The Ugoji Nwabueze I Know

By Ekubi Bassey

Barr. Ugoji Nwabueze is a household name no doubt, during our days in Calabar as Malabites, his Sunday Sunday tonic programme on CRBC radio always make my day and week as it was. He, a Malabite was always down to earth to give us both local and foreign titbits as there happen and we were always blessed for it.

Our paths first crossed in 1995, when as a campus journalist we went to the press centre to commune with him. Chief was at his best to school us budding pen pushers then, on the dos and don’ts of the pen profession.

A lively figure whose IQ was commensurate with experience and grits. A flowing fountain of wit and decorum and a trailblazer anytime.

An accomplished entertainment guru, artist, lecturer, lawyer, broadcaster and Ndigbo chieftain in Calabar and recently appointed Senior Special Adviser to Cross River State Governor on Non-Indigene Affairs. He is of a truth – a cat with many lives and a workaholic that never weans so easily.

We congratulate you, sir, on this yet another feather to your cap. Keep winning as it is the attitude of well-meaning Malabites and Malabresses. Ugoji Nwabueze is the President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, Cross River State.

May you never rest in your oars to add value to humanity.

From your friend, Ekubi Bassey.
