This absolutely insane Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 scramble happened in grand finals and will leave you yelling at your screen

Just recently, we took a look at an unbelievable side switching mix up in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that is still an absolute brain-melter. Today, we have another outstanding clip from the fan-favorite versus game that is sure to blow your mind.

Competitive Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is an absolute wonder to watch as it not only has the benefit of being incredibly free-flowing and leaving room for all kinds of expression, but it’s also an older game where those competing have a TON of experience and incredibly refined skills. This clip comes from a recent Traveling Controller UMvC3 tournament and sees an absolutely wild scramble in grand finals that will keep you on the edge of your seat and constantly guessing who is going to actually take the round.

The footage begins with both players on their last character in the first game of a reset grand finals set. Maxout has Super Skrull as their team’s anchor while DanCravate has Haggar to close things out.

At the very start of the clip, we see an already X-Factored Super Skrull whiff a big command throw from further out before dashing forward and tossing out the anti-air version of Tenderizer to hopefully catch Haggar’s jump. Unfortunately, the rapid punch special move only sees the very first hit tag Haggar as he tries to jump over Skrull, and with an air tech forward the Mayor of Metro City is able to air reset and get behind his opponent.

As Skrull is recovering from his attack, Haggar lands on the ground behind him and attempts a punish, but the start up of whatever move he’s attempting gets momentarily frozen by Skrull’s level 1 super activation. This play was incredibly smart as it was done as a means of countering the punish, but instead of stopping Haggar, we see that he actually performed his Lariat special move which has invincibility and goes right through Skrull’s big inferno.

Haggar gets the confirm into a super of his own, but drops the combo and lets Skrull escape. DanCravate then finds another opening with an air throw, but drops the pick up again, leaving Skrull alive and able to punish Haggar’s whiffed level 1 super.

Maxout quickly dashes forward and tries for a long-ranged command throw, but once again Haggar recovers too quickly here and makes the command throw whiff with another lariat. We won’t spoil the ending for you, but let’s just say that there are several more counters to the counters here as both players go back and forth with whiffed supers before one emerges victorious.
