Capcom is currently holding their “Real Battle Hub” event in Japan that is giving attendees the chance to not only try Akuma, the game’s next DLC character, for the first time, but also to get their hands on the upcoming Season 2 balance changes as well.
With this being a “no cameras allowed” event, several event goers have been sharing scattered reports on balance changes they’ve found so far on social media — and there’s been some very interesting ones reported. In the spirit of Street Fighter 6 Season 2 balance changes, X_AZEEZ3 put together some mock alterations for JP that make him legitimately busted and overpowered, and we can only hope that SF6 Game Director Takayuki Nakayama doesn’t get any ideas from this one…
Now, it’s worth mentioning up front that these aren’t real changes and are very obviously meant to be a joke. Though, some of these changes do play off of how strong a number of JP’s tools already are, which makes things even funnier.
Right from the jump, we see Ken lock JP into a full Drive Rush combo that ends with a running Hurricane Kick. In the middle of getting hit with said Hurricane Kick, JP completely interrupts it with an OD Amnesia which helps him escape the combo — while being hit.
Another “balance change” sees JP get snatched up by Zangief’s air SPD, but again, in the middle of it he turns the tides and hits Zangief with an air throw of his own. A change that is actually more rooted in reality (and is absolutely terrifying) is a cancel for JP’s ground spike, which essentially works as a fireball feint and allows JP to still anti-air with a crouching heavy punch. Again, please Nakayama-san… don’t do it.
Or what if JP had the ability to cancel the recovery of his OD Amnesia into a teleport to safety? Yeah… this is the stuff of nightmares.

As far as real changes go, in the Ed update JP saw some significant nerfs to things like his crouching heavy punch as an anti-air. Reports from the Real Battle Hub event have also claimed his level 2 super has more recovery in Season 2, which makes him no longer able to combo into it from a light attack.
It is important to remember that the reported Season 2 balance changes that are currently coming in might not be fully accurate as attendees are only getting 10 minute play sessions at a time and most are being translated from Japanese. So don’t put too much stock into them just yet, and be sure to wait for the official patch notes to drop closer to the May 22 release date.
