This is what Tekken 8's base roster character select screen will look like at launch

Tekken 8 will be available very soon. Though it was initially slated to release on January 26, 2024, it’s been indicated via the Release Timing Map that those of us residing in the United States will actually be playing the game tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. PST and 6 p.m. EST on January 25, 2024.

Of the AAA fighting games that have released recently, Tekken 8 has the biggest base roster of them all with 32 different characters that include Jin Kazama, Jun Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Reina, Devil Jin, Leroy, Nina, Jack-8, Bryan, King, Paul, Marshall, Kuma, and many more.

As such, we decided to provide a snapshot of how Tekken 8’s character select screen will look when the game is launched. It’s the type of character select screen that really emphasizes the fact that there are 32 playable characters at launch.

However, there are actually 33 slots. The slot in the middle is reserved for the random select option.

The characters that surround the random select slot in the middle are Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Devil Jin, and Reina. During her debut trailer, it was demonstrated that Reina is a practitioner of Mishima Style Martial Arts, hinting at some sort of connection to the Mishima family. Needless to say, her being in the middle seems to further hint that there is indeed some sort of connection.

At some point, the character select screen’s slots will expand as DLC characters are added to the game. Eddy Gordo will be the first of four characters that are slated to be part of Tekken 8’s Playable Character Year 1 Pass and will be releasing sometime in the spring.
