additional charges pending the investigation.

The sheriff’s office did not disclose the victim’s current condition.

  • N.J. man reportedly found naked on top of his mother’s body with her head several feet away

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (TCD) — Police arrested a 46-year-old man after he reportedly confessed to killing and decapitating his mother.

According to a press release from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Ocean City Police Department, on Friday, Dec. 8, at 3:59 p.m., Jeffrey Surgent called 911 and said he “suffers from mental illness, and he just killed his mother.”

Police officers went to Surgent’s home on the 600 block of 6th Street and found Surgent and his 74-year-old mother’s body. He was taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The statement said Surgent was then transported to a secure medical facility.

Court documents cited by NJ.com say when police arrived, Surgent did not have any clothes on and was on top of his mother’s body in a hallway outside his apartment. Her head was reportedly a few feet from the rest of her body. Surgent allegedly started yelling and apologizing for killing his mother.

The affidavit reportedly says Surgent tossed his mother’s head outside the door. Then, he was “seen peeking out from the apartment, then pulling his mother’s body into the hallway. He is nude and proceeds to lay on top of her until patrol arrives.”

He’s in custody at the Cape May County Jail without bond.

  • Alabama man allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend’s teen daughter during physical altercation

DOTHAN, Ala. (TCD) — A 54-year-old man stands accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter during a fight over the weekend.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, shortly before 1 p.m., the Dothan Police Department responded to a home on Sedona Lane to a report of “suspicious circumstances.” Once inside, police found a female victim, identified by WDHN-TV as Duong Thi Thuy Troung, who was unresponsive “from what appeared to be the result of a physical altercation.”

First responders performed medical aid before transporting the victim to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Police said the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will determine Troung’s cause and manner of death.

Police charged Minh Nguyen on suspicion of her murder. According to WDHN, the victim was the daughter of Nguyen’s ex-girlfriend.

Nguyen reportedly worked with his ex-girlfriend at a nail salon in the neighborhood, but officials said his motive is unclear at the moment. Dothan Police Lt. Ronald Hall told WDHN there had been “conflicts” between Troung and Nguyen in the past, but nothing has ever been “physical in nature.”

Hall said investigators are working to determine what “led up to the physical aspect of this on that particular day.”

Nguyen remains held in the Houston County Jail without bond.

  • One-in-Five Mail-In Voters Admit to Committing at Least One Kind of Voter Fraud During 2020 Election: Poll

This post originally appeared at Heartland.org. It was researched by Justin Haskins, Christopher Talgo, Donald Kendal, Jack McPherrin, James Taylor, and Jim Lakely.

    • 17% of mail-in voters admit that in 2020 they voted in a state where they are “no longer a permanent resident”
    • 21% of mail-in voters admitted that they filled out a ballot for a friend or family member
    • 17% of mail-in voters said they signed a ballot for a friend or family member “with or without his or her permission”
    • 8% of likely voters say they were offered “pay” or a “reward” for voting in 2020
Taken together, the results of these survey questions appear to show that voter fraud was widespread in the 2020 election, especially among those who cast mail-in ballots.

A new poll by The Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports found one-in-five voters who cast mail-in ballots during the 2020 presidential election admit to participating in at least one kind of voter fraud.

When asked, “During the 2020 election, did you fill out a ballot, in part or in full, on behalf of a friend or family member, such as a spouse or child?”, 21% of respondents who said they voted by mail answered “yes.” (Filling out a ballot for someone else is illegal in all states, although many states allow people to assist others with voting.)

Additionally, 17% of mail-in voters said they voted “in a state where you were no longer a permanent resident.” Seventeen percent of mail-in voters also admitted to signing a “ballot or ballot envelope on behalf of a friend or family member.” (Both voting in a state where you are no longer a permanent resident and forging a signature on a ballot or ballot envelope are fraudulent activities that invalidate votes, when caught by election officials.)

According to election data, more than 43 percent of 2020 voters cast ballots by mail, the highest percentage in U.S. history.

Further, 10% of all respondents — not just those who said they voted by mail — claimed that they know “a friend, family member, co-worker, or other acquaintance who has admitted … that he or she cast a mail-in ballot in 2020 in a state other than his or her state of permanent residence.”

Eight percent of all respondents said “a friend, family member, or organization, such as a political party” offered them “pay” or a “reward” for agreeing to vote in the 2020 election.

Taken together, the results of these survey questions appear to show that voter fraud was widespread in the 2020 election, especially among those who cast mail-in ballots.

The poll of 1,085 likely voters was conducted from November 30 to December 6, 2023. Among those surveyed in the poll, 33% were Republicans, 36% were Democrats, and 31% were “other”; 32% were 18-39 years old, 46% were 40-64 years old, and 22% were 65 or older.

