This summer, Manchester United are expected to go through an overhaul of players, aiming to rejuvenate the squad ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Already a number of teams are linked with making moves for United players, with it being understood that the Red Devils’ need to offload some key players to increase their limited transfer budget of £50 million.

Brazilian superstar Casemiro is being linked with a number of Saudi Pro League teams, including Al-Nassr which could see him linking up with ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after forming partnerships at Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Another potential for the Saudi lights is Donny van de Beek who’s somewhat of a forgotten man at Old Trafford having been on loans to both Everton and Eintract Frankfurt in recent years.

Next is the duo of Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho who have both been key priorities for European giants Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. with Dortmund prioritising Sancho with Greenwood being a backup if their plans for Sancho fall through. Juventus’ enquires however appear to be unlinked, meaning a swoop for both United wingers is possible.

Although no club has been linked to the Danish midfielder, it’s expected that another departure will be Christian Eriksen who is slightly off the pace this season. Eriksen is entering his final year of contract this summer so a sale of the 32-year-old would allow United to avoid losing the Premier League veteran for free next year. Whilst Eriksen’s future is uncertain, he’s categorically rejected the Saudi Pro League saying he has no interest in the league at all.

Despite being the current captain, Bruno Fernandes may also be set to depart with interest from Saudi Arabia and more recently German giants Bayern Munich.

With all this speculation around players potentially set to leave, United have been reported by 90mins to have developed a list of six players that they are refusing to let go this summer.

The men in question are goalkeeper Andra Onana, key defenders Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot, FA Cup Final goalscorers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, and the club’s only striker Rasmus Hojlund.

It’s clear to see that these six are going to be the backbone of the squad next season, with all of them being so key this last year and I the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

This does mean however that big name players like Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and Antony could be let go if the right offer comes in for them.

With this in mind, it’s expected that any transfers in will be building around this core set of players, making a very different line up to ten Hag’s current squad.
