After a week full of competition, we are now almost exactly 24 hours away from crowning the first world champion for Street Fighter 6 where the competition is going to be absolutely fierce with $1 million on the line.
Before the last bracket for Capcom Cup X begins, let’s break down the remaining top 16 competitors and the characters who’ve helped get them to this final grand stage.
The week started with 48 hopeful finalists, but we’re now down to just one third of that with 00|Phenom, Yesports|Chris Wong, Narada|DCQ, RB|Gachikun, GG|Xian, DRX|Leshar, UMA327, Kusanagi, HB|Kawano, Nephew, SR|NuckleDu, Gumout|NL, BST|Fuudo, Bandits|MenaRD, Sayff and DualKevin about to duke it out for their tournament lives including 3 past Capcom Cup champions — and Xian, who’s qualified for 9 out of 10 Capcom Cups across 3 different games now.
Out of those remaining so far, we’ve seen 8 different mains on display at Capcom Cup among this top 16 with 4 of them being repeats between Luke, Ken, Juri and Dee Jay
It probably comes as little shock at this point to see Luke at the top with 5 remaining players between Chris Wong, Kawano, NL, MenaRD and DualKevin, which means more than half of them made it through the top 48, although all but 1 are in the loser’s bracket.
Meanwhile Ken is the only repeat main on the winner’s side, so we’re going to avoid mirror matches at least for the first round or two.
Despite his popularity in the top 48 and the Last Chance Qualifier, JP is now down to just DCQ as his sole main representative since Mena’s only really pulled out the Psycho Power user against Guile.
We haven’t seen that many secondary picks come out from these finalists besides those we pretty much knew already like Mena’s Blanka and NuckleDu’s Cammy, so it’ll be interesting if anyone has any surprises in their pockets for the finals.
That of course also leaves A.K.I., Dhalsim, E. Honda, Jamie, Kimberly, Lily, Manon, Marisa, Ryu and Zangief likely sitting on the sidelines for finals day.
You can check out the full breakdown of characters used so far below, and we’ll update the stats here if anyone new comes out once the action starts up on Sunday, February 25, starting at 3 p.m. PT.