“The results of this survey are nothing short of stunning. For the past three years, Americans have repeatedly been told that the 2020 election was the most secure in history. But if this poll’s findings are reflective of reality, the exact opposite is true. This conclusion isn’t based on conspiracy theories or suspect evidence, but rather from the responses made directly by the voters themselves.

“A democratic republic cannot survive if election laws allow voters to commit fraud easily, and that’s exactly what occurred during the 2020 election. Although some progress has been made in more than a dozen states since the conclusion of the 2020 election, much more work is needed in most regions of the United States. If America’s election laws do not improve soon, voters and politicians will continue to question the truthfulness and fairness of all future elections.”

“The 2020 election was unlike any other in history as tens of millions of Americans voted by mail due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, many experts warned that massive mail-in voting could result in widespread voter fraud. Unfortunately, these concerns were prophetic, as the results of this poll clearly show that a large number of voters did indeed fraudulently cast ballots in the 2020 election.

“The past few presidential elections have been razor-thin, and signs point to 2024 being another closely contested election. It is paramount that the American people have the utmost confidence that all elections are free and fair, and bereft of voter fraud as much as possible. Therefore, states should ensure their voter rolls are up-to-date and accurate, encourage in-person voting, and implement commonsense measures to reduce the potential for mail-in voting fraud.”

  • Ind. parents sentenced for sexually abusing and exploiting their infant

INDIANAPOLIS (TCD) — Two 27-year-olds were sentenced to 90 years in prison combined for sexually abusing and sharing explicit images of their child on social media platforms.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, Tristan Mullins and Desley McLemore were in an on-again, off-again relationship for about three years and had a child together, who was born in June 2020. McLemore had primary custody of the child, but Mullins “had periodic visits with the baby” at his house and McLemore’s.

About a year and a half after the child was born, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said they sexually abused the infant and created more than 98 videos showing sexually explicit content. A month later, Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers obtained a tip from Google that the two had been sharing the videos online. They were “immediately” arrested.

The statement said Mullins and McLemore confessed to sharing the videos and other material on Kik, Snapchat, Facebook, and pornography websites. Mullins reportedly “wrote extremely graphic and crude captions and commentary for the videos he sent to others.”

The two pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, sexual exploitation of a child by a parent or guardian, and transportation of child sexual abuse material.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Mullins must serve 60 years in prison with 15 years of supervised release, while McLemore was sentenced to 30 years in prison and will have supervised release for life.

U.S. Attorney Zachary Myers said, “Babies are precious and vulnerable, and most parents have an instinctual desire to protect them from harm. Tristan Mullins and Desley McLemore instead chose to exploit their baby in the most cruel and unimaginable ways before she was even old enough to walk or speak.”

  • Nebraska priest fatally stabbed inside church rectory

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Neb. (TCD) — A man was arrested after a priest was found fatally stabbed in his church early Sunday morning.

On Dec. 10 at 5:05 a.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding an attempted break-in at the St. John’s Catholic Church rectory. Deputies responded to the scene within minutes and found a male suspect inside the rectory, as well as Father Stephen Gutgsell suffering from apparent stab wounds. Medics transported Gutgsell to University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Deputies arrested the suspect, Kierre Williams, on charges of homicide and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

The Archdiocese of Omaha said Gutgsell was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1984 and served the church for nearly 40 years.

According to WOWT-TV, Gutgsell previously pleaded guilty to embezzling over $100,000 from his church. Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson, however, does not think the killing has anything to do with the previous financial charges.

  • Judicial Watch: Secret Service Records Disclose Agency Boats Inoperable for Obama Chef Drowning Emergency – Agency Discloses More Information About Drowning Death Eyewitness

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it received 31 pages of records in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit from the Department of Homeland Security that show the identity of the companion of Obama’s chef Tafari Campbell as a woman named “Ms. Taylor,” who reported that “[Campbell] fell in the water and struggled for a couple of seconds before giving up and sinking underwater.”

The records also show that the Secret Service could not get the first two boats they tried to use to search for Campbell to function and had to use the groundskeeper’s boat. Also, at least one, and possibly multiple, agents from the Secret Service’s Little Rock, Ark., office were involved in the search for Campbell’s body.

The records were obtained in response to an October 25, 2023, FOIA lawsuit against the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after it failed to respond to an August request for Secret Service video recordings and other records relating to the death of the Obamas’ personal chef, Tafari Campbell, in July 2023 in the Edgartown Great Pond behind the Obamas’ estate on Martha’s Vineyard (Judicial Watch Inc. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:23-cv-03194)).

The records include a July 24 report from a Secret Service agent whose name is redacted that reveals the interview details – including the name – of Campbell’s paddleboarding companion: “Ms. Taylor stated that Mr. Campbell was not wearing a life jacket and had no personal flotation devices aboard the paddleboard at the time of the incident.”

