Seattle Police are currently investigating three violent incidents that occurred across different neighborhoods over the past few weeks, resulting in two homicides and one assault with unlawful imprisonment.
The first incident took place on August 10th in the Olympic Hills neighborhood of North Seattle. Officers responded to a welfare check at approximately 10:22 a.m. in the 3000 block of Northeast 133rd Street. Upon arrival, the Seattle Fire Department discovered a deceased woman inside a residence. The scene was immediately secured, and detectives from the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units began their inquiry. Although the exact cause of death has not been determined, a 25-year-old suspect was located and arrested the following day. He has been booked into King County Jail on charges of Investigation of Assault and Investigation of Homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident on July 23rd in South Seattle, police arrested a 45-year-old man for unlawful imprisonment and assault. At around 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible auto theft involving a knife in the 3900 block of South Othello Street. Officers quickly located the suspect, who was armed with a three-and-a-half-inch knife. The investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim, a 34-year-old man, were acquaintances. The victim reported that after picking up the suspect to hang out, he was held at knifepoint and forced to drive to a nearby bank. The victim managed to escape and sustained a minor injury to his hand, likely inflicted during a defensive struggle. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail on charges of Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault, with bail set at $100,000. The case is being handled by the Homicide and Assault Unit.
The most recent incident occurred on August 13th in the View Ridge neighborhood, also in North Seattle. Despite lifesaving efforts by both officers and the Seattle Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two suspects fled the area in a vehicle and have not yet been apprehended.
