When Street Fighter 6 first came out, E. Honda was at the top of many players’ lists of most frustrating characters thanks to his tendency to spam his two favorite special moves Sumo Headbutt and Sumo Splash (aka Butt Slam). Honda players widely continue to base their play around these two main pillars, but many have figured him out and thus he’s plummeted on both tier and “most frustrating character” lists.
You may or may not see a lot of Hondas when you dive into ranked (especially if you reach Master) and when you do you may think they’ll play a little reserved and be precise with when and where they toss out their favorite moves… you’d be dead wrong.
While perusing fighting game community social media we recently stumbled upon a post featuring a quick online round between two Master ranked Honda users.
Both of these contenders are ranked just below 1600 MR, which isn’t the peak of Street Fighter 6 competition but likely places both users somewhere within the top 5% of all online players.
What’s their secret for leveling up through the ranks with a character who has had an exceptionally hard time doing so? How have they separated themselves from the rest of the Honda pack? Apparently simply by leaning into the E. Honda instinct.
No fewer than 20 Sumo Headbutts are tossed out as both of these fighters double, triple, and quadruple down on the character’s tried and not-so-true method of force-forging the path to victory:
