The legendary Daigo parry gets recreated in Street Fighter 6 only this time it ends with an Akuma Raging Demon

Akuma is officially available in Street Fighter 6, and after just under a week of him being in the hands of the public we’ve already seen some impressive things. From high-damage combos to the fearsome Drive Rush Raging Demon, fans are actively finding cool stuff that you can do with Street Fighter 6’s latest DLC fighter.

One of the coolest things we’ve seen so far, though, is the recreation of the legendary Evo Moment 37 Daigo parry, only this time it involves Akuma. Instead of Ken doing the parrying and closing out with a big combo, we see an impressive display from Akuma as he ends the game with a Raging Demon.

I was going to write “the man, the myth, the legend” here, but it is no myth that this man is indeed legendary. Sunshine-OU, if you’re not familiar, is a parry master and has uploaded all kinds of amazing sequences across the last several Street Fighter titles.

We have seen beautiful taunt baits in Ultra Street Fighter 4 that result in him red parrying full supers, as well as killer sequences in Street Fighter 5 using unique parries for Ryu, Akuma, and Gill.

This time, though, Sunshine-OU finds himself in a bout against a Chun-Li player in Street Fighter 6 as he mans the latest DLC character. Things begin with a little back and forth between both players, which ultimately results in the Chun-Li being knocked down, in the corner, with about 15% of her health left.

Sunshine’s Akuma has even lower health than that, and when the Chun wakes up in this scenario she fires right into level 2 super — which works very similarly to Chun-Li’s Super Art 2 in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.

The Akuma player wasn’t in burnout here, so the opponent was likely hoping to catch some meaty pressure on wake up with this powerful super. Instead, however, they ran right into Sunshine’s perfect perfect parrying.

Just like Daigo did against Justin Wong back at Evo 2004, Sunshine perfect parries all of the horizontal kicks from Chun-Li’s level 2 super, and instead of jumping up to parry the final upward strike (since there are no air parries in SF6), he closes out the game with a devastating Raging Demon.

The perfect parry timing for this super is tough (if you’re trying to parry all of its hits), and seeing this all shake out in a real match is even more impressive.
