Gerry and Theresa’s split had a lot to do with their commitment to family. They also struggled to agree on where they should live. In a chat just before they called it quits, they hinted at a lack of alignment in their plans.
Theresa, on a podcast episode, mentioned her work commitments. “I still work—that’s the hurdle,” she confessed. She further elaborated on their long-distance relationship.
The decision of where to live was a big one for her. “Until we decide on a place to really live, then I can really make a big decision to say, ‘OK, we’re going to live in this place or that place,’” she said. South Carolina was an initial consideration. But, they were still unsure.
Gerry, however, saw their living situation differently. He felt it was “really secondary” to other issues. He had been retired for a while and was looking for a partner to share his adventures.
“I guess the difficult part is I went on to the show to find my partner, and I’ve been retired for a long time,” the 72-year-old shared. His desire was simple. “I wanted fun, adventure, I wanted to go and do. So that is the crux of it right now: When does that start?” he questioned.
