Whether you enjoy the outdoors physically or vicariously, this weekend brings a range of experiences — so many that it was hard to winnow the list to three.
Nonetheless, this feature highlights three things, not four or five or more, so here’s a trio of events for your consideration.
If you’re craving more options, check our calendar at chicoer.com/events.
Film fest
The Banff Mountain Film Festival’s world tour returns to Chico with screenings tonight (April 4) and Saturday evening at Laxson Auditorium.
What exactly might you see? Let’s go to the source: Chico Performances describes the cinematic works as “films that offer up stories of remote journeys, groundbreaking expeditions, and cutting-edge adventures told through the eyes of photographers, filmmakers, and explorers from around the globe.”
Each session starts with a Party on the Patio at 6 p.m. with live music and food trucks; the projector starts rolling at 7:30.

Nature fest
“Always the first Saturday in April” — that’s easy to remember! At least it is for aficionados of the Wildflower & Nature Festival in Oroville; for everyone else, here’s a 17th annual reminder.
The event takes place Saturday (of course) at Riverbend Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organized by the Feather River Recreation and Park District, it encompasses music, crafts, food trucks, a beer garden and kayak tours of the Feather River.

Bee fest
Over in Orland, bees and BMWs (other makes, too) share the spotlight Saturday at Honey & Hot Rods for what the Honey Bee Discovery Center calls “a buzzing good time.”
Make your way toward Fourth Street between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to marvel at classic cars and learn about all that the humble honeybee does for agriculture in the north state and beyond. Other offerings: sweet treats, musical performances and kid-focused activities.
