LBW Community College is proud to announce Tony Norris as the inaugural head coach of the Saints flag football team. With extensive coaching experience and a passion for student-athlete success, Norris will lead the college’s newly established women’s flag football program, set to begin competition in fall 2025.
LBW was among the first colleges in Alabama to announce the addition of women’s flag football, demonstrating its commitment to expanding athletic opportunities for student-athletes. The program is a sanctioned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) sport within the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC).
Coach Norris brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as Assistant Football Coach at Andalusia High School and Greenville High School, as well as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at McKenzie High School. His leadership has been instrumental in building successful programs, mentoring student-athletes, and fostering a competitive team culture.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Norris as the first-ever head coach of our flag football program,” said Steve Helms, LBW Athletic Director. “His extensive coaching background and dedication to student-athlete development make him the perfect fit to launch and lead this historic program.”
Norris holds a Master of Education in instructional leadership from the University of West Alabama. In addition to football, he has coached basketball and baseball, showcasing his versatility in athletics.
“I’m honored to be part of this groundbreaking moment for LBW athletics,” said Norris. “Flag football is rapidly growing, and I’m excited to build a strong, competitive program from the ground up. I look forward to developing our student-athletes and making an impact both on and off the field.”
The addition of women’s flag football aligns with the college’s vision to enhance athletic offerings and provide new opportunities for student athletes. As excitement builds toward the fall 2025 season, recruitment efforts are already underway to assemble the inaugural Saints team.
