A fresh report from The Telegraph reports that Brentford manager Thomas Frank has emerged as a strong contender for the Manchester United managerial position.
According to the report, Frank’s work at Brentford has impressed Old Trafford hierarchy and should they decide to part with ten Hag, Frank makes a strong case for his replacement.
He also has an existing relationship with some of the top brass at United in particular INEOS’ director of sport Sir David Brailsford, most notably being invited to the executive’s 60th birthday party a few months ago.
INEOS have already began building a proper footballing structure having appointing top executives in Jason Wilcox for technical director, Omar Berrada as CEO and incoming sporting director in Dan Ashworth.
What this means is whoever will be in charge of United will be more of a ‘head coach’ than a manager reporting to the newly appointed executives.
The Danish tactician is more of manager at Brentford but were he to be appointed, he would solely take charge of the team with Wilcox and Ashworth handling other matters like recruitment.
Under Frank, Brentford have developed into one of the most productive data-driven organizations, something that has seen him gain interest all over England.
He signed a new contract tying him to The Bees till 2027.
