So, there have been a lot of rumors lately about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23. But the one that caught my eye is the rumor regarding its camera. The thing is, the flagship cameras of Samsung usually stand neck and neck with iPhones and Pixels. Yes, the camera performance of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is great, but there was a lot left to be desired.
Well, it seems like Samsung heard our calls. The smartphone giant is expected to take things up a notch with the soon-to-be-unveiled Galaxy S23. And according to the latest rumor, the 2023 flagship of Samsung could have a higher-than-ever framerate option for recording videos in 8K.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Is Rumored to Have an 8K 30 Fps Video Recording Option
The rumor comes from a very reliable leaker, Ice Universe. And according to one of the latest tweets, the leaker stated that the Galaxy S23 is set to offer an 8K 30 FPS video recording option.
To put that into perspective, the current lineup of the Galaxy S22 series maxes out at 8K 24 FPS. And although 6 more FPS might not seem like a big deal, it is great news for vloggers and framerate sticklers.
How Much Difference Will The 8K 30 FPS Recording Option Will Make
Needless to say, having 8K at 24 FPS recording options on smartphones is not a small feat. In fact, when this feature first debuted, it amazed the world with how rapidly the camera tech is advancing in the smartphone industry.
24 FPS is still a standard for getting a classic movie look on your videos. But by comparison, 30 FPS videos feel a lot smoother. This FPS jump might not seem big on paper, but it will result in more natural-looking videos with considerably less amount of stuttering.
Now, you might argue that 8K screens are not mainstream yet. And you would be 100% right. There are not a lot of users with 8K TVs. However, having the ability to shoot videos at a super high resolution is always a plus!

That said, even if 8K 30 FPS debuts with the Galaxy S23, I don’t see a lot of users using it. How so? The thing is, 8K videos take up a lot of space. And the storage demand is only going to climb up when you record 8K videos with a higher frame rate. Per minute of the 8K video can take around 600 MB of space. That’s a lot!
Will The Samsung Galaxy S23 Have The Right Storage Options for 8K Videos
Storage options seem not to be an issue with the current Galaxy flagships. Take the Galaxy S22 Ultra, for example. It is available in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and, most importantly, 1 TB options. We are expecting to see the same in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
However, the case for the regular S23 and S23+ might be different. The current standard S22 does not have a 512 GB or 1 TB option. And the case is the same for the S22+. It, too, only offers 128 GB and 256 GB storage options.
Alongside that, the leaker confirmed that the S23 and S23+ will have the same amount of RAM as the S22 and S22+. So, there is a high chance that we might not see the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ coming in 512 GB and 1 TB storage variants. Therefore, the 8K 30 FPS recording feature might be only suitable for the S23 Ultra. However, nothing is set in stone yet. These are all just leaks and rumors. So, you should take all these pieces of info with a grain of salt.
