Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a lot of strange mechanics that are honestly difficult to document. Since a lot of mechanics within the game function based on formulas, just simply changing one variable can have wildly unpredictable results in-game.
Under normal circumstances, Wario’s Chomp neutral special is only able to heal Wario for 1% damage if he gets his own bike (while it lays motionless on the ground). However, it turns out that there’s a lot more going on with how Wario’s Chomp and Bike specials work.
As showcased by the Beefy Smash Doods, the damage that Wario’s Bike deals when thrown is based on how fast it’s traveling or how much distance it has traveled. It also turns out that Chomp’s healing effect will be increased by a little bit based on how much damage a projectile deals.
Knowing that Wario’s Bike behaves weirdly with wind boxes such as Squirtle’s Water Gun neutral special, the Beefy Smash Doods decide to carry out a little experiment. By using Squirtle’s Water Gun neutral special to accelerate a thrown bike to unbelievable speeds, how much of a healing effect can be achieved with Wario’s Chomp?
During a failed attempt, Wario actually got hit by the Water Gun propelled bike and received 66.2% damage. When the two were actually successful with their timing, the Chomp special was able to heal Wario for 11.1% damage — that’s only 11x times the amount of damage as normal!
