Especially when you go back to arcade days Mortal Kombat ladders were designed to get you to keep tossing quarters in machines, and no where was that exploited more than in final boss battles. Indeed, you may be able to get all the way to Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung on a single credit or two only to fork over another fistful of dollars trying to overcome that final hurdle before the credits.
This was by design as it worked both to make money and give players worthwhile final challenges, but what if we told you each and every one of these big baddies (perhaps with exception of Mortal Kombat 11’s Kronika) have easily exploitable gimmicks that can be used to turn them into helpless ragdolls? Enter Ketchup and Mustard with their latest video.
All those hours spending continues against Goro in Mortal Kombat 1 (the game from 1992) could have been skipped had you known that the AI is not programmed to deal with instant jump punches. That’s right, simply spamming jump punches in Goro’s face will drop the four armed quarter stealer before he’s able to do much of anything to your health bar.
I personally recall having the hardest time in Mortal Kombat 2, and not against the final boss in Shao Kahn, but instead against the penultimate Kintaro. You only got a few tries as early MK ladders gave you continues that, once expired, meant you had to start from the very beginning of the ladder again, meaning this took a lot of time.
Had Ketchup and Mustard been around they may have told me how performing jumping kick attacks up in Kintaro’s face would effectively stuff any and all attacks he decided to try to do.
