NetherRealm Studios developers are taking us on a deeper dive than ever before into Mortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns update in what may be the longest Kombat Kast to date.
Wednesday’s Khaos Reigns launch trailer offered an exciting look at a ton of upcoming content, including new characters, story mode chapters, and more. Today we’ll be digging into the finer details.
A whopping three new characters will be available when the update launches on September 24: Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot. We’ve seen NRS’ Stephanie Brownback breakdown both of the cyborgs, but Noob Saibot and his expansive move set have yet to be put under the spotlight in this way.
We suspect a Noob showcase will take up a good chunk of today’s presentation, but what exactly is going to make this Kombat Kast last longer than usual? Khaos Reigns is bringing back Animalities for the first time since the days of Mortal Kombat 3, so perhaps developers will reveal more of these nostalgic kill moves and talk about the process of bringing them back.
Outside of a character model presentation and Wednesday’s Ghostface Fatality we haven’t seen all that much of the second half of this season of DLC fighters: Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and the T-1000. Perhaps the developers will talk about or even show some additional content for these guest characters.
