  • Missouri police believe 6 people who have been missing since August could be in cult

BERKELEY, Mo. (TCD) — Police reportedly have reason to believe that four adults and two children missing from the St. Louis area could be affiliated with a convicted felon’s alleged cult.

According to KSDK-TV, Berkeley Police Department investigators suspect the six missing victims are followers of Rashad Jamal, a social media influencer who is currently in prison in Georgia for child molestation and other crimes.

In August, Ma’Kayla Wickerson and her 3-year-old daughter Malaiyah Wickerson left their home in St. Louis County and disappeared. Two others, Gerrielle German and her 3-year-old child, Ashton Mitchell, went missing from Mississippi. Twenty-five-year-old Mikayla Thompson and 30-year-old Naaman Williams are also believed to be in the alleged cult.

KTVI-TV reports the six of them were reportedly last known to be living in Wickerson’s house close to the St. Louis International Airport prior to their disappearance in August. Wickerson’s mother, Cartisha Morgan, told KTVI her daughter quit her job and ran all her credit cards up to the limit not long before she vanished.

She said, “Mental illness is real. Manipulation is real.”

Berkeley Police Maj. Steve Runge told KTVI neighbors saw the six “worshipping the sun” in the yard on a daily basis. If it rained, they “would come outside naked and run around the yard. They were digging up things in the yard.”

According to KFVS-TV, Jamal, whose real name is Rashad White, founded The College of Cosmic Intelligence, which is reportedly a religious group he created online.

Runge said, “Everything’s on the internet now, so why not have a cult on the internet?”

Big Tech, Big Government, Big Brother: Washington’s War on Free Speech

An unprecedented assault on free speech is underway in America. The White House and government agencies play central roles. But because this new war largely takes place in the shadows of cyber-space, unfolding in back offices of social media giants like Facebook, YouTube, Google, TikTok and Twitter, the public has been slow to catch on to the threat.

ICE Data Show Major Drop in Arrests, Removals of Criminal Illegal Immigrants under Biden

Besides welcoming record amounts of illegal immigrants into the United States, the Biden administration further compromises national security by arresting and deporting “significantly fewer criminal aliens than the Trump administration,” according to government records obtained by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). In a troubling report published this week the nonpartisan research organization analyzes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) criminal data from the first three years of the Trump administration and the first three years of Biden’s presidency and the results are incredibly worrisome.

  • Pa. man caught 10 years after he allegedly robbed and killed man, tied up family, and raped victim’s girlfriend

HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (TCD) — Investigators arrested a man a decade after he and another suspect allegedly broke into the victim’s home, stole his money and guns, tied up his family, and sexually assaulted his girlfriend.

In a statement, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced 50-year-old Thomas Delgado was taken into custody Wednesday, Jan. 10, and appeared in court on charges of criminal homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and other related charges in connection with Joseph Canazaro’s death.

The arrest came almost exactly 10 years to the day of the incident. On Jan. 18, 2013, at approximately 10 a.m., Delgado and another man allegedly entered Canazaro’s residence on the 300 block of Swartley Road and bound Canazaro’s girlfriend and his 12-year-old son before they “ransacked” the house. The district attorney’s office alleges Delgado also raped Canazaro’s girlfriend.

The woman and Canazaro’s son escaped and called police. Hilltown Township Police arrived at the home and found Canazaro deceased inside the garage with multiple stab wounds.

Delgado and the other suspect reportedly stole Canazaro’s truck, which investigators later found at a mall.

According to NBC Philadelphia, detectives located a pair of gardening gloves close to the abandoned truck, so they sent the evidence to the FBI lab for DNA analysis. The results came back as belonging to an unknown male.

Officials searched Canazaro’s home and reportedly found 11 cellphones, only eight of which worked.

In 2019, detectives began looking evidence in the stolen pickup truck and found a black mask that allegedly had Delgado’s DNA on it. In late 2022, Bucks County detectives managed to open up 10 of the 11 cellphones from Canazaro’s home and found communication between Canazaro and Delgado. Between August and December 2011, the men made contact six times. On another phone, the two allegedly connected 40 times between June and November 2011.

