These proposed balance changes for Manon in Street Fighter 6 Season 2 are a great jumping off point for the character

2024 is right around the corner, and with Capcom Cup X taking place in February Street Fighter 6 players are looking to the event’s conclusion (or shortly after) as the point when we might be seeing the game’s first big balance update.

As a result, a lot of folks in the community are currently discussing what kinds of balance changes — both for specific characters and the overall game mechanics — should be implemented for Street Fighter 6 Season 2. Content creator and avid researcher of the game, MC Mura, put together a video containing several proposed balance changes for Manon that is definitely worth a watch.

When it comes to buffing grappler characters, there always needs to be some restraint used as this archetype can very quickly go from low tier to one of the best in the game if the developers aren’t careful with the changes they make. From the looks of it, MC Mura’s proposed changes seem very much in line with that methodology, not asking for too much and mainly targeting quality of life changes that would make Manon overall more solid.

The first change Mura pitches is the ability to increase Manon’s medal level when she combos her spinning grab into level 3 super. As they point out in the video, the current version of her spinning command throw does not grant Manon another medal level until the last hit of the move.

When you super cancel this move into level 3, however, you cancel the first hit of it, meaning Manon does not see an increase in medal for this very common and useful bread and butter combo. With characters like Lily and Juri having the ability to increase their unique stocks with bnb combos into level 3, and considering the fact that a basic back heavy punch into spinning command throw combo actually deals less damage after level 3 than just going from the normal into the super, this seems like a fair trade off opting for reduced damage in exchange for an increase in medal.

Another quality of life change Mura proposes comes in the form of Manon’s two target combos. Both her heavy punch – heavy punch and medium punch – medium kick target combos function very similarly, and as a means of making the former more rewarding, Mura believes that Capcom should add the ability to super cancel it for better hit confirms.

There are a handful of other changes to see here, and each is well thought out and explained very effectively. Even iDom, one of the game’s most prominent Manon players, retweeted this video and supports these changes.
