Early access has begun for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. At last, we can now find out what happens next in the “What If” scenario that sees Goku surviving the battle against Raditz.
With Goku present at the battle against Vegeta, Nappa, and the Saibamen right from the get-go, Goku is immediately able to spare Yamcha from his grisly fate of dying to a Saibaman. However, since Goku never received training from King Kai to learn the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb techniques, Nappa ends up being too strong for Earth’s defenders.
As a result, Goku ends up getting beaten to the brink of death, but is able to quickly recover thanks to the restorative properties of the Senzu Beans. This results in Goku getting enough of a Zenkai Boost that he’s even able to overpower Nappa now.
Unfortunately, Piccolo is still killed in the resulting battle, prompting Goku to send Gohan away for his own safety. Of course, Vegeta still ends up killing Nappa before the battle continues.
Even without the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb techniques, Goku is able to push Vegeta into using his Great Ape transformation. As such, Vegeta is able to overpower Goku, which also results in Krillin getting killed.
After receiving another Senzu Bean and a second Zenkai Boost, this event triggers Goku’s transformation into a Super Saiyan. As such, Vegeta ends up being no match for Goku, but Goku ends up sparing Vegeta anyway.
By this point in the “What If” story, it’s believed that Krillin won’t be able to come back since the Earth’s Dragon Balls can only revive a person once, but Goku still decides to make the journey to Namek, alone, for the sake of reviving Piccolo.
Needless to say, Goku ends up running into a couple of Frieza’s henchmen on planet Namek, but he’s surprised to also find Vegeta there, transformed into a Super Saiyan. Funnily enough, Frieza ends up just being a footnote as Vegeta reveals that he killed Frieza off screen.
This results in another battle between Goku and Vegeta, with both of them fighting as Super Saiyans. The battle doesn’t end up being quite as climatic as the original battle between Goku and Frieza as planet Namek is ultimately left intact in the end, but Goku once again emerges as the victor.
Once more, Goku chooses to spare Vegeta in hopes of getting the opportunity to fight him again. As such, the two remain as rivals even in this version of events.
However, one still has to imagine that these events will probably cause problems later down the timeline since Goku never learns the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb techniques. Check it all out below:
