Video game mods can be a beautiful thing. While some PC savvy folks out there use mods to create strange additions to our favorite fighting games or reshape a game’s mechanics, others add characters to titles that would likely never make the cut which can lead to some incredible dream match ups.
What we have here today is a mod for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that brings Street Fighter 3’s Dudley, easily the best boxer in all of fighting games and video games in general (I’m totally not biased, I swear…), into the fray. And best of all, this addition allows us to witness a dream match up between Dudley and another one of video games’ best boxers, Little Mac.
This creation comes from the mind of T.KO, who naturally used Little Mac as the foundation for the Dudley mod. While this is essentially an alternate skin for Mac, T.KO added all kinds of other flourishes to make Dudley feel like more of a standalone character.
For starters, the Dudley mod has several of his voice clips added to it when he performs various actions making him feel like a legitimate addition to the game. There are also sound effects and music from Street Fighter 3 Third Strike implemented to really bring this mod to life.
The mod comes with four different color palettes, which include Dudley’s default green and yellow getup, his pink and white, orange and white, and black and red palettes. All of these are existing colors from Third Strike and the Street Fighter 4 series as well.
Little Mac’s move set fits Dudley extremely well, and the mod also looks fantastic in motion. Footage featuring a full match between these two pugilists has been uploaded and showcases an epic battle for video game boxer supremacy.
In this day and age anything can happen. However, it is highly unlikely that Dudley would ever be added to Super Smash Bros. for real as there are just too many other, more popular characters from Street Fighter that would likely get picked before him.
Thankfully we can at least imagine what it could be like if Dudley really did join Super Smash Bros. thanks to mods like this. Check out the footage below.