A separate report notes how Campbell’s companion “collapsed on the ground and stated that Tafari had drowned. She stated that he fell in the water and struggled for a couple of seconds before giving up and sinking underwater.” The agent continued, describing how a supervisory agent and another agent “attempted to start one of the boats but had difficulties lowering the motor. I headed down with [redacted] but told her to continue down and yelled to SA [redacted] and SSA [redacted] that I would run to get the keys for our USSS boat. I sprinted to the CP [Command Post], grabbed the keys and sprinted back towards the boats. A similar issue occurred with the motor on the second boat. We jumped into a third boat belonging to the groundskeeper and it worked without issue.”

The same report notes former President Obama came to the incident scene and the search was paused so President Obama could speak to the eyewitness:

We continued our search with flashlights. Shortly thereafter we were called to Wilson’s Landing as FPOTUS Obama was there and the local Fire Department in conjunction with Massachusetts Police Department and other local agencies were setting up an Incident Command Post. He had wanted to talk with [redacted]. The first EMS/Police response we saw may have occurred within an hour. I recall seeing a small PD or Fire boat scanning the shoreline just after it was getting dark.

“It is disturbing that Secret Service boats did not work for this emergency situation,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This new information perhaps explains why the Secret Service is still hiding video related to the tragic drowning.”

In October, Judicial Watch received 40 pages of records from the Massachusetts State Police that indicate the presence of Barack Obama for a witness interview in the death investigation. The records, which are heavily redacted, indicate Barack Obama arrived at the emergency response scene via motorcade. A short time later, a cold, wet woman, who was a witness, arrived. The next morning, the eyewitness was interviewed in the Obama residence, seemingly with Barack Obama again present. The records also detail the existence of a Secret Service video of Campbell and his paddleboarding companion entering the water, and the Secret Service emergency response in the immediate aftermath of the drowning. The State Police records show they concluded “no foul play” in Campbell’s “accidental” death.

In August 2023, Judicial Watch released records it received from the Edgarton, Mass., Police Department that show the Secret Service reported Campbell missing and that the body was found using sonar. The records also detail that clothing was found separate from the body and that he was not wearing a life vest.

  • Texas man arrested after 16-year-old’s mother finds her dead in bathtub

EDNA, Texas (TCD) — Police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old cheerleader was found dead in an apartment bathtub last week.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6:57 p.m., Edna Police Department officers were called to the Cottonwood Apartments regarding an unresponsive juvenile female. When they arrived, they “believed the juvenile to be deceased.” EMS responded and she was officially pronounced dead by the 1st District Justice of the Peace.

Edna Police Department investigators contacted the Texas Rangers for assistance in the investigation in what they believe is a capital murder.

Edna Police identified the victim as Lizabeth Medina. On Dec. 9, police announced they arrested Rafael Romero on a charge of capital murder. Detectives reportedly tracked him to a residence in Schulenburg and the homeowners confirmed he was inside. Officials took him into custody and seized his vehicle and other evidence that allegedly connected him to Medina’s killing.

KPRC-TV reports on Tuesday, Medina’s mother went to a local Christmas parade to watch her daughter perform, but she wasn’t there. She went home to her apartment and found Medina deceased inside the bathtub.

Medina’s mother, Jacqueline Medina, told KPRC, “I wanted to protect her from the world. And I’m just enraged that I couldn’t protect her in her own home.”

  • South Carolina father and son allegedly tracked neighbor and fatally shot him during confrontation

LEXINGTON, S.C. (TCD) — A father faces a murder charge after allegedly telling his son to shoot their 36-year-old neighbor during a confrontation about a trespassing incident last week.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office alleges the fatal shooting took place on Wednesday, Dec. 6, on Seleta Circle. According to the statement, Ryan Jordan Sr. took a machete away from their neighbor and then told his son, Ryan Lindler Jr., to shoot the man.

The Lexington County Coroner positively identified the victim as Kevin Newhouse.

Further investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between the Lindlers and Newhouse. According to the sheriff’s office, the men reportedly fought about a “trespassing incident they said happened just before at another address.”

According to arrest warrants obtained by the Lexington County Chronicle, after the trespassing incident, the Lindlers tracked Newhouse to his home, where Newhouse allegedly pulled out a machete and swung it toward them. Before the shooting, the sheriff’s office alleges the Lindlers “prevented Newhouse from going back into his house.”

Lindler Jr. reportedly told officials his dad was hit with the machete, and then he took out his handgun and shot the victim.

Other individuals reportedly came out of the woods, so the Lindlers left, and Lindler Jr. called 911.

According to the Lexington Chronicle, Lindler Jr. told deputies the handgun and machete were in his vehicle. Officials found a six-round Glock magazine in his possession with multiple rounds.

Deputes apprehended Lindler Sr. and Lindler Jr. and booked them into the Lexington County Detention Center. They were each charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and remain held without bond.
