Tinubu Replaces New Almajiri Commission CEO Days After Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has made adjustments to his recent appointments at the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education, barely days after the initial announcement.

Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd), who was initially appointed as Executive Secretary/CEO on March 15, will now serve as Chairman of the Board of the Commission.

Taking over as Executive Secretary/CEO is Dr. Idris Muhammad Sani, who holds master’s and doctorate degrees in Islamic Studies.

He has previously served as Director-General of Al-Iman School Lafia, Commissioner of Basic/Secondary Education in Yobe State, and Chairman of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village in Borno State, among other roles.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new leadership team will bring their “vast experience into the management of this critical Commission” which impact core societal issues.

The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education is tasked with addressing the issues surrounding Nigeria’s over 10 million out-of-school children, many of whom are part of the Almajiri system of informal Islamic education in the northern part of the country.
