Three soldiers of Sector 3 operating under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have been killed during a raid in the Kukawa and Monguno areas of Borno State.
The MNJTF disclosed this in a statement, signed by its spokesperson, Lieu.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba on Monday.
The troops, however, killed no fewer than five terrorists during the operation.
The MNJTF disclosed that ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists had launched an offensive using suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) before they were intercepted by the MNJTF Troops.
“Following intense air cum artillery bombardments and ground assault, 5 terrorists were neutralized, while several others fled with gunshot wounds,” the MNJTF said.
Osoba noted that during the operation, the troops recovered 40 motorbikes equipped with assorted weapons, four anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade.
“This bold operation underscores the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the people in the Lake Chad region,” the statement said.
