President Bola Tinubu, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, announced on Wednesday that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled for the day would be postponed.
A new date for the meeting will be communicated at a later time.
The delay was confirmed through a statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The meeting, originally set for Wednesday, was rescheduled in memory of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night. General Lagbaja had been serving as the Chief of Army Staff since June 19, 2023, until his death on November 5, 2024.

In addition to the FEC postponement, President Tinubu directed that flags across the country be flown at half-staff for seven days in honor of the late military leader.
Earlier in the day, the President expressed his deep condolences to the family of General Lagbaja and to the Nigerian Armed Forces. He praised the late Army Chief for his significant contributions to the country and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
