The Tekken 8 team are now investigating allegations of rank boosting and will be suspending accounts based on findings

Back in late January, we reported that some of the highest ranked players on Tekken 8’s leaderboard got to where they were through illegitimate means. Indeed, there was clear evidence of some of the “top players” rank boosting to inflate their rankings.

Katsuhiro Harada and the Tekken 8 development team have recently indicated that they will be investigating the reports of cheating within the ranking system. Those that are discovered to be cheaters will have actions taken against them.

“If the results of the investigation indicate that the player is cheating, an in-game warning will be issued, and actions such as resetting related data and suspending the account will be taken during the upcoming maintenance,” said the Tekken 8 development team.

Based on what we saw in the previous article, it’s very likely be determined that some of the top ranked players on the leaderboard will be labeled as cheaters. As such, this will make it so that only the players that have legitimately achieved their ranks stay at the top.

The Tekken 8 team has stated that there will be an update at the conclusion of the investigation. “We will update you on the status of this matter as soon as we have more information,” continued the statement.
