The Joker, archnemesis of Batman, has been revealed as a playable character in MultiVersus. Player First Games has treated fans to a spiffy new cinematic to commemorate the Joker’s announcement.
During this cinematic, Batman can be seen walking past Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and Arya. It seems that they’ve all taken a beating. Once again, this is an opponent that only Batman can truly stand against.
By the end of the trailer, Batman is seen approaching some green smoke. As expected, so obnoxious and over-the-top laughter can be heard in the background.
“Oh, Batman, we have got to stop meeting like this,” excitedly exclaimed the Joker as he steps out of the eerie fog. Some fans are speculating that this could be Mark Hamill’s voice, though that has yet to be confirmed.
Since yesterday, the MultiVersus team has been dropping coded mysteries that hinted at the Joker’s arrival. Over on the MultiVersus Discord channel, some snippets of Joker’s gameplay have been shown off.
One of his attacks his him quickly expanding a balloon while airborne. This action doubles as both an attack and an upwards movement option, functionally similar to a recovery special in the Super Smash Bros. series.
During the trailer, the Joker could also be seen stepping over a weapon of some sort. More than likely, this weapon has something to do with Joker’s laughing gas and will probably be incorporated into his moveset somehow.
MultiVersus is scheduled to relaunch on May 28, 2024 as a free-to-play game on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