Delgado was booked into the Bucks County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

  • Ore. man accused of killing 2 men 20 years apart pleads guilty to 1 of the deaths

PORTLAND, Ore. (TCD) — A man suspected in the deaths of two men nearly 20 years apart pleaded guilty last week to killing a man whose body has still not been found.

Multnomah County court records show Christopher Lovrien entered the plea for manslaughter on Friday, Jan. 12, in connection with Mark Dribin’s 1999 death. His jury trial was scheduled to begin in February. He is still facing second-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and firearm-related charges for allegedly killing and dismembering Kenneth Griffin in 2020.

The Oregonian/Oregon Live reports a judge sentenced Lovrien to 20 years.

Dribin was reported missing July 6, 1999, after he did not show up to work at United Airlines. He was last seen July 1, 1999. Portland Police said at the time Dribin’s disappearance was deemed suspicious and investigators suspected foul play could be involved. About 2 1/2 weeks later, on July 18, 1999, police located his car in southeast Portland.

As detectives investigated Dribin’s disappearance, they reportedly uncovered an unknown male’s DNA inside his car and home. Eventually, however, the case went cold. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office issued a death certificate for Dribin in August 2000.

The Portland Police Bureau Cold Case Homicide Detail reopened Dribin’s case in March 2019 and submitted a DNA sample for additional testing. In September 2019, police identified Lovrien as a potential suspect in Dribin’s disappearance and death. Two months later, detectives interviewed him.

Then, on Feb. 2, 2020, Kenneth Griffin was reported missing after he was last seen alive the day prior. On April 16, 2020, police obtained a warrant to collect Lovrien’s DNA, and two weeks later, on April 30, 2020, he was charged with Dribin’s murder. The U.S. Marshals arrested Lovrien on May 4, 2020.

Portland Police detectives executed a search warrant at Lovrien’s residence later that month and discovered Griffin’s dismembered body inside a shed on his property. They also allegedly discovered six firearms at his home. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office indicted him again in March 2021 for murder and abuse of a corpse.

According to the district attorney’s office, investigators reportedly believe “both killings to be stranger-related, as there is no known connection between Lovrien, Dribin, or Griffin.”

Officials also suspect there could be additional victims.

  • NYC dad sentenced for smothering 7-week-old son to death because he was crying

NEW YORK (TCD) — A 31-year-old Bronx man was sentenced to up to a decade in prison for smothering his newborn son with a pillow because he kept crying.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office announced a judge ordered Teshawn Watkins to spend five to 10 years behind bars, plus five years of post-release supervision for the death of 7-week-old Kaseem Watkins. Teshawn Watkins pleaded guilty in December to second-degree manslaughter. He also entered a plea for third-degree assault because he punched the child’s mother, his girlfriend, during her pregnancy.

The woman reportedly refused to testify against Watkins during his trial.

Watkins was initially charged in March 2020 with two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, second-degree manslaughter, two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree attempted assault, endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree assault.

On Jan. 29, 2020, Watkins was at the apartment he shared with his girlfriend and their three children, and Kaseem Watkins began crying. The district attorney’s office said Watkins “became irate with the baby’s crying and placed pillows on the infant, blocking his nose and mouth.”

Watkins reportedly went to sleep, but when he woke up, he noticed the infant was unresponsive. Watkins’ girlfriend called 911 and the baby was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The autopsy report showed the child died from asphyxia due to smothering.

According to the statement, Watkins put pillows on his son’s head at least one other time between Dec. 9, 2019, and Jan. 29, 2020. Baby monitor video reportedly showed him “grabbing Kaseem by the head and spinning his head, causing the child’s body to flail into the air, and then covering the baby with pillows.”

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said following the sentencing, “This child had barely begun his life when his father cruelly ended it, placing pillows on top of the tiny boy until he couldn’t breathe.”

