Tinubu Sweating To Make Nigerians Smile – Lagos Speaker Obasa

December 14, 2024
Mudashiru-Obasa

As Nigerians continue to grapple with economic challenges, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that President Bola Tinubu is committed to improving their lives.

Obasa acknowledged that 2024 has been a particularly challenging year due to the nation’s economic situation.

However, he emphasized that Tinubu is working tirelessly to address these challenges and restore economic stability.

The Speaker made these remarks on Friday night during the Assembly’s 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service.

He said, “The outgoing year is indeed a challenging one, especially considering the economic situation of the country.

“Nevertheless, we have solace in the fact that the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is not leaving any stone unturned to bring us to our promised land.

“Mr. President is busy doing everything possible to put smiles on our faces. Trust me, succour is coming. I urge us to keep the hope alive.”

Obasa encouraged Nigerians to approach 2025 with renewed passion and vigour, emphasizing that the nation has many reasons to be grateful to God for His mercy, love, and faithfulness.

“In times like these, when the world can seem overwhelming and uncertain, it is crucial to remember the enduring message of mercy and grace that is ever-present in our lives,” he said.

Since the removal of petrol subsidies and the floating of the naira by the Tinubu-led government in 2023, many Nigerians have struggled to cope with the economic hardships resulting from these reforms.

Transportation costs and food prices have risen astronomically. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s headline inflation rate increased to 33.88 per cent in October, up from 32.7 per cent in September.

Additionally, food inflation climbed to 39.16 per cent year-on-year in October, compared to 37.77 in the previous month.
