It wasn’t long ago that we shared a Street Fighter 5 clip in which a Dan player landed the most “Dan” combo we’ve ever seen. What that means is, Dan went for a play that didn’t quite pan out as planned, but he ultimately still lucked into a big combo that scored him the win.

It appears that Dan’s luck is not confined to Street Fighter 5, but that he also has it in Ultra Street Fighter 4 as well. A clip from Twitter user Wash Bucket shows a match up between the Saikyo master and a Gen player online in which Dan scores an absolutely ridiculous and lucky trade combo for big damage — and it is marvelous. Note, there is a little bit of NSFW language used in the tweet itself.

The footage begins with a back and forth between the fighters in what is your average USF4 bout. Dan lands his Dan Kicks a few times, Gen answers back with a throw, pretty standard stuff.

After a wake up uppercut from Dan that puts Gen on his back, though, is when the fireworks start. Upon waking up, the Gen player attempts to use the character’s Ultra 1, Zetsuei, which can only be done from his Mantis stance.

With this hard-hitting maneuver, Gen charges forward horizontally across screen, snatches the opponent up, and proceeds to hit them with numerous strikes. Typically, this is Gen’s best Ultra in wake up situations due to its invincibility on start up and the distance it travels.

That was absolutely not the case in this situation, however. You see, Wash Bucket was in the middle of throwing a fireball at Gen while he was waking up, and somehow the fireball and Dan’s extended arm managed to stop Gen dead in his tracks and cause a trade between the two fighters.

With Dan now recovered from the fireball animation thanks to the trade, Street Fighter’s joke character was able to fire straight into his own Ultra 1 and close out the round. While this situation was certainly a lucky one, it was the player’s awareness and reaction to the situation that allowed for this to work, but regardless, what we have here is a great example of Dan being Dan.