  • Kentucky mother, boyfriend accused of causing fatal blunt force injuries to 5-year-old girl

WURTLAND, Ky. (TCD) — A couple is in custody nearly half a year after a 5-year-old child was found dead in their home.

On June 17, 2023, the Kentucky State Police responded to a call regarding the suspicious death of a 5-year-old child, identified by the Daily Independent as Aubrey Stowers, at 501 Oak St. During their investigation, detectives obtained evidence they allege connected Rachel Waddell, and her boyfriend, Christopher Stiltner, to the child’s death. Investigators presented the case to a grand jury, which returned an indictment for murder charges on Jan. 11.

Detectives apprehended the couple at their home, and they were booked into the Greenup County Detention Center.

According to the indictment reviewed by WSAZ-TV, the pair engaged in “conduct which created a grave risk of death to another person and thereby caused the death of a 5-year-old child due to multiple blunt force injuries.”

Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Shane Goodall reportedly said investigators are waiting for additional tests to come back regarding Stowers’ death.

According to her obituary, Stowers was a “happy, sassy little 5-year-old who loved her siblings, loved riding her bike, enjoyed listening to music, and cuddling up and sleeping with her bulldog Diesel.”

  • Md. man gets life for stabbing mother to death and dumping her body in marsh

TRACYS LANDING, Md. (TCD) — A 26-year-old man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing his mother, a cybersecurity executive, in 2021.

A judge sentenced Andrew Beavers on Thursday, Jan. 11, to life in prison for the first-degree murder of his mother, Juanita Koilpillai, the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office announced. A jury convicted him of the charge, as well as a weapons offense, following a weeklong trial in August 2023.

According to an initial press release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, on Sunday, July 25, 2021, shortly before 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Genoa Road in reference to a missing person. At the scene, Koilpillai’s boyfriend told police he hadn’t seen his girlfriend, and he noticed blood inside the home.

The state’s attorney’s office said officers followed the trail of blood from the master bedroom to a marshy area on the property, where they discovered Koilpillai’s body covered in grass and other debris. An autopsy showed the victim died of multiple stab wounds, and officials ruled her death a homicide.

According to the state’s attorney’s office, Koilpillai sustained 65 defense injuries and 38 cutting and stab wounds in total.

A witness reportedly told investigators the victim’s son, Andrew Beavers, had previously assaulted his mother, and he would often drive her car, which was missing from the property. Police found the vehicle in Leesburg, Virginia, the next day.

During the investigation, police noticed a fresh laceration on Beavers’ right hand, and he refused to explain the injury. Officials also found his DNA on the weapon used in his mother’s slaying.

Police concluded Beavers killed his mother, hid her body on the property, and then fled to Leesburg, Virginia, where he was arrested on July 31, 2021.

In addition to the life sentence, Beavers was given three years for the weapons offense, which will be served concurrently.

State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in a statement, “His mother provided him with a place to live, a vehicle to drive, and only wanted the best for her son. This sentence holds him accountable for his actions and provides justice for Juanita’s family and loved ones.”

  • Houston woman allegedly fatally strangled missing teen girlfriend during fight about STD

HOUSTON (TCD) — Police arrested a woman this week on suspicion of strangling her teen girlfriend to death and dumping her body near a bayou.

The Houston Police Department said Harris County deputies, patrol officers, and investigators found a female body, later identified as 18-year-old Tierra Horn, at 1900 Nance St. on Friday, Jan. 5, at around 5:40 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

KRIV-TV reports an autopsy showed Horn died due to compression to the neck.

Horn’s family reportedly hadn’t seen or heard from her since Jan. 2, and they reported her missing on Jan. 4, a day before police made the discovery.

Court records reviewed by KPRC-TV allege Horn and her girlfriend, Shania Turner, got into a fight. Turner believed Horn gave her a sexually transmitted disease, and then she allegedly strangled Horn and dumped her remains on the Buffalo Bayou Trail, where the body was found.

Police arrested Turner on Thursday, Jan. 11, and booked her into the Harris County Jail on a charge of murder.
