It seems like this summer, Manchester United are focusing just as much on their academy as they are on the senior squad. With news of Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone joining the Red Devils, United are signing hot prospect after hot prospect, not to mention the exciting players already in the academy.
Early on this summer, United made three very quick signings to the academy in the form of Silva Mexes, James Overy and Cameron Mpofu. These three quick signings set the tone of the transfer window to show that the academy was just as important under the new Ratcliffe regime as the senior squad.
Now, United have brought in another exciting young player on trial to potential join the ranks of future United stars.
Manchester United Youth have confirmed that 15-year-old Caleb Sweeney has joined the academy from Larne FC on a trial basis. The defensive midfielder is a truly impressive talent already, capable of using both feet exceptionally well.
The Northern Irish youngster already has some impressive highlights at no6 from The Secret Scout, available to see below, which shows of the skill he possesses already.
Sweeney has a great ability to intercept, tackle, control the ball and pick a pass are clear to see, not to mention his good positioning and awareness.
