Although the world of Tekken appears fairly grounded at first glance, looking any further than that will reveal fighters from literally all walks of life… or straight up demons, angels, robots, animals, and boxing dinosaurs.
With the release date of Tekken 8 rapidly approaching, Matt McMuscles put together a fun new tier list ranking every single playable character that’s ever been in Tekken.
This is obviously a pretty much subjective list with tiers ranking from Punching Bags and Jobbers up to the near cream of the crop CEO of Mishima Inc. and actual top rank of King of Iron Fist with more steps in between — and Matt explaining what they all mean to him before getting into the individual picks.
These placements not only take into account a fighter’s presumed strength / power level but also their importance to the story and accomplishments therein as well as personal preference, so someone like Alex isn’t going to be very high.
He also hits us with some funny anecdotes like how he apparently wrote some Tekken 3 fan fiction back in the day because he thinks Devil Jin is so cool.
With so many characters to go through, there’s probably going to be at least a handful of hot takes here like having Lei and Julia in the same category as Lucky Chloe or the new Kunimitsu above the original, but to each their own.
